This summer, girls get 50% off on Thursdays from 5 to 8 pm at Versa. I figured it would be an excellent time to give this place a try so I invited a friend to meet me there for dinner.

When we arrived around 6 pm, the restaurant wasn't too crowded so we easily got a table even though we didn't have a reservation. Once we got seated, the waiter quickly listed which menu items were not included in the 50% off discount. It was not a long list so I didn't feel like they were trying to make it hard for us to get the discount. I got the Versa burger (with candied onions, avocado puree, lettuce, goat cheese and nuts) which was quite good, special mention to the amazingness of the candied onions. My friend and I shared a chocolate cake for dessert (Chocolat City). It was served with vanilla ice cream, a tuile and gummy bears (I thought it was a bit strange too...) and was really rich and decadent, but $10 for it?? Fortunately we didn't have to pay the full price.

Good food and service, nice trendy atmosphere (they're obviously trying to attract the young professionals who work at the numerous IT businesses that are close by), so why do I give it only 3 stars? Simply because I'm not sure that I would go back and also because I find the regular prices a little high. It's not insanely expensive, but the food isn't special enough to justify it in my opinion.

Ate there on a friday night and the place was almost empty. The french onion soup had a weird taste. Maybe I should have sent it back. The duck confit poutine was just ok. The sauce wasn't thick enough to stay on the fries and it was almost too salty. The chicken breast was a bit dry and the taste of the corn was overwhelming.
