I am not going to rabbit on it's a quick and dirty review. Don't let the location fool you, Via Allegro is great. The food is fantastic and so is their wine list. They also have an extensive selection of Scotch as well.

The servers are excellent and really go out of their way. Just be prepared to spend a few bucks here. It's not at all on the inexpensive side but it is well worth the price.

I came here on a business dinner. I ordered the seafood classico, which was quite tasty and probably worth the $33. One co-worker mentioned that the rabbit two ways wasn't as good as he expected. All in all, a good place for a business dinner or possibly a romantic dinner if you want to impress. All of the dishes will be in upwards of $30. The wine list is larger than a dictionary. Make sure you have time to spare because service is very slow.

I been here twice in the past month and the service has been exceptionally slow. The pricing is rather high for service quality.  The  meals were OK but it took forever to get them.

I would definitely not recommend this restaurant for any sort of business meeting or dinner as it will not be an efficient experience

Had heard a lot about this place and was very excited to try it. It is in a strip mall - right next to a staples. In fact the lit up sign shows "egro" as all the letters have burnt out. The interiors reminded me of those old steakhouses in NYC made infamous with mafia history.
The place is noisy and bustling and the staff, although super efficient were a little cold.
The food was good. We ordered the carpaccio to share and it arrived in under 5 mins. The wine list is very impressive and we selected a great Pinot noir from Italy. For mains I ordered the platinum risotto and my SO ordered the veal and tiger shrimps. His risotto was excellent but mine was definitely over seasoned. The tiramisu was great too.
A good meal - interesting environment but not worth the driving effort. Ther are several places that can trump via all

Food-wise, this is one of the best restaurants in Toronto.

I walked into this restaurant quite by accident. We were shopping in the nearby mall and felt hungry. We walked across the street and into this unimposing little restaurant. Once inside, we noticed immediately noticed the upscale decor - 3 wine glasses in front of each place setting, bottles of wine on racks against the wall, and knew we would be in for a treat.

Skipping the bible-length wine list (it was only 3 in the afternoon), we looked at the menus, and I was delighted that this restaurant had won the Golden Spoon award for it's risotto. I am a great lover of risotto, and immediately ordered it.

It changed my life. Now, I've eaten at some of the world's finest restaurants, but this risotto was truly the most delicious thing I've ever tasted. I almost cried when the first piece of foie gras (the risotto is made with foie gras, duck breast, and a special 12year old balsamic vinegar, although you can opt for the 24, 50, or 100 year old ones) entered my mouth and melted with the buttery, savory risotto. The portion was absolutely gigantic, and I was so very glad that it was.

The prices weren't too exorbitant. The risotto was around $40, and the bill for the two of us came to be about $90, Canadian

If you love food, come here. If you don't love food, come here and it will make you love food.

If this is your only meal in Canada, come here.

You need to go here.  You will probably have to drive to get here because it is directly accross from Sherway Gardens.  You will also wonder how nice can a restaurant be that is in a plaza next to Staples.

I was taken here for a birthday dinner and it was amazing.  If you are going the portions are huge so I would suggest sharing an appetizer.  I could have even shared a main.  The wine list is enourmous but the staff are helpful to help you navigate through.  The most expensive bottle is $65,000 - I asked. They have huge cellar so there is a lot more selection for under $80.

I recommend the platinum risotto.  Our dinner for 2 was about $200 which included a nice bottle of wine, shared appetizer, dinner, espressos.  Not bad at all for a very nice experience.

I would and will go back again.

Delicious food, large selection wine and other spirits, warm and inviting atmosphere and amazing service. Costly but worth the experience.

If you have a special occassion to celebrate, you won't go wrong with Via Allegro Ristorante.

The food is simple but very well prepared and thought has been given to how tastes meld together.

The wine list is a huge book that must number close to 1000 pages.

The wait staff is friendly and attentive and it's the little extra touches that they bring to the table that make it a wonderful experience: lemon gelato to cleanse your palette, a cheese to bring out the flavours of your wine while you wait for your main, champagne and chocolates to end the evening... all the extra care to make any evening special.

The plating of the tirmisu was lovely as were many of the dishes we saw traveling past our table. And the chef's risotto is highly recommended.

    Enjoy!

I had a business dinner here recently. It is a large, outdated resto with a few gimmicks to keep you going. They have MASSIVE pepper grinders, and a WINE-LIST that mirrors the yellow pages.  They fail to deliver.

Via Allegro is one of the best restaurants that I have eaten at. Everything, and I mean everything, was melt in your mouth delicious.

I was there in a group of eight and they were very accommodating when that afternoon we had to move the reservation back an hour.

When we arrived they seated up promptly and were very friendly. The Service was excellent and they gave us some great suggestions for wine pairing. There is a ridiculously giant wine selection.

Dinner was fantastic. Between the eight of us we ordered a good portion of the menu and I tasted it all. Everything was flavourful and prepared perfectly. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Special note for the ladies: They give you a little ottoman beside your chair to rest your bag on. No trying to figure out where to hang it, nice touch.

Only thing I can say is that this was one of the best restaurants in Toronto. They kept playing with the lighting. Never clued in that it was due to Earth Hour. Place was fun with hardly any light. Especially in the bathrooms.
