Should be 3 1/2 stars. The location is great. It's right across the street from the mall and walking distance to lots of restaurants. Right down stairs is a Starbuck. They have a swimming pool, but it's really small. The gym was standard. Had some weights and four treadmills.
The hotel is very clean and nicely decorated. I just didn't like that they charged for parking. With tax, it came out to be $18 a night. I booked the hotel at Priceline. With tax, it came out to be $100.
Check in time is 1600. I showed up at 1100 and they accomodated me. So that was cool.
I would stay here again. -

I stayed one evening in this Marriott - thank goodness it was not a longer stay.
My room was clean, and the bed was comfortable, but the AC did not work very well. It's a central AC system - and the room was very stuffy when I arrived, I cranked the temp down, and it would just not cool off the room. I notified the front desk, they told me they had no one that could look at it as they send all their "engineers" home at 5:00 pm.
So they offered to put me in another room. I took the key - went up and checked the other room - stuffy - and cranked the AC in that room - same poor excuse for a cooling system. So I went back and gave them that key back - there was no reason to move to another room with the same poor excuse for an AC system.
I stayed in two other Marriott properties earlier in the week in upstate Washington State - a Courtyard and Fairfield Inn - allegedly lower end Marriott properties, that boasted much higher performance AC capabilities in their rooms.
If I could have opened a window to cool off the room, I would have. As a result, I slept poorly all night.
I'll never stay here again. -

We stayed here for my cousin's wedding. Hotel room was very spacious and clean. Staff was nice.
But I didn't particular care for paying for parking every night.
Also, my cousin actually had his wedding here. The reception hall was setup beautifully. But the serving staff wasn't particular helpful, it just the whole way to bring food and take food away was not very efficient. Spilled stuff on guest jacket. I expected more well trained staff at a Marriott for hosting wedding. -

2.5 stars.
Maybe it's because I just came back from a JW Marriott, but the difference between the JW and the regular Marriott's is huge!
Went to a holiday party here last night and although I had a nice time, this had nothing to do with the hotel itself. The lobby area is nice and they have a few ballrooms for events like parties and receptions on the second floor - can hold 80-100 comfortably. Bathrooms are nice and clean.
Coat check was fine. Food quality was OK/average. The service at the actual event was poor... the food pretty much ran to the bottom before the staff came by to refill, asking us to reach over to the other side to grab what was left at the buffet. WTH? No one came by for water/wine refills during dinner. During dessert, they asked one person at our table about coffee and since that person said no, they walked off and left me sitting there trying to figure out where to get one afterwards!
And what hotel doesn't carry Pellegrino or another sparking water equivalent???!
If you're wanting to impress with good food and polished service at your event, this isn't the place to go. -

My husband and I stayed here for one night. I got a "deal" on priceline for $80 (plus taxes, $100). We paid for a queen size, non-smoking room and once we arrived they asked if we wanted an upgrade to a king size suite for $10. I thought it was a really good deal, but once I got up to the room, I regret paying the extra $10. Sure, the king size bed is much better than having a queen size bed, but I guess I wasn't impressed.
Service was good. The lady saw that I was holding my daughter and asked if we needed a crib and they brought one up immediately. -

Good for convenience, but the inside of the hotel was quite old and the room was poorly designed. As for convenience, it is right in the middle of the action in Richmond. You can walk to Rd #3 (couple blocks away) and if you want you can walk to the Olympic Speed Skating Oval (10 mins walk away). I love staying in Richmond because there is great food and late night joints very nearby and the cost of lodging is much cheaper than in downtown Vancouver.
The hotel itself is nothing spectacular. The bathroom fixtures are quite old and the room was poorly laid out. There was lots of wasted space in the corners of the room, but the main parts were quite cramped. Also the bathroom was very small. In addition, the shower water pressure was not very good and the hot water did not last very long. You had to keep turning up the hot water to keep the shower at a consistent warm temperature. If you get a good deal or land in this place from Priceline, you will get good value, but I would not look to book a room in this place directly. Two stars.
