Review from Lyndsay R.
This cute and quaint pottery shop located in the heart of Prince Edward Island is the best! The Scott's are not only friendly and talented, but truly shine in customer service. The necklace I ordered shipped out quickly and was the quality even better than expected! Not to mention, the prices are incredible for handmade, good quality, unique pottery pieces. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend you stop by this little gem! You won't be disappointed!
Specialties
Village Pottery features unique, handmade pottery made by island potters. Watch a live demonstration in our studio or browse a selection of island artwork in our Gallery. Take a stroll through our gardens with a cup of tea. We also have a selection of jewelry, paintings, books and food.
History
Established in 1973
Daphne Large embarked on this quaint and charming pottery shop in 1973, after graduating from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. She discovered an available heritage building, which had once been a general store in New London and opened up her own pottery shop.
As each summer passed, more pottery was produced as the business grew. Christine Campbell was hired as a sales clerk, later turned full-time potter. Daphne got married, had three kids with husband Ian and decided it was time to expand the business.
In 1994, the building was moved down the road and a full pottery studio was built onto the original shop. During this time, The Potter's House (a lovely summer rental home) was also added to the business. Over the course of 10 years, Daphne hired and trained a handful of potters, who went on to start their own beautiful pottery shops. Extensive gardens were added to the front of the building and expanded on each summer.
Our 39th Season starts May 1st, 2011!
