Review from J J.
What a beautiful hotel! We used "name your own price" on Priceline and snagged a king room on the 31st floor for just over $80. The hotel is modern and gorgeous, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was fully appointed, with a luxurious king bed, nice sized flat screen TV, mini bar, large bathroom, sitting area, and a coffee maker. There was also a very convenient charging station for phones and laptops. The location is in the heart of downtown, just a couple of blocks to the waterfront, a 5-minute walk to shopping and dining on Robson street, and within a couple of blocks buses and the Skytrain. There are also cabs ready and waiting in the front of the hotel.
What really made this hotel worth 5 stars, though, was the staff. From the friendly doorman to the helpful and accommodating front desk staff, to the housekeeper who brought us extra blankets after our chilly day in the rain...everyone just seemed to bend over backwards to make us feel like important guests. We were sad that we could only stay one night. -

With Vancouver being such a beautiful city, and people from all over the world coming to visit, sometimes it is nice to stay in your own city as a tourist and see what standards they live in to enjoy what we call home. Over the weekend I had the chance with my partner to stay an enjoy a night at this place. The 'star' ratings are what rates a place in the hotel industry, and on many sites this place ranks a good 4-Stars. The location is quite nice, down on West Hastings and Thurlow, and being in Vancouver, everything really is in walking distance. Unfortunately on this night we were faced toward the South view (if you get a chance try to get up and facing to the North - mountain/cauldron view!).
I can say I was not too impressed, for where it is located, and who is now the name of the building (as this used to be the Delta Pinnacle). It was a standard run-of-the-mill type room. The washroom itself was not too bad, with a tub, and right beside, a shower, and as a whole, pretty large. The room itself, with the king size bed, the words tight come to mind, as there is not much room to manuever. No fridge in-suite, so if you need anything refrigerated, like we did on this night, go down to the check-in desk and use the valet bag service.
The bed was pretty comfortable, as I had a pretty good sleep. Another thing to note is the a/c-heat unit, it is pretty loud, going on and off throughout the night, which is normal to regulate temperature, but it is noisy, and if you are a light sleeper, I have a feeling you will be waken up by this!
If you have a car, try parking somewhere else, as the lot rates here are upwards of past $20 for the day. The cheaper rate they tell you is one where you would have to drag yourself out of bed real early to move the car! If you are here on the weekend, go up a block or two, you can either find free parking, or parking a fraction of the cost.
Had a brief stroll of the gym, workout facilities, and they did use some money here, where all the equipment is new. A nice little touch here is that they provide fresh apples to hotel guest in the gym, and at the main lobby. Also most of the cardio machines have tv's, and they provide brand new (free of charge) ear phones for your disposal.
I booked through Priceline's "Name Your Own Price" and got this for around $90. Worth the price, but if it was the regular rate, I would have to pause on that thought. -

Having racked up over 50 nights in this Marriott I've got a pretty good idea of what this hotel is like and what it has to offer compared to other places like the Shangri-La/Four Seasons etc.
Overall I love this place, hence choosing this place time and time again.
Location - it's an easy walk to most places in Vancouver from here and the car rental place downstairs was helpful. There's also an Urban Fare down the street. Good so far.
Check in - it's an uncomplicated check in process and assuming you don't arrive at the same time as the cabin crews and pilots it's a speedy process.
Elevators - fast and clean.
Room - not all are created equal but the rooms I've had have been ranging from good to excellent. At worst, one of the rooms had a recently renovated smell which can be offputting, to at best, top floor room with amazing views of Vancouver. Rooms are spacious and well laid out with an extra armchair and desk and chair for extra comfort. There's also a flat screen TV to help pass the time when not working. Decor is a little suspect but it seems to be the Marriott style.
Room service - staying here for an extended amount of time meant room service was ordered a few times when just too lazy to do anything else. They pick up promptly and brought the correct order every time (more than 10 times overall lol) with minimal fuss. Very friendly bunch.
Buffet breakfast/normal breakfast - did breakfast downstairs a few times and was pleased with the fare. They have everything you could want to eat here and it was fresh and tasty.
Pool/fitness center - The place was never too busy when I went and with your room card, it's easy access. The machines are modern with televisions attached and were clean and in good working order. The pool is smaller but long enough to get a number of laps in as well.
Shop - there's a small shop near the lobby to pick up some souvenirs and snakcs if needed. Had most things I needed so no complaints from me. Not the cheapest but then it is inside a hotel.....
Laundry - had to use the laundry service a few times and they delivered on time and even put stuff away when I was out once. Everything is clean and folded like new which was cute, even undershirts!!! I was most impressed.
Staff - the staff were all very friendly from check in to room service to bell boy to concierge and the doorman. Didn't have a bad experience once and if there was something I raised it was take care of immediately.
Check out - they leave you the bill the night before for your review and when you are done it's a speedy checkout, same as in most hotels these days.
Shame I'm not coming here for work anymore and missing out on all those points! lol -

