Review from Joseph F.
Let me cut to the case: The Villager is a no-frills establishment at no-frills prices. The room was a bit cold at first and it was hard to find out how to turn the heat on. However, once I did, the room heated up quite nicely. The furniture isn't brand new either. However, the price was extremely reasonable, especially for a Saturday night--most other places (even those which aren't very highly reviewed) wanted a king's ransom for a room, but this place only charged us $50. Hence, we had more money freed up to go out and have fun in Niagara Falls. Who spends much time in the room anyway? There's so much to do!
Believe it or not, though, this place does have several advantages compared to other hotels in the Niagara Falls area. The television has a ton of channels, which is better than the fancier Days Inns at which we've stayed up in Niagara Falls, and we enjoyed watching the Canadian version of Food Network. The Villager also offers free wireless They are also right across the street from Tim Horton's, which is a fantastic place to get breakfast while in Canada. The Villager gives you a bare-bones continental breakfast, but unlike other places at which I've stayed, they allow you to take it back to your room. The ownership is also very nice; we showed up there at 3:30 PM or so and they offered us the honeymoon suite, complete with a heart-shaped jacuzzi tub! In the past, other hotels have either refused to do this or only given it to us when it was late enough that nobody else would have wanted to get it.
If you're not going to stay in one of the top-tier hotels in Niagara Falls, you'd do well to stay at The Villager. It's a clean and comfortable establishment that will allow you to have a good night's rest. -
Review from Steven C.
This motel is a very good deal if you just want a place to sleep for the night, but that's it. No luxuries. The television has just a few channels (no cable), not even a remote. Not too many plugs: just one lone extension cord. The floor is a little dusty and the bathroom's moderately clean. No shampoo either.
A few big pluses, though:
* Wireless Internet. Very strong signal strength and free. Likely because no one else is using it. The downsides: unencrypted, so make sure you secure your own communications.
* Tim Horton's is within walking distance, if you need your sugary baked-goods fix.
It is cheap and very affordable. On the other hand, if I'm on vacation, I want to relax in an enjoyable place to stay, and sadly this place doesn't offer that level of service.
