      So.
      Much.
      Cheesecake.

I'm not sure I even know that was a valid concept until tonight. But after five amazing samples of cheesecake, I feel it can, in very rare circumstances, be true.

Let's start at the beginning. I was late so I can't tell you how the evening started. But, just after I arrived (greeted by the always affable Ben) the cheesecake samples started rolling out of the kitchen. There was also coffee and a variety of tea to be enjoyed but I was locked in on the cheesecake.

After sampling some amazing cheesecake, it was time for a contest. The contest: the person who could name the date closest to when Sweet Hereafter would win a free cheesecake. Of their choosing. Whenever they wanted it.
The catch? In order to guess you had to pose in Sweet Hereafter's photobooth. Not that most people really needed much goading. There were tons of fun props to spice up your shoot.
Alas, I did not win but, really, the fun was in the guessing and posing.

Then there was more cheesecake and iced tea. It was at this point that I began to worry about the amount of cheesecake I was allowing myself...

As always at a Yelp event, the star attraction is the people. Lots of smiles, good conversation and hearty laughter filled the beautiful space.

Oh? And the best slice of cheesecake? Easily the pumpkin maple. The maple was very subtle and the pumpkin was delicious. If you like pumpkin pie, you will love this cheesecake.

If you were debating whether or not it's worth putting in the time to write enough reviews to become a Yelp Elite, let me put the debate to rest for you... it is. It absolutely is.

With a group of wonderful, food-loving Haligonians, Yelp introduced me to the Sweet Hereafter and its remarkable assortment of vegan cheesecake. Vegan cheesecake you say? Wouldn't that be gross? No. It's not. It's amazing.

We tried 5 varieties and each one was delicious. My preference (in order) was: Chocolate Raspberry, Maple Pumpkin (you will DIE for this crust), Chocolate Peanut Butter, Oreo, and Coconut-Lime.

The space is chic and trendy, the owners are lovely, the company was great, and the food was A+.

Thank you to Yelp and our always wonderful Community Manager - Ben Boudreau - for hosting such a tasty event.

Oh. My. Goodness. This event was incredible.

I keep saying that each elite event is better than the last, and that totally applies here, but I really don't know what could top this outstanding event. Being that I'm a dairy-free, gluten-free (most of the time) person, this event was heavenly!

We tested 5 vegan cheesecakes (one of which was GF) while the owners told us their story of how the business concept originated and told us about the different flavour creations. The best part: the flavours are really endless - they are constantly playing with different ingredients, so there is always a nice variety when you come in for a slice.

      The five we tested were:
      Chocolate Peanut Butter
Mango Line Coconut (gluten free crust)
      Maple Pumpkin
      Oreo Cookie
      Raspberry Chocolate

I'm torn between the Mango Lime Coconut and Raspberry Chocolate as favorites. Honestly, they were all fantastic, and if the vegan ones taste this good, I can only imagine how decadent and delicious the full dairy-laden versions are. Best part: they don't feel overwhelming in your belly the way some other rich cheesecakes do. You wont be sick after eating a full slice.

Besides the great eats, they have locally roasted Laughing Whale coffee, soda pops and a homemade green tea lemon beverage that was out-of-this-world amazing. The decor is chic and fun, so while your tasting something decadent, you feel decadent as well! All I can say is that I hope that downtown is jealous that Quinpool is home to this gem of a business.

I loved the addition of the photobooth that we all took a turn in. Michelle Doucette was on hand to shoot us, and everyone had a good laugh with the aid of the tickle trunk. My favorite items? The white gloves and string of pearls, dalhing!

It was fantastic to see some familiar Yelp faces and meet some new ones. And, it was a great space to get to know more about each other and compare tasting notes with each other. Awesome event!

Goodness, gracious, ass bodacious... I can quite quickly see myself becoming a regular at Sweet Hereafter.

This lovely yelp elite event showcased some vegan cheesecakes from one of the best spots in town. I love checking out the new joints in town and especially love doing it with a great crowd of folks.

Kudos to Ben and his exceptionalness for organizing this one for my belly. I took Jud along with me as I knew I'd be in mega trouble if I had cake with people other than him. He didn't even mind the fact they were made with tofu and he is the biggest meat dude ever.

Of the 5 cheesecakes (tofu inspired) that were up to bat, my absolutely fav were the peanut butter chocolate, maple pumpkin, and chocolate raspberry. I loved all 5 but I thought these 3 in particular brought their A game.

I can see Sweet Hereafter pleasing the vegan AND gluten free community of Halifax.

There certainly is tons of personality in the cakes and the joint itself. Not the mention, the owners are top notch hostesses!

Ps: Their green tea drink. Hells yes.

      Another perfect event!

I'm so incredibly happy that this place exists. The cheesecake was amazing, and to see another awesome place opening up in this city is inspirational.