I love Marriott hotels! In whichever I stayed, staff is very curteous and friendly. Rooms and facilities are nice and clean. And view from 29th floor is amazing!
Close to the convention centre and everything essential (bars, restaurants, waterfront, stores, shopping malls). You can't go wrong with it!
Free wi fi in the lobby and the restaurant! Paid in the room though. Better go downstairs for a meeting:)
Very good breakfast, and on time delivered to my room!
Would definitely recommend it! -

Very nice looking hotel in a very nice location, close to a lot of things in Vancouver. Many places to walk to and the views were great as well. Room was odd shaped, but the housekeeping staff figured out how to make a rollaway work. Only problem was that no rooms were available at check in, it seems that they are terminally sold out.

A good hotel at a great location. I was so impressed with our view of the city from our room on the 28th floor at the Marriott. When we checked in they offered an upgrade for $30/night for a water front view - if you're able to do this for a reasonable price I highly recommend it. We decided we could because we got such a great deal through http://priceline.com.
A few negatives - I was surprised that the hotel was not wired for wireless Internet access - how strange since I imagine it's mostly business travelers who frequent here. The pool area could also use some attention.
Overall, this hotel was decent. Close to the Skytrain line from the airport and just a step away from the water front. It was also really convenient to rent a car from the Pacific Car Rental located inside the hotel if you want to make a day drive to Whistler. -

While my strongest association with William Shatner is the Animaniacs parodies, he saved the day both on our long weekend and the Marriott Pinnacle's reputation.
After a brisk check-in that left us needing to discover the amenities ourselves, we didn't spend very much time awake on the premises besides a few hot tub visits, but still the city-view corner room with ample natural light, plenty of color but a somewhat anemic bathroom provided an attractive home base walking distance from multiple hotbeds of activity, dining and shopping downtown.
However, when interacting with this hotel, I spent far too much time thinking about money as opposed to leisure, as the incidental fee structure induces fear of breathing in the wrong fashion and rewards anomalous and wasteful behavior like calling the concierge to make a restaurant reservation when we'd prefer to do it ourselves like normal professionals but the service option was free and local calls were not and playing hot potato with our vehicle.
The staff, perhaps because their incomes and lifestyles are closer to ours than the full-priced tourist or corporate clientele, seemed to appreciate the ridiculousness of the situation, helpfully pointing out the $6 all weekend parking option in the same public garage utilized by the hotel in contrast to their rate of $26/night or the wi-fi with purchase at Waves a block away in contrast to $16/day for in-room wired (like it's 1999) internet.
If we'd paid the normal rate, which I'm not sure anyone ever does and, depending on season, can be upwards of $270/night and have a posted in-room rate of an astronomical $1000/night, instead of a Priceline bid of $90/night. the concern would have given way to panic and rage. Unless you are trying to free yourself at all costs from lucre that is ruining your ascetic existence, look for deals or just send me a message and I can personally help stop the spiritual bleeding by putting it to better use. -

Honestly, we stayed at the Renaissance across the street, but I accidentally checked in here...so in the interest of fairness, I'll give them a 5 star rating. :)

For the price they charge, this Marriott does not deliver. Here are some lowlights for this particular location:
1. No WiFi in your room. Really??? It's 2010 and you have to go to the lobby to get a wireless signal. With everything wireless today, you would think they could get up to speed.
2. Rooms are smallish and not very well appointed. Very basic furnishings for an upscale hotel.
3. With our Platinum Elite status we were told that the Breakfast was not offered on the weekends. I'm sorry, but with 127,000 points accrued (almost 4 months of stays) , you need to comp us 2 breakfasts. period.
4. No complimentary parking. Again, with Platinum status, this should be taken care of.
On a positive note, the staff and service was good, the location is great with stunning views of downtown and the water. The overall presentation seemed pretty basic and budget for a hotel of this class...I know from staying in other Marriott locations that they can do better. -
Review from David S.
It's odd that I'd give a hotel with Internet problems a nice review. The room was lovely and had a great view. There's no wifi in the rooms and the wired internet kept going out for the week I was in town for work. However, every morning I'd go for a little run through Stanley Park with my friend who was in town for the same event. Every time we came back from our run, the bellhop staff would be cheering us on as we returned and they'd give us bottles of water. Made me smile every time. Does that make up for a bad internet connection? Ya, it does.

