I love this spot and it was nice to try something new (new for me, anyway) - the King Kong Burger!

This is a HUGE burger filled with 2  1/2 lbs of meat (2 patties) and 4 slices of cheese.  This thing is massive and will definitely satisfy the hunger craving of someone who hasn't had a good meal in a week.  This is very rich and indulgent...make this your one cheat for the week!

Real winner here were the sweet potato fries. Seriously, some of the best sweet potato fries I've had in this damn city. Perfectly fried and seasoned but not oversalted so that you can't taste the actual sweet potato.
I had a few bites of my friends' mushroom bacon burger or whatever it was called.
Was alright. I've had better burgers. It was juicy enough.
Oh umm.. also, Neapolitan milkshakes are 1 part vanilla, 1 part strawberry, 1 part chocolate right? Yeah so uhmmm.. The thing about Neapolitans is that they're traditionally served in layers. You know like, 1 layer of chocolate, 1 layer of strawberry, 1 layer of vanilla.

My Neapolitan milkshake came to me brownish grey. Thanks a lot -_- I guess that's my fault for eating at a hipsterish joint in hipster Valenica.

I love it when would-be vegetarians want to be bad. So last night when my friend derailed a trip to eat veggie Mexican food in order to mow on some tender boeuf, I twisted my mustache, let out an evil laugh, and followed her into Urbun Burger for some non-veggie voodoo.

    The Not-So Skinny
Before you freak out on the price ($7.95 for a plain burger), consider this:
The burger is huge. And I don't mean a bulbous mass akin to one Eddie Murphy's grandmother might roll up, but rather, a generous disc of perfectly ratioed meat-to-bun. I'm guessing 6oz, lip-smacking dab in the middle of 1/3 & 1/2 a pound.

The meat is then cooked to order (my medium rare was right on) and fitted just right to its UrBUN. This is no ordinary bun. No, it's not a massive kaiser roll, just a regular seedless bun, but more of a bakery-style, that's able to stand up to the elixir that seeps down your paw as you work your way around the burger.

Cheese is $1 extra, but I've found it's *gasp* not necessary. When properly cooked & sauced, no cheese is needed.

Best. Sweet. Potato. Fries. Thin & blistered. Get them with a side of chipotle aioli. I believe if you sub-out for the reg. fries or salad, their $1.95 extra.

The salad is also quite good. Fresh romaine, toppings, and a housemade balsamic.

I'm full while I'm writing this, which is the only reason I'm not heading back down there now.

Is this the best burger I've ever had? No. But it's pretty darn good when you're hungry and looking for a quick, cheap dinner in the Mission that is not Mexican. You have lots of options on what kind of burger to get, it can be overwhelming. I got the Mission Heat which comes with green chillies, jalapenos, grilled onions, and jalapeno jack cheese. The aioli it came with wasn't too spicy except when you got a big chunk of jalapeno! Sweet potato fries were pretty good too. I probably didn't need to finish the whole meal since the portions are HUGE. You could probably save half for another time. I would definitely come back.

A restaurant with a name as cute as Urbun Burger really has to be great. luckily, I wasn't disappointed by the great burgers, the service, the quiet, room, the cool music. I usually spend slightly less on this for lunch, but the prices overall are not bad. I would definitely return for dinner, or late at night, for the same menu.

Portions are HUGE, to-go box recommended unless you want to be spilling out of your pants the rest of the day!

Never in my life had i seen a burger the size of my face.  I may be a tiny girl but my forehead has a life of its own, and that's saying a lot. It felt as if I was in a Man vs. Food episode, and when is that ever a bad thing? I wasn't expecting too much from this place, but i was pleasantly surprised.  The burger patty itself was tasty.  Usually pattys need to be soaked in condiments, but not this one.  Only reason why I'm knocking down a star was because I ordered onion rings, not donuts.  They're called onion rings for a reason! They were beer battered alright, but I found the last one to be not one ring but five being cheated into one aka the donut. Talk about too much onion!

I've been to this Valencia spot a few times and love their California sensation burger.  They have several meat/veggie burger options which is great as I don't eat beef, and I always get the turkey burger.  They put a generous amount of avocado and sprouts on it compared to  California burgers at some other places.  They also have sweet potato fries which I love, and for the portions the price is great.

The only issue I've had is that sometimes the a/c is up so much the place is freezing. One time I had to leave even though I had a jacket on and eat it elsewhere...I don't know why it was up so high as it wasn't even warm outside at all!

My burger was good, and the place is cute and cozy.  My problem was with the "texas toast" bun that I got.  Texas toast is a very specific thick, square bread thats grilled in butter on both sides.  What I was served was a piece of plain, dry toast.   Not even close...false advertising much.  It totally ruined the experience.

