Raymond K. hit the nail on the head when he said it takes courage to make a vegan pizza place. But these guys did it! I found this place when I googled "Vegan gluten-free pizza Vancouver" and found this place. The gluten-free crusts at Boston Pizza and Me n Ed's were not options since neither place provides soy cheese and the crusts contain eggs (I developed an egg sensitivity).
Friday afternoon, I went there and ordered a gluten-free medium pizza topped with spinach, tomatoes, onion and hot peppers. I took it home and it was surprisingly good. The crust was a bit tough on the edges but the toppings were plentiful and the cheese/sauce mix was ooey gooey!
I shared some of it with my gluten-free neighbor and she loved it! I even gave her a flyer so she knows where to get it.
I recommend this place for its friendly service (for now it's best to take out or eat in) and good pizza. -

Euugh.
As a person who can't eat the wheat, I totally commiserate with those who choose not to eat the meat -- I get it, I like those little critters too. Also, I tend to eat mostly vegetarian at home anyway, so it's no big leap to get me a veggie pie when the gluten-free variety is available. Vegan, on the other hand, I mostly just can't get down with. Anything that parades around pretending to be something it's not just doesn't sit well with me... or with my stomach, for that matter.
But I'm an open-minded girl (also: slightly lazy), so when I found out that Vegan Pizza House delivered AND had an option for the glutarded, my fingers couldn't dial that number fast enough. Now if only they were that fast delivering the actual pizza, but that's another story.
This story is about the saddest pie that was ever made. Now, it's a rare day in robin-land when half a pizza sits in the fridge, untouched, for over a week, but this one was *that* unappetizing. The crust was more like cornbread (not crispy, not chewy, but more of an odd sponge-like texture), and the toppings were so lame. SO LAME. I get it, Daiya cheese isn't something they can control (as an aside, it is official: I don't do Daiya), but look: if you're going to do vegan food and nothing more, then you'd better have some rillyrilly fresh, beautiful veggies for your pies. But no, not here - I got the Garden Special, and it looked as though it came from the saddest garden that ever lived. And what's with the canned pre-sliced olives? Eugh. It was all so, so very sad.

Update:
After ordering delivery for a friend a second time, the pizza guy had a warmer box for the pizza. The pizza was slightly warmer. I still reheated it in the oven anyways as we like crispy and not sagging crust. Just thought I'd update that they tried.1 Previous Review: Show all »

The pizza tastes great but holy heck... are they high? They frequently forget to get the most basic info. Delivery times are strangely long. But the pizza is good and there aren't any other options for dairy-free pizza so... Ah well.

Having recently injured my back I've found myself on my ass and relying on deliveries to live, but as I don't want to end up airlifted into a piano-box coffin, I decided to only order vegan pizza. You might think that would get boring, but with 23 toppings on the menu I'd have to eat pizza three times a day for something like 23601480000000000000 years? Maybe my math is off.
So I see these guys every few hours, and it really is the highlight of my day. Their customer service falls just short of sponge-bathing. I almost talked them into it though, I think. That's how good a pizza place this is. -

I LOVE VEGAN PIZZA HOUSE! If you are vegan, vegetarian, lactose intolerant, or anyone who loves pizza you will like this joint. The non dairy (and soy free, hooray Daiya) cheese is melty and oohey goohey. The sauce is delish. The people are friendly and the animals are left unharmed. Thank you Vegan Pizza House for delivering not only the best vegan pizza in town, but the best of any kind of pizza. Also the ceasar salad is AWESOME.

