I've only been there once when I made a trip to Ottawa, but it absolutely set the bar for sex shops for me. It was my first and I haven't been able to find one that I can tolerate since.
It's a lovely store that's empowering for all genders. Top quality products and not just items related to sex. I bought a beautiful Women of Ottawa or Ontario (can't remember, but it was made locally) annual wire-bound planner there, and some other educational books that I gave away as gifts to conservative folks that would never have guessed it came from a sex shop.
I was so impressed with this place, and I hope to find something like it locally. When I go into other shops, they feel so sleazy, but Venus Envy is the type of shop I'd proudly take anyone.

Absolutely nothing!

Great place for real gifts
Great selection of educational items
Comfortable environment that made me feel great!
I wish there was a Venus Envy in every city!! -

But how do they prevent shop lifting with the toys just sitting there?! Apart from that an excellent store with a healthy view on sex!

Non-judgmental, clean (clean sex store- no it isn't an oxymoron), informative and reasonably priced. They have a great variety and great staff who are so very helpful.

Simply put, Venus Envy is the upscale adult store of Ottawa. They sell high-quality sex -toys, feminist/queer/sexual health literature, zines (awesome ones!), oils, lube.....jeeze..everything, in a clean shop with a great vibe run by friendly, cool, knowledgeable women.
They've also got workshops and events that are held in-store, which I have never been to, but must be a success since they keep having them.
Americans: this is the Babeland of Ottawa.
Ottawans: be proud! -

Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable all in a positive space. If you're looking for a porn shop with a seedy atmosphere and creepy staff, look somewhere else. If you're looking for information on sex, sexuality and health in a store supportive of all genders and orientations, come to Venus Envy. There is limited parking on site, but plenty of options nearby. Bicycle and transit friendly.

Absolutely fantastic! I don't even know where to start! It's not only a store that sells sex toys and lubes, but it is also a place to be educated. They offer a fair selection of books and literature, as well as workshops and speaks. I've had a few sexual health classes in the past, and the Venus Envy staff has been great at coming in and talking about a wide variety of things, from different sex toys and how to use them, to disability and self-examination. There are testers for the lubes and toys on the shelf, so you can easily feel the quality and functions before purchasing. The prices for their products and workshops are reasonable, but more than anything, the staff is incredibly knowledgeable, open-minded, and non-judgmental. They try their best to make you feel relaxed, welcome, and comfortable. You can ask questions or even just browse around, and if you're looking for anything in particular, I'm sure you'll find it, and if you don't, they are happy to find it for you. It's fun environment and there's no pressure, assumptions, or expectations to buy anything. It is a positive, safe space, open to all people of varying ages, sexes, genders, sexual orientations, and walks of life.
