Review from Trudi C.
With the wet weather, it's a perfect time to relax indoors curled up with a book (...and a hot chocolate!). This is the closest branch to me, open every day of the week, with drop off points both inside and out, as well as a nice handy bike park out the front. Great view of the city and mountains too!
It's not too big inside, but I've usually found what I've been looking for. I've yet to ever see a free computer space though, and when I do look on the monitors, it seems everyone is Facebooking or looking at the Youtube ;) Oh oh, it's 'research', ahem! There are terminals all along one wall for everyone to hook up their laptops (again, never see a free space). But my fave part is by the windows at the front, facing the mountains, where you'll find a fireplace with some comfy chairs. Nice and cozy! -

Small cozy library that's tucked away in the corner of the community center. On the right side of the library where the noise of crying babies and sounds of children running is where the kids section is. On the left side is which is quiet and peaceful is where the adult section is. I didn't know the right side was for children until today when I sat down at a table to study; all I heard was babies crying and kids talking and running. I wanted to pull my hair out!!
They got plenty of computers for the public to use and also free wifi. For the wifi, you need to have a library card to access it or you can get a guest access card from the front desk. -

It's a very small library. When you enter, to the right is a children's area and to the left is the adult section. Everyone is on a computer or laptop, playing games.

Recent, new facility that is well done with clean, modern taste. I needed immediate interwebz usage and this place was super close to Cycle BC, so off went here.

It's sad that this poor little library is orphaned during construction of a new mega location. My review touches on it only in its present state.
The one-room library is a frenzy on noise and action. I've never seen a library this busy.
I stopped by for a particular book and found it not in its promised location. But a helpful staff member quickly located the guidebook for me and I scooted out of the mania quietly. The collection, I'd say, is geared mostly to families. So children, novels, etc. Not a spot to study or use for reference material.
I was surprised initially (before I knew of the development plans at 1 Kingsway) that this is the closest library to this section of vibrant Main Street. It's sandwiched in a mall, of all things. Strangeness is alive in Vancouver.
I really appreciated how the staff were prevailing despite the madness. But perhaps knowing that sunnier days are ahead is enough. Hurry up Vancouver and do-right by this little library! -

Definitely this location suffers from being in a small room. It's temporary, but one never knows just how temporary.
Honestly, though, compared to the last Kingsgate location, this is about the same. Things are arranged a bit differently but the selection hasn't downgraded that much. Also, They definitely follow the good initiatives of bringing the inner city/less privileged libraries some of the top material. You aren't sifting through piles of junk or old books here. In fact, it's easier to find some of the newer material here.
I'm from Edmonton where mall libraries are the norm and this one does a pretty good job considering the size and space. It's all a bit confusingly laid out, but if anyone's been resilient in the shifting it's the staff and they're just as helpful and chipper as ever! -

Poor little temporary Mount Pleasant library location. You keep getting passed around the Kingsgate Mall as you wait for your permanent home at 1 Kingsway. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait so keep your head up. Despite your one small one room I've still managed to find a stack full of books to bring home. Even though you keep shrinking, I'm glad you are still around.
