2 reviews for Vij's
All Reviews
We are in Vancouver BC currently and went to Vij's last night for dinner. We arrived before it opened and were second in line. We could smell the amazing herbs and spices from a block away...once inside the smell was intense. Vij was at the door greeting people and walking from table to table making sure everyone was happy. The food is Indian Fusion and i think it was some of the best Indian food I have ever had. (but i haven't been to India yet...)
We let our server order for us and i am so glad we did. Each dish was different from the next in flavor, texture and even in color! What a delight each bite was. Honestly when we walked in, I wasn't super hungry...but that has never stopped me before and it didn't this time....I ate quite a bit of food and even ordered (and ate) two desserts. I enjoyed it all and waddled back home happy and satisfied.
Vij's isn't cheap...but I didn't feel like we got less than what we paid for. For 4 of us to eat dinner, with two appetizers, four main dishes, a bottle of wine, oh - and two desserts it was $144 before tip. I have no complaints and I hope we can go back one more time before we fly back to San Diego. if you are ever in the area, give Vij's a try.
not only was this the best indian food i've ever had in my life, it was one of the best dining experiences i've ever had. we waited for about two hours to get a table - they don't take reservations- but it was well worth the wait! the owner of the restaurant, who i assume was vij, greeted everyone like family. the friendly hosts served complimentary scrumptious hors d'oeuvres while we waited and drank wine from an incredible wine list. i would recommend taking a trip to vancouver just to try this restaurant. yum!