Nice new hotel.
Dinner here is plentiful, but not sure it's worth the convenience
Update: food poisoning from dinner, film @ 11 pm
Hotel manager not warm & fuzzy at first, but came through with credit for the dinner from hell. Breakfast buffet compliments of the house.
I would stay here and even eat here again, but watch out for the fish and chips. -

My laundry list of complaints...
- bed could have been the worst ever. The mattress was beatup, lumpy, and not firm at all.
- pillows were the worst ever, there were about 10 total and none were down.
- local calls, cost $1.25
- I know not all hotels have complimentary WIFI and this one does not, but i've stayed at many other hotels that have
- the water in the hot tub was lukewarm, it was almost the same temperature as the swimming pool.
- AC didn't work. I like to sleep with the ac on at night and then bundle up the comforter but no, not this time. there was cold air circulating the room but we were told the coolant wasn't ready yet for another couple weeks.
Pluses? There were a couple
- we scored a corner room on 29th floor. It was bigger than your average sized room.
- service was quick and helpful.
I won't be going to this hotel again. If you want a 4 star hotel for about the same price. Go across the street to the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside or the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre. -
Review from madeline p.
I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. The view is a 4-star, the size of the room is a 3-star, quality of amenities 4-star. The bathroom was a little dirty and the HVAC smelled musty when the heater/cooler turned on. Our king room with a full harbour view was on the 28th floor and cozy. The staff was friendly, especially the valets and the bartender. A big plus, the eucalyptus steam room! I couldn't get enough.

5 stars for the professional, efficient & friendly staff, great service, location and views! What a wonderful way to experience the complete beauty of Vancouver, all while being fabulously close to the heart of restaurants, bars, shopping & nightlife. Rooms are nice & comfy, not luxury by any means (bathrooms could def use upgrading) but overall quite nice, 4 stars.
3 stars (barely) for the common areas: concierge lounge, lobby, fitness center, which are well overdue for upgrading. Regardless, people like David at the front desk & Irene in the VIP concierge lounge made my stay awesome and I'll for sure be back!
Hint: ask for a high floor room ending in xx19, xx20 or xx21 for harbour views. Fabulous. -
Review from Mimi C.
Breathtaking view of downtown Vancouver and mostly... the waterfront.
Watching the sunrise and gleam over the water on the nth floor is a
not to be missed moment.
I was lucky to stay with one of my consultant friends who's company lodges them in this awesome hotel - replete with a beautiful room and 24 hr private access to the private lounge. So my airfare and stay was free of charge! =)
The lounge itself is really sweet - again large windows with breathtaking views. They serve you continental breakfast and you can pick teas, coffees, milk... etc courtesy of the hotel. And it's one of the top floors... very professional service.
Didn't get time to check out the gym really... was too busy out and about...figured walking would've burned calories anyway!
It's only a short ways from the waterfront and the park....
just overall a gorgeous gorgeous experience. =) -

