Review from Mike G.
If you love hockey you have to come out and see the Vancouver Giants play. These kids (under 19) are very skilled and try that much harder as they fight for NHL draft consideration. The hockey is highly entertaining and high paced. This is also a very family friendly environment with a high percentage of kids! The ticket price is also very low so that families can go out and enjoy a sporting event and not break the bank every time you go!

If you're a true fan of hockey, you'll love to watch the Vancouver Giants play in the Pacific Coliseum.
Great seats from anywhere in the house, an energizing atmosphere with dedicated fans, and action-packed hockey for 60 minutes - what more can you ask for?
Great for the family, great for dates and great for anyone learning about or trying to get into hockey. Tickets are affordable as they're priced, but also keep an eye out for the occasional Groupon and Entertainment Book deals.
Fan nights are listed on their schedule where door prizes and special guests (often NHL stars) provide an another great incentive to watch a game.
Definitely check it out!
Who are the Vancouver Giants?
The Vancouver Giants are a team in the WHL (Western Hockey League), a branch of the larger CHL (Canadian Hockey League). There are currently 22 teams in the WHL competing for the Ed Chynoweth Cup. The winning team also advances to play against the top team of the OHL (Ontario Hockey League) and the QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) - the other two branches of the CHL - for the coveted and famous Memorial Cup.
Watching the Vancouver Giants is literally watching the NHL players of tomorrow. Notable alumni include Milan Lucic, Evander Kane, Gilbert Brulé, Cody Franson and Brett Festerling (to name a few) with many current players who have been drafted into the NHL already.
Remember Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of Burnaby? First overall draft pick of the 2011 NHL Draft? Yea. He played (and still plays) for the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL. -

They have a FANBONI! That's right, a modified zamboni used to usher fans around the ice between periods. My dream is to operate a zamboni, failing that just riding the fanboni would be pretty awesome.
I am not a hockey fan whatsoever, one game it took me about 5 minutes to determine which team was vancouver, nevertheless there is something for everyone here.
It's one of the last few places where you can bring the family for some good value entertainment, wether you are in to the game or just there to be part of a crowd and drink beer like me, you can never go home disappointed. -

A - List. Recommended. Can't get tickets to the Canucks? Steep prices keeping you wake at night? Maybe you do not even cheer for the Canucks. Well, get over to the Pacific Coliseum for some of the best hockey action you will find anywhere at the price that is just right for everyone. Parking is $10 bucks and a bit of a walk. Tickets are $25 or less. Lots to eat and drink. Intermissions are fun. Go Giants Go!

I almost want to give these guys five stars. That's not any reflection of how they are as a team or what they offer to the WHL. God knows I can't follow the larger arc of any sport to save my life. But just as something to go out and see, the Giants are fantastic.
Like the Vancouver Canadians, the Giants are one of the few sporting events in the city that is actually a price regular people can afford. I don't know anyone who attends Canucks games that doesn't wheel and deal a bit or win their tickets. It's constantly sold out or high priced so it's great to have an option like the Giants.
On top of that, they're good. I don't think it would be quite as delightful to watch if the Giants were lame but no, they're good. In fact in the few games I've seen, I've never seen a loss.
Add good team, affordable tickets to also, a great stadium. I'd kind of expected a Podunk operation when I went to my first game but, seriously, this is a full stadium. Full concession and good enough seats to compete with some of the NHL arenas I visited as a kid in the 80s. It may not be GM place but you get what you pay for, and by that I mean access to beer and plastic seats.
So yes, if you come to town and find going to see the Canucks a bit prohibitive, do consider the Giants. It's a good night out and you're likely to see another team that can pants their league just as well. -

I try to see six to ten games per year. Such a great value for very good quality hockey. It is great to have that true fan atmosphere, families and kids at a hockey game. You don't see that sort of thing at NHL games any longer, the price too exorbitant for families.
Any seat above row 10 can be considered excellent.
If you like great hockey, love excellent fan atmosphere, and don't want to spend a fortune, then the Vancouver Giants are well worth an evening out.Listed in: Top of the Heap - Other

Great value for any seat in the house. Far more entertaining hockey than you'll ever see at GM Place with the Nux. The kids work hard every shift and Don Hay is a genius they way he's able to replace stars (Brule, Lucic and Kane) as well as the various other interchangeable D-men (Franson, Festerling, Blum, Meszaros, etc.) and still produce a winning team.
The crowd is also far better than Canucks crowd where people seem to be more concerned with texting each other than cheering the team on. Affordable tickets make it great for families = more loud kids there. -

If you put ideas of having to evacuate from the crunched upper bowl seats out of your mind, the Vancouver Giants deliver a great game. The Giants are the 2007 Memorial Cup champions, which means you've got a far better chance of rooting for the winning team than if you head to a Canucks game.
Expect the usual treats at a sports game: beer, popcorn, and yelling fans. An extra fun element to the Giants' games is that you'll often see security removing certain characters from the stands.
Personally, I prefer the fast-paced game of the Giants than the big leagues. The speed of the game is revved up and they regularly fill the Pacific Coliseum. Tickets are a bargain at $16.50 to $18.50. -

WHL hockey action is cheaper, more accessible and a lot of fun. Plus the Vancouver Giants are often at the top of the Western Conference, outplaying teams from Seattle, Spokane, Kelowna and Kamloops (among others).
If you just want to see some hockey and don't really care if you know the names of all the players, you'll get all the same great action at the Pacific Coliseum as you would at GM Place. Except it's a fraction of the price and your seats will be closer to the ice.
The Memorial Cup (the highest prize of junior hockey) went to the Giants in 2007 -- it's always more fun to root for the winning team. The Giants are an especially a nice break if you're a Canucks fan. -

I *love* these boys!
Watch the Giants for high quality, high tempo hockey from a bunch of kids who work their asses off every night. They have a good track record of alumni who make it to the NHL (Milan Lucic, Evander Kane and Andrej Meszaros jump to mind) and for less than the price of three beers at GM Place, you can get a seat right up against the glass.
Oh yeah, and they can actually make it past the second round of the playoffs. Canucks fans know how refreshing that is.
