If I was a poet I would write an epic poem about my relationship with Velo's.
As a young child, our family business was located two doors down from Velo's in the same strip mall. I spent alot of time at the business with my Dad and he ran a tab at the pizza shop. That meant anytime I was hungry I could wander in through the backdoor and order a delicious slice or sub. Sometimes I would go over and sit on a sauce bucket and watch them toss pizza dough. It was a chubby kid's dream! I can remember in the summer of 94, I would ride my bike from home to the shop, park my bike out back, grab a sub and put it on tab and then ride on to my friend Liam's house. Life was good, Velo's was great.
The pizza is exactly the same as it was in the mid-late 80's - super dough-y and oldschool. I hate thin crust, and I hate those flat, manufactured crusts even more. I want a nice ridge to rip off and eat last - bread is my best friend and nemesis all in one,
I don't live in the north end anymore and very rarely order pizza (I will grab a slice at Jessys in CP, 2 seconds from my home, instead of ordering a whole and dangerous pizza!) but when I do want a delicious pie, this is where I will go! Num, num, num. -

Velos pizza in the one that satisfies our late night craving. It is close to the home we had, great delivery time for us.
It is the old style pizza, always hot and lots of cheese, regular crusts, and they are not cheap with their toppings.
They usually have a special running and of course the slice for lunch. There is an section to eat in.
I think this will satisfy your craving -

Velos Pizza located on Almond Street is a place that I can actually say that I have been going for about 25 years. Pretty bad when they know you by name. They now know to make my pizza thin crust as I do not like a think one. Brain still works there and makes a great pizza with plenty of topping making it have substance. Sometimes when you go to some location you can see then weighing the cheese etc, not here. Plus they have one of the older oven that cook then crispy not those run through ones.
Menu consist of many different things like hamburgers, pasta salads to go. Lunch time there are always fresh slices to grab.
