I actually enjoyed this Value Village!
We stopped here to see if we could find a few treasures or a few fixer-uppers to fix up on our own. We were very successful! We walked out with a beautiful clay teapot with a matching creamer, a few old records that we are going to turn into something beautiful, a couple books, and an amazing vase. We came out with quite a haul!
I have to say, this is a great Value Village for books. Hard cover books are only $3.99, paperbacks are $1 or $2.99 and if you buy 4 books, you get one free! It's a great deal! They also have a bunch of kids books so if you are looking for some, check it out.
I didn't find any clothes that I would wear - the clothes are pretty dated, just like at all the Value Villages.
I was actually surprised to find that they make up goody bags here! They put together a few things (we found one bag with 3 picture frames in it for $3.99).
They don't really have a great selection of shoes and even less shoes, but they do have some steals if you're on a budget.
We left with more than we went in to find! It's one of the better locations I've been to! -

Value Village is way to expensive.
Like Robin S. said, they're prices are on par with new clothes.
I too, shop at Discount Thrift Store which is located right next door to the west end Value Village.
They also have another location now at 12721-50 street (North) -

I don't know, Value Village has really fallen from grace in recent years, and I can't remember the last time I actually left this location with a purchase in hand.
Actually, it was a few months ago - I found a few super nice vintage aprons. But besides that - nada.
Honestly, Value Village is just not that much of a bargain anymore. Oftentimes clothing prices are on par with what you'd pay new, and every single pair of used shoes I have coveted in the past while have been priced at upwards of $20, which seems ludicrous. It's not as if they have been in perfect shape, either.
I do stop into this Value Village on a regular basis, but always as an afterthought to checking out the superb thrift shop located next door, where more often than not items cost a dollar. I'd recommend Value Village maybe for families looking for gently used items that will save them a few bucks, but would caution vintage collectors that prices on good items are often practically what you'd pay at the antique mall.Listed in: Thrifting The City

Review from Paula K.
Value Village is known for selling good quality used clothing. Just about everything in the store is used, including books, toys, and household items, in addition to clothes. This is one of Edmonton's original locations. I bought some blank t-shirts here for an art project some years ago (I was silk screening t-shirts) and had to wash body odour out of some of them. I was here more recently just looking around and was tempted by a very inexpensive brand name winter vest, but took a closer look and saw it had lint all over the inside of it. The positive thing here is that the prices are very low and this is a way of recycling items that are still usable. However, I would prefer just to buy cheap things new in a department store.