Well, my friends swear by this place, but I will not be having vegan pizza from here again. Guess daiya just isn't my thing * gag *
For me a vegan pizza with just sauce and vegetables would be better, even if it falls apart a bit. -

DELIVERY
Listen: the pizza was great. Really, it was delicious. I've never had vegan pizza of this calibre. It reminded me of the pizza I ate when I was a kid. Doughy crust, deliciously ungourmet toppings, melty cheese. The ham they use tastes like I remember Pizza Hut ham tasting! Mind you, it has been a while. We tried the All Dress pineapple-mushroom-ham pizza and it was incredible. I want another one. Vegetarian Special was pretty good too, but nothing mindblowing.
Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was subpar. First of all, while the menu says there's an eat-in discount, really what it is is a delivery charge. I paid $40 for two large pizzas. To add to that, the delivery guy couldn't figure out how to charge my credit card. Said it wouldn't work. Then, we tried my friend's card, and it "wouldn't work" either. Funny that both of our cards were broken. We had to run out and get cash and by the time the pizza arrived we'd waited more than 1.5 hours. Plus, my friend got a $0.01 charge on his card even though we paid cash.
As good as the food is, I feel like these guys need to figure out how the rest of the restaurant business works - customer service and understanding their machinery.
I probably will not order delivery again. I might visit the storefront at some point, but my experience was too frustrating for me to want to repeat it.
STOREFRONT
So after my mediocre delivery experience, I decided to visit Vegan Pizza House's location on Victoria and Kingsway. The completely uncharming little space was not impressive, but I have an open mind. I understand that it's difficult to design a totally contemporary-cool restaurant on a budget. I do think that the space has loads of potential that is not even remotely being used.
Anyway, my friend Jared and I decided to split a combo - a small three-topping pizza, lasagna, salad, and garlic toast for $17. We got loads of food - and the pizza, as I mentioned above, is delicious. We went for sundried tomato, mushroom, and artichoke pizza. Wow, it was so good. Perfect crust, a great amount of Daiya cheese, and good toppings.
The lasagna reminded me of the frozen ones my uncle would buy from the store when I was a kid and he was taking care of us while my parents were out of town. It was tomato sauce, ground "beef", noodles, and daiya. I would not call it lasagna, but I guess it's like the stuff pizza delivery places do.
Salad was iceberg lettuce with thousand island dressing. Garlic toast was tasty but, well, it's bread soaked in garlic oil. And it was orange somehow.
All of the dishes were disposable. Everything we got. When we asked for water, it was in a paper cup. The forks and knives were plastic. Oh, it made me so sad. :(
When it came time to pay, I, ready with my debit card, was informed their machine was out of paper and they couldn't accept any cards. Oh brother. Luckily my lunch date had brought cash!
VERDICT
VPH, your pizza is SERIOUSLY SO GOOD, but you need to address every other aspect of the business. Professionalism, preparation, environmental friendliness, and design are also important considerations when running a business. Again, I will say that I want you to succeed. I want Vancouver to continue having this awesome vegan pizza around. But please, PLEASE address these issues. For someone like myself who so desperately wants to open a vegan restaurant, seeing people try SO half-heartedly makes me sad.Listed in: Vegan Vancouver

How can words honestly describe my feelings towards this heaven pizzeria in Vancouver?
First of all, I'd like to mention I had never gone to Loving Hut Pizza, so I'm not going to be comparing the two, obviously.
As someone who has tried their far share of vegan pizzas, I can say that the junky Vegan Pizza Joint is truly making the BEST. Loaded with daiya and an epic array of toppings, from every vegan meat on the market, to loaded veggie, this pizza is truly divine. Also keep in mind that I'm in love with daiya, but even if you're only a semi-fan, this will put you over the edge.
I just went there today, again, and now they have new items I just HAD to try. Vegan Donairs. Yes, you read that write. Beef, chicken, or both. I personally chose the chicken, and man was it beyond what I was expecting. A delicious marinated vegan chicken, with Greek vegan tsaziki, tomatoes, and lettuce, wrapped in a great soft pita. Next time, I'd gone far enough to say I'd skip the pizza JUST for the donair.
They also now have vegan bubble tea, which makes me so pleased as I was a big fan of the cruelty inducing original. The Banana-Soya with Mango jelly was to die for.
I also love the vegan caesar they whip up. It takes great and comes with a delicious warm garlic bread. Yum....
Just a note on service. They have great employees, but not many of them, so it's slow as molasses. Expect an hour for delivery, and half that just in house. Notice that my stars are still at 5. That's how great this place is. -

