I have used this place a couple of times...once for a red wine stain on a delicate light colored dress I bought, and once to repair my most beloved Joseph Siebel shoes that I can't find anywhere anymore and refuse to part with.
The red wine stain had been sitting for months (because I didn't know what to do with it)...and they managed to get it out to make it look like new again. Woo HOO! I also liked the fact that my dress did not smell like the typical drycleaner chemical smell (gross and kind of overpowering to sensitive noses like mine)...it smelled normal, like how regular laundry should smell.
As for my shoes...they were in dire need of help to both reglue the soles and restitch the sides that had bust open. In about an hour the job was done and you couldn't even tell that there was anything wrong with them. They came back polished, shiny and new looking, and they even removed all the scuffs for me too. I feel like a million bucks again...and my favorite shoes can live on once again!
Overall great service and affordable pricing (especially the shoes!). I would definitely go back again. :) -

The 24-hour pickup and drop off service offered at Village Cleaners is perfect for my busy schedule! It is also convenient because they're a one-stop shop. I am able to have my clothes cleaned and my shoes repaired at the same place. I felt confident enough to trust them to repair my Dolce and Gabbana shoes and I am extremely happy with the results! It also feels good to support a business that cares about the environment just as much as I do! I would definitely recommend them to other corporate executives or people who work long hours because they offer speedy, professional service and the 24-hour pickup/drop off really accommodates a crazy schedule!

I really wanted to try the wet cleaning (non chemical) process and bought an Ethical Deal coupon for this place. Unfortunately, I've been way too busy to get in there when I'm in town (I live on an island but still my fault for not prioritizing use of the coupon). I missed the expiry by one day because the ferry was late (yesterday) due to very low tides and problems loading/unloading. So I went in today, hoping they'd understand and make an exception (as other Ethical Deal vendors have done, apparently).
Not Village Cleaners. The young woman at the counter said the best they could do would be to refund their portion of the deal. I said that sounded fair but I'd really hoped to try their services. She called Robert and asked. He said 'No."
I expressed disappointment and said I'd better take the refund and the young woman said Robert would not authorize that, either.
I guess they really don't want the business. I don't recommend you give it to them, either.
As I left, there was a very strong chemical smell beside their building. Maybe it emanated from elsewhere, but maybe it's not as non-toxic as claimed. All in all, a most unpleasant experience. -
