I'd probably give it a 3 and half if I could. When I worked at a local institution we basically lived off this place for lunch. It is cheap, filling and has quite a large vegetarian section. The pad thai is a pile of goo that sometimes ends up as delicious and sometimes as just okay. Spring rolls (fresh and fried) are usually very good. For a real treat, try the Vietnamese iced coffee - it is strong coffee and condensed milk! I haven't liked it as much since they did their renovations (it used to be called thai-viet with a different layout) but it is still a go-to place for me.
Not to be confused with thai sun. -

If you're a university student, this place is ideal. Massive portions and cheap cheap prices. I was definitely a fan of this place during those years. I mean really, what's not to like right?
The problem is (and this is personal preference) now I'm after a 'good' dish and that Viet Sun does not provide. Their Pad Thai is 99% noodles. I'd rather have a little more flavour, chicken, vegetables, and variety in my meals.
So, if you're looking for a cheap option, definitely give this place a try, if you're looking for something delicious, go somewhere else.Listed in: Waterloo