If you're under the impression that vegan food tastes like wallpaper paste, you haven't had the opportunity to try good vegan food, which is the same as never having good Mexican, Indian, or Thai food. Don't judge until you've had the real thing!
I called to pick up (they give you a discount!) a veggie pizza with spinach, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, and artichoke, in my quest to eat more veggies and try two new things at once: Vegan Pizza House and Daiya "Cheese", which I kept seeing in stores.
A medium pizza, loaded with veggies, came to $13.50 including HST, and was really good!! The crust was fluffy and soft, but very crispy on the edges and bottom. The "cheese" tastes just like the real thing, and the veggies were plentiful. No complaints!
Service was pleasant, the food was good, there's literature and posters with info about going vegan if you're into that lifestyle. Also available: Gluten-free crusts, vegan cupcakes and bubble tea!
Visit if you're in the hood! I hope they make a lot of money so they can get rid of those chairs.Listed in: East Van, Yo!

Went in for a Gluten free diary free pizza!! Awesomeness that they offer that and the price isn't bad! The size is good too. I had a small one and it was enough to share it with someone else. They only had enough gluten free dough left to make one small pizza - so good thing that was all I needed. My sister had a regular vegan meat pizza and a bubble tea (except they were out of bubbles but had the coconut jelly), my Dad had a beef donair and my Mom shared the gluten free one with me.
The gluten free crust was more on the crunchy side - but it worked well as you were able to pick up the pizza if need be. I still prefer a fork and knife but it was hard to cut with the knife since it was crispier. Tasted like it had cornmeal in it and a fair amount of oil. The flavour was nice. So far the closest thing I've had to regular pizza crust is the Chebe crust I bought in the states. I wonder why no one else can make it like that. It was soft in the inside and crispy on the out. Anyway, bit of a rabbit trail.. back to the topic...
I had the vegetarian one and it had lots of veggie toppings. There was just a small sprinkling of daiya cheese - could have used a tad more. The tomato sauce was fairly bland. It could use some more spices or salt or something.
My sister enjoyed her meatless meat pizza and thought the crust was really good. Dad said he couldn't find the imitation beef in the donair.
They could definately stand to upgrade their decor but I really don't care that much since it's the food that matters most. It's cool that they offer the pizza and I might try delivery sometime. Overall, it's still cheaper and just as good to pick up some gluten free crusts or make some at home with as much "cheese" and sauce as I want but it is nice to have the occasional meal out so I will probably go back. It's the best deal for a gluten free pizza from a restaraunt in Vancouver that I've tried so far.Listed in: Gluten Free Joints

Making vegan pizzas as a business takes courage. So, thank you for doing that.
I visited the place many times. I usually ordered the Vegetarian Special. For a few times, the crust seemed too moist. I think they corrected it. The pizza looked pretty much like a regular pizza. Very tasty.
I also tried the spaghetti with mushroom. Wow!! That was amazing!! I really like it!! I think they got veggie ground beef in it as well.
While the products were good, I just wish they could improve the place's appearance. It looked really rather unattractive. When so many vegetarian shops and restaurants looked so modern and inviting, it just looked odd to have a shop looking like it was an old shop in a small town. -

More people need to know about this. Delicious pizza with gooey creamy daiya cheese, fresh veggie stuffs, amazing "meat" toppings, and perfect crust. It's vegan, but the best greasy-pizza-joint kind of vegan. Even if you're not vegan you will still love it. Seriously. Also, I've always had great experience with the staff here; superb customer service!
Bonus: Something like 10% off if you pick up!
Other bonus: They apparently now have gluten-free crust if you're into that. -