Toronto, ON
(Note: I got a pretty cheap rate on this room through http://priceline.com so I'm "curving" my review accordingly -- in absolute terms, i.e., if I were paying sticker, it's more like 3 stars)
The Pinnacle is a centrally located mega-hotel (25+ floors) near the waterfront, and that's about all that can be said about it, good or bad. The only thing that stands out about it is its friendly and competent staff. If you're not aiming for a really memorable hotel experience and want to save a few bucks while still staying somewhere that's close to most things, this is a good option.
I rarely stay at chain hotels if I can avoid it, but I found the boutique hotels in Vancouver surprisingly expensive for what they offered, and decided accommodations didn't matter that much for a one-night visit, so I made this reservation through priceline (my first time using it) and got what I felt was a pretty good deal.
We paid a $30 upgrade for a slightly bigger if unusually shaped (i.e., narrow and curving) room with an ocean view -- obscured by cranes and a few buildings, but whatever -- which I think was worth it.
As expected, the room was clean but generic -- nothing objectionable, but no little flourishes, no personality. One packet of lousy coffee. Big, comfy, clean, warm bed. I slept really well.
The staff were *extraordinarily* friendly and helpful (Oh Canada!). The nicest personnel of any non-owner-operated hotel I've ever stayed at, though I should say I didn't make any special requests apart from a couple of tourist maps and a slightly early check-in.
Less than a five minute walk from Burrard or Waterfront Skytrain stations, and perhaps 35 minutes on the train from YVR. It's the financial district, so there's not much going on in the immediate vicinity. We ventured further afield for food (see my other reviews). I've never understood or used room service at any hotel, so I can't comment on that.
For my next visit to Vancouver, which turned out to be marvellous, I'm going to spend some more time researching affordable boutique or owner-operated hotels with a little more character and some frills. But for what it is, and for what it cost me, this place was pretty good and -- with the above-mentioned caveats -- I feel I can recommend it. -
Review from Just Y.
I'm no stranger to travel, and have stayed in more hotels than I care to admit. As I get older, I seem to really need less from a hotel but expect more. This is my fourth downtown hotel I've stayed at in Vancouver so I think I'm getting a pretty good comparison going.
Price wise, they are right in line with any 3 star hotels in downtown (I don't know their actual star rating, but given that Marriott list this hotel in their rewards program as a category 5 out of 8, I think I'm pretty close). Visually the exterior of the hotel is wonderful, from the storefronts to the valet pull-in. Even if you don't get a waterfront view, the rooms offer a great view of the city itself. All the staff we dealt with which were associated with the hotel itself were very nice, courteous, and accommodating. For this level of hotel, the room we had was pleasant looking enough with a not-too crammed furnishing layout and wall density sufficient to keep you from hearing your neighbors, or the occupied bathroom in the room itself. Free Wi-Fi in the lobby was a real plus.
Overall though the hotel is pretty generic and somewhat cold - the lobby is very open, with minimal seating and a lot of echoing stone. The acoustics aren't great - if you need to make a phone call, be prepared for everyone in the lobby to hear every word, no matter how tucked away in a corner and quiet you are. Although the lobby has free Wi-Fi, the rooms don't. They have a wired connection - a connection you have to pay for. WTF. Like many other hotels, "high speed internet" is a euphemism for "slow", and really not worth the $15 it cost a day. We looked in at the restaurant as we were thinking about dinner, and skipped it. We did stop in for breakfast before our drive, which really wasn't worth the highway robbery prices they charged. Beyond sitting in an uncomfortable dining environment, our server was creepy: the "he's talking to himself again", "please don't touch me anymore", and "is he going to flip out?" kind of creepy.
There are plenty of boutique hotels downtown that for the same price offer a much nicer interior environment and over-all experience. Although, this is the first time that I've had my car returned to me by valet - washed. -
Review from M T.
The view was nice and the price was awesome because it was a deal with the New Year's event. The event, however was another story, but this hotel was nice and the staff were helpful and the location of the hotel is really nice too!!! I wanna go back! Canadians are awesome!

We are Marriott people. This was just ok. Good location, basic rooms but nothing special. No wireless in the rooms, not good

very clean & quiet hotel. if youre on a higher floor, you get a great view. concierge lounge is very helpful with checking in early for your flight. it's like maybe a 5 minute walk to robson street.
staff is very professional and courteous. i would definitely stay here again. -
Review from George K.
I've never had a bad experience at the Marriott. I've always been treated well by the reception and they respect my Silver membership and I almost always get a room on the 31st floor. The bar is lively at times and the breakfast and dinners have always been more than palatable. The location is a bit quite, but there is only a 4 block walk to more livelier establishments for imbibing.

Review from Natalie B.
The service and accommodations are just wonderful here! We lucked out and got a higher floor (19 to be exact), which afforded us a harbour view. Really quite spectacular. I'll echo a previous reviewer's comment on the "wonderful curved wall of windows"--stunning! The room itself was clean and comfortable. The location is quiet but just minutes away from bustling Robson Street and a brisk but doable walk to Stanley Park. We had great service and were allowed to check in early! Always a plus.

Review from Tiffany R.
My stay here was marred by subpar service from the front desk staff. Upon check-in, I was told that the only rooms that they had available were with double beds, when I specifically requested a king. They stated that they would put me in a king room the next day, at which time, I had to make about four phone calls to cajole them into doing what they promised to do in the first place. On the other hand, the concierge was very helpful at every turn. The rooms were on the smallish side. The king room had a wonderful curved wall of windows that was really beautiful at night.

Review from Alison W.
Booked this place on Priceline so we got a pretty sweet deal. This might have been the reason the person that checked us in did not offer us any information. She just told us what room we were in, handed us our keys, and pointed us to the elevators. No information on the minibar, pool, gym, restaurant, or business center, which I'm sure they have. The room was very nice - it is a Mariott. Flat screen TV, giant beds, big bathroom, and great view. Well, you can't really see the water since the hotel is located on the south side of the street and all the high rises on the north side of street block the river. Didn't spend too much time in the room as we were out all day and came back to sleep and left super early in the morning. So I'm glad we got such a good deal - it probably wouldn't have been worth the $300+ normal price. We also had a car but didn't park it in the garage as the prices were insane. And they don't have an attendant because you just have to purchase a permit to place on your dash, so if you're lucky you can get away with parking it there for a little while without getting caught. Otherwise you can probably find street parking for overnights, which is what we did. Just make sure you read the signs carefully for no parking hours and when the meters start.