Amazing cheesecake, great company, and the opportunity to learn about a cool new business. Just perfect.

Being my first Yelp Elite event (but not my first Yelp soirée), I kind of had a feel what to expect. But lo and behold I was surprised yet again...

Sweet Hereafter is gorgeous. Fun decor, with spots for a group or an intimate pair. I loved the red chairs so I plunked my arse there for the night (I'm a sucker for bright and cushy). Ben (as I am coming to learn) was extremely well prepared with fun props and plans for all. What a host! You should do it for a living... Wait... Moving on.

All of us were settled, Ben gave his intro to the evening and away we went! Fresh (and delicious) coffee and tea at the ready. Then out comes the cheesecake-first of five I might add!! Around the room they went, giving out these dishes of sweet, creamy goodness. Peanut butter, coconut, lime, pumpkin, maple, Oreo, raspberry, chocolate. These are the flavours which we sampled, each one offering a different experience of cheesecake joy.

I loved the fact that the owners take such pride (and responsiveness) in their work and products. They wanted feedback and actively sought it out. How refreshing is that? The fact that they offer options for straight-up, vegan and gluten-free is impressive and to give the customer these types of choices is a smart decision.

My friend (and guest) also enjoyed every part of the evening. She was enthused over the food and I would take it as high praise as she is an excellent cook and baker. I think she wants to join yelp!!!

A fun evening, spending time with old and new friends, enjoying one of my favourite things...dessert! What more could a girl want?

I will return to both... Sweet Hereafter and Yelp Events. Both are excellent experiences.

This was my first Elite event and what a way to kick off the year!! What a fantastic night! Great people! Amazing cheesecake!

Out of the 5 fabulous flavors we tried I would have to say my fav's were the Peanut Butter Chocolate and the Chocolate Raspberry. But this was a hard choice to make, since all of the samples were to die for!

Colin MacDougall really knows his flavors and he's not afraid to experiment either! His knowledge, passion and drive to surprise makes this cheesecakery a winner. The cheesecake is so light and full of flavor without leaving you feeling like you added 10 lbs to your waistline.

I now have a new obsession and look forward to heading back and having a full slice (or two) of this deliciousness.

Thanks for a great night all!! :D

I know I give all Yelp reviews five stars, but in particular this event made for a really fabulous night.

I kicked things off by chatting with a few Yelp Elites over champagne cocktails at Seasons in the Atlantica Hotel. Then we wandered down to Sweet Hereafter, and I had no idea what I was in store for.

The decor? Adorable, chic, so much fun. The owners? Enthusiastic and delightful. The cheesecake? SO GOOD! And - you wouldn't believe it if you weren't told - vegan. Vegan and freakin' delicious.

We tried five - my favorites were the peanut butter chocolate, the raspberry chocolate and the maple pumpkin. Coconut fans also really enjoyed the lime coconut with mango sauce, and there was a tasty oreo one as well. There was also tea, coffee, delicious lemon green iced tea thing that was so refreshing.

It was such a fun night of great conversations with cool people, plus Michelle Doucette was there to take hilarious photos of everyone all dolled up with crazy props at a funky photo booth.

Seriously, guys? This is why it's so amazing to be part of the Yelp Elite. What a fab night.

Good lord Yelpers, we are so lucky to have Mr Ben Boudreau leading the charge here in Halifax. What a fantastic night! From the pre-event drinks at Seasons, to the cheesecake-filled evening, just stellar.

I love checking out new businesses in town (especially if they're promising me cheesecake that I can actually eat), so this was the perfect opportunity to visit. As always, Ben cultivates the perfect party environment, just the rest mix of booze, friendly faces and delicious eats. And Michelle is probably the loveliest paparazzi one could ask for -- never too in your face, but captures the fun-loving atmosphere perfectly.

I super recommend giving the Sweet Hereafter a try -- the co-owners are just a delight, and run their business the way a business should be run. They want to hear feedback, tweak their recipes to your needs and make your experience the best it can be. Win win win.

Oh, and the vegan cheesecake itself? Un-freaking-believably good. Would prefer to eat it over regular cheesecake good. Can't wait for another opportunity to visit!

How sweet is Sweet Hereafter? So sweet! The place is delectably decorated in shimmering fabrics, brocade wallpapers, cosy, comfortable seating.

And then you add Ben's party flair and wonderful Elite friends, and the magic has begun.

The absolutely incredible vegan cheesecakes trotted out by the delightful, friendly, warm and genuine owners were the proverbial icing on the cake. But what icing! I only got to sample a couple, because I had to leave to rescue the babysiter, but I am still dreaming of the maple-pumpkin variety two days later.

I will be back, and Yelp party aside, I know it will be yet another amazing experience.
