A pretty decent burger. On Mondays their Canuck bacon cheeseburger is on special. The meat was pretty good, thick and juicy. It comes with a HUGE basket of fries that were a bit too greasy for me.
But, the service was SO so good. I had a birthday coupon (sign up on the website) so I got the combo pretty much for free. I can't remember, but it might be like $10 off. Both workers were so enthusiastic. I'm always hesitant using coupons because the service can be hit or miss when you don't pay the full price.
I don't know who the guy was, whether he was a supervisor/management, but he insisted on bringing me my food, instead of having me wait, he wished me a happy birthday afterward AND made me not clean up after I was done.
Inside, there's a TV and stuff. This is only location I've been to, so I don't know if the others are similar, but at this specific spot, it definitely felt a little "divey." -

I have been to Vera's on different occasions, different locations... I really like the idea of a local chain, their patty is decent, however you are as good as your last plate of spaghetti we say in the biz.
Appears to be they are more interested in making money than good and proud burgers. I can accommodate flaws in small places, just like problems in a family, but consistency fluctuates out of control. If you are going big time, you might as well do it right.
I had nothing I ordered on my burger today, things are taking too long, fries are not consistent, was served raw chicken twice now, some of your staff does not look food-safe, patties range from flavorsome to dehydrated and turdy around the city.
Well McDonald's runs consistent joints, worldwide, with high-school teenagers that hate their job. So it is feasible, probably way easier with your size and case... Why can't you again? -

Not gonna lie, I think I would have had a better burger at Wendy's.
The burger I had had weird bits of cartilage or something ground into it, but not well enough. it was still the size of 3 grains of rice?
It was not exactly what I had in mind for dinner.
I was so hyped to try this place out after so many other's have deemed this to be a wonderful burger joint.
MAYBE, I'll try another location. -

A good burger, I don't know if it is the "best", we made the mistake of take out, and the fries are only good fresh and hot, as soon as they get medium to cold they taste like poop.
I am a bacon Cheeseburger hound, and for the money $12+, I like Fat burger or Cactus club better
and don't go if you are in a hurry... they are not -

Disagree with me if you like, but I think Vera's makes the best hamburger in Vancouver. It's freakishly delicious. Their fries - especially their yam fries - are good too, and their inventive menu and daily specials rock. I had a BBQ burger (bacon, cheese and fried onions) with fries and unlimited soft drink for $13.50 incl tax and tip.
I would give more stars but this review is for the Commercial Drive location, which is consistently the worst one in my opinion. Bad interior layout and not well maintained (ketchup bottles not cleaned, tables extra wobbly, no paper towels in the bathroom, etc), and ridiculously understaffed on a sunny summer Wednesday (only two employees in the restaurant. There was a lineup out the door and I had to wait about 20 minutes for my french fries, which arrived after I had finished my burger).
Anyways, great burgers, but this location does not measure up to the other ones. -

Oh yummers! Our burgers last night for a late dinner/break in the move were TERRIFIC! I had the veg, of course, and it was tasty as heck. The fries were salty but still crispy and delish. Wife had the frank burger, came with a hotdog, and she ate every bite. Friend had the one with mushrooms and onions (forgot the name now). All were finished completely. The onion rings were almost perfect. The onion broke when I bit into it and didn't pull out of the fried part. Not sure if that's good or bad but I was happy about it. WOOOO Vera's!

I've eaten at the Davie street location as well as this one and neither times have I been particularly impressed with the food. I mean yeah, it's a burger, therefore tasty, but Vera's burgers always make me feel kind of sick. Maybe it's the hamburger quality, but every time I've eaten a burger from there it just sits in my stomach like a big meaty rock until my body is finally able to force it out, which is usually a somewhat uncomfortable experience. Everything is kind of pricey for what it is too, just sayin.
The restaurant itself is neat and the staff is very friendly and hardworking. I'm sure they should be getting paid more than they are. It also makes me happy to see staff with facial piercings, especially hot boys with piercings :) I'm not saying I won't go here anymore, but I won't be going out of my way to do so. -

I love Veras burgers. They are mega tasty. I found the staff at this location to be very friendly and serviced me as fast as they could. Afterall, cooking a burger from raw meat on a grill does take longer than a frozen mcdonalds burger in a deep frier.
I do have one problem. I have eaten 3 burgers from veras over the past 6 months form 3 different locations. this one, south granville and denman and all 3 times got heinous diarrhea. Their bacteria content must be high. I'm not sure why, but I would be curious to see how much bacteria and which kinds are in their food. I wont be going there again for this reason alone. Which is unfortunate, because I really enjoy the taste of their burgers. -

I'm sad to read other Yelpers had bad service experiences at this location. I've only been here twice (in the last month even!) and both times I've had super friendly service from whomever was working. Yesterday the young guy behind the counter even brought our order to our table, then asked if he could bring us napkins, too, when he saw we hadn't grabbed any yet.
As far as the burgers are concerned - I'm a vegetarian, but not a vegetarian who quit meat because I didn't like the taste of it. Vera's veggie burger is REALLY meat like (other vegetarians be aware), so meat like that I actually had to double check that they'd given me a veggie patty on my first visit. Once that was confirmed I dug into my burger with delight. My dining companion this time around ordered the lamb burger and practically inhaled it - commenting after he'd finished that it was "Damn good!" I had to ask him if he had even tasted it due to the speed at which it disappeared.... I was still only half way through mine.
Vera, you satisfy my periodic burger cravings and allow me to do it cruelty free... thanks for that! Plus, you've got beer! It was only $11.95 a pitcher yesterday (Sunday). -

Looking for a burger on Commercial drive? My advise unfortunately is DO NOT GO HERE.
Loud interior, incompetent order takers, and a VERY rude manager. wow. lethal combination. My burger had things on it that I didn't even order, things I do not like, she offered to "scrape them off" ? ewww. She then frowned at my request for a new one, took way-y-y-y-y-y too long to make it, and never even apologized. Why would a business owner have people like that working for them? I have heard that other locations of Veras are good ones. Maybe they should just stick with those. -

I love Vera's on Davie, so I stopped in here one afternoon. The food was just as good as what I have come to expect.
The experience was not as good. From the time I got in line to order, to the time I had placed my order, all the tables had filled up. I got a cup for water, and the water came out tasting like soda water.
Things moved a little slow here- but they were busy. Right after I got my food, a table did clear up (thank you!). I still like Vera's, but given the choice I'd pick the other location. -

Vera's Burger Shack boasts that its all about full fat, greasy food... it says right on the wall, if you're on a diet you shouldn't be there! Seriously. The burgers looked really disgusting to me, so I opted for a grilled cheese sandwich from the kids menu, and that still felt like as I was eating, I was clogging my arteries.
Yes, I have heard some good things about this place - so maybe everyone should go check it out on their own; but honestly, unless you want to end up in the hospital I wouldn't make a habit out of it. -

I went here and ordered the 4 cheese burger. Disappointed it took 20+ minutes, took my order to go. My burger was totally soggy and pinky in the middle so I just ate the edges. It's sure no splitz grill!! Overrated in my opinion

Vera's, what can you say? The burger was good, not spectacular but decent. The atmosphere is very "burger shack" and the fries are very good... Nice and crispy! A good place for a consistently good burger.

Was looking forward to finally getting a burger there. Staff were pleasant on this day, however the burger was gross. May drop by again for a water or juice, but will never eat a burger there again.