I've experienced far better vegan pizza in Vancouver. I took my mom to Loving Hut on Broadway before it shut down due to fire damage from the restaurant next door and we devoured the pizza there. I heard this place was somehow affiliated with the same group, so when my mom came back to town, we rented a Car2Go to head out here to try to rekindle that meal experience.
This is not a place you want to eat. Sadly, we weren't prepared to do take-away so we did. The Loving Hut was clean and modern, but this place is as dingy as any other by-the-slice pizza joint, so much so that I had to ask if they were really the vegan place.
The crust is a thicker pan crust and not the thin crispy crust like at the Loving Hut. If you like doughy crust, you can ignore this. The toppings were perhaps too plentiful and everything ended up sliding off my pizza. Overall, my impression was meh.
We took the remainder back home. My mom and I both tried some the next day (isn't next day the real measure of a pizza?) and we both couldn't eat it.
Next weekend, I bought my mom some daiya cheese at Whole Foods and she made her own pizza and enjoyed it much more. I won't be making the trek back out to this place when she visits next. -

Let me first start by saying that as a chef and owner of my own establishment - a large part of me disagrees with online reviews. They can be biast and harmful to someone's livihood. I am the type of person who prefers to complain in person so that hopefully it can be rectified on spot. In a perfect world - any dissatisfied customer of mine would do the same so I could do everything in my power to ensure that they walked away happy. Well... Vegan Pizza House and I do not share the same business practice's.
It was not the rude customer service I got while placing my delivery order, or the 2 hour wait for the food to show up that caused me to go online and disregard my stance on reviews and slander someone else's business. Nor was it the fact that my so called pizza was completely cold when it did show up, or the fact that even if the pizza was hot it still would have been the worst meal in memory. All of the above I could easily walk away from and chalk it up to a bad experience and possibly an off night for the Vegan Pizza House. So having endured all that and not feeling the need to write my first review in history let alone a nasty one - what could the tipping point be you ask?
I recieved a call from the owner the following day and they told me they took down my credit card number wrong and needed me to confirm. Ok - no problem but first I want to air my greviences with you prior to me paying $40 for 2 small pizza's that were 90% comprised of dough and ketchup for tomato sauce. The owner nonclauntly responded that they are a small restaurant and they were busy. Hmm. So size and volume gives you the right to sell crappy food cold while dishing out the worst customer service ever? I didn't want a free meal as I would have paid any amount of money to watch my lactose intolerant partner enjoy a slice of za like the rest of us pizza lovers do. Bad excuse for pizza or not. A simple acknowlegment of their mistake would have satisfied me. Instead all I got was a tummy ache and lost 30 minutes of precious time to sit here and be negative. So unfortunate.
Go elsewhere for dinner. Most likely this place won't be around for long anyhow. -

This is a small cash only pizza joint at Victoria and Kingsway. Great prices and there is a discount if you pickup your pizza. We had the Cooks Special. The pizza was gooey with daiya "cheese", the crust was fresh and the toppings plentiful. I am not a vegan, but can't eat dairy, so usually pizza is not an option for me. This was a great find. The Vegan Pizza House is definitely worth a visit!!

Oh how I love thee.
The pizza is exactly what I've missed: kind of greasy, in no way gourmet, so very very delicious.
Two slices for under $4 makes a great lunch, but my new obsession is the chicken donair. This may be my favourite thing to eat in the entire city.
The people are incredibly kind and friendly, have offered me free samples of new dishes, and offer consistently great pizza. -

This past weekend, I visited Vancouver for the first time. I hail from Los Angeles. During my stay there, I frequented several vegan restaurants, and Vegan Pizza House was on the top of my best list. I like my pizza crust old school standard, not flat or deep dish. Most vegan pizza that I've had uses flat crust and it just doesn't hit the spot for me. Also, the cheese was plentiful and melted to perfection which warmed me up nicely. The two Asian guys manning the pizza place were also cool dudes. They asked how my friend and I liked our crust and personalized the pizza for us. I recommend this place 110%. One of the highlights of the trip.