Oh Urbun, how I miss you so.  Moving to the Sunset has killed my ability to go to you for my late-night, occasionally drunken, burger fix.

I love-love-love their Mission Heat burger, though I still think it should be spicy-er.  Ironically, the chipotle cheese and the bun do a really good job of dulling the pain of the spicy.  The sliders are awesome, as is the Breakfast Burger (as only a heathen would not like a fried egg in their burger)! But what I really love here are the sides.

There's nothing better after a night on the town than plopping down on one of Urban's stools and chowing down on an order of onion rings.  Their beer-battered and fried to this delectable golden crispiness that holds up well to condiment dipping--I personally like them with either Mayonnaise, ranch, or the house sauce. =)

Oh, and fair warning, only order the garlic fries if you love garlic (which I do).  You'll be sweating garlic fumes after consumption--and the only thing that cuts the taste is a light smattering of ranch.

They also have a build your own burger option--personal fan of Turkey Burger + Swiss + Jalepenos + Sundried Tomatoes + Pesto Mayo on a classic bun. :)

Yummy and fairly priced. Half of our group kept moaning about how full they were afterward. There were plenty of options for the vegetarians in our group. The American(/Mission?) Heat and classic meat burgers looked pretty greasy, but the boys enjoyed it. They were really fast with our orders too, so this place is ideal for a quick bite before going out in the Mission.

I think I need to eat here again to get a better feel of the place. Came here this past Saturday, but since parking in the city sucks, decided to get the food to go. Let me tell you this, they are very eco-friendly! They package their togo food securely so it doesn't go everywhere as you're driving!

Really wanted a burger, but since I'm on a diet, decided to get a salad. I honestly did not know anything on the menu but I called in and just asked whether they had this and that and the girl on the phone was really helpful! I got a salad with spinach, cranberries, blue cheese added with grilled chicken topped with raspberry vinagrette. This was delicious! okay sized portions. My bf got a basic cheeseburger with a side of fries. Everything tasted like the usual. The only thing that was different was the bun. It was fluffier and tasted pretty good. Other than that the burger tasted like any other ordinary burger. I've been to burger joints that actually had a distinct flavor, but this didn't! Was it because I got it to-go? So I am missing out on something?

I do want to come back here and actually sit in to get a better experience from urBUN burger.

This place is just OK.  The vibe is nicer than the way the food tastes.  It's fine if you can't get in anywhere else to eat when you're in the Mission.

It's not completely fair to judge a place based on a grilled cheese sandwich, a root beer float, and a side of fries, especially since they do have an extensive burger menu, so I'm willing to come back and try something else, but won't necessarily be rushing back to check it out.

I liked my mission heat burger sans the cheese. Cooked Medium Rare, all the nice juices spilled from the beef patty, soaking the bottom bun. What nice and tasty development.  I scooped everything up.  With my salad, it almost felt healthy.

Love this place and will try the other burgers they offer. Give me burger and a glass of wine and I am set. Paris.. baby.

We tried the Bacon Blue & CA Sensation (as mentioned in many peeps' reviews and quick tips.)  We loved them both.

The Bacon Blue is a ridiculous celebration of Blue Cheese.  It's just a delight.  To accompany this wonder of Blue a golden layer of sauteed onions tops it off.  BUT be prepared the layers of deliciousness lead to a pretty tough to eat situation.

Tip: You get a choice of side salad or fries.  We opted for the salad.  It was a good alternative to fries if you not quite feeling the total calorie boost.

The pumpkin malt.  What a treat!  It's basically a pumpkin pie in drinkable form.  Yummy yummy.

My only hope is that they might cook burgers to order one day.  Maybe they do now, but we weren't asked.

I like the interior space.  The colors & finishes are fun.  It's a little overboard on the hard surfaces, but all in all a cool place to dine.  On the temperature side, it was pretty cold inside on the rainy cold day we tried it.

My favorite burger in SF is Pearls.  If you are in the Mission, then you should give UB a shot.  Very solid food.

A tasty burger! I've passed this place many times but until my roommate told me her friends thought it was a great burger I never thought to try it. Indeed a good burger, and decent value as for the same price at Barneys you get a similar burger but at Urbun it includes a side.

I got the half and half sweet and regular fries, and they were pretty good. Thr burger was perfectly cooked (medium as requested), tasty and fresh. Not much else to say. Would and will return.

    Also, the staff were friendly.

A disappointing trip because Urbun Burger offers so much choice in condiments and toppings. I really wanted a great cheeseburger, and my expectations are a bit higher for any good restaurant in the Mission. The woman at the register was very cool and helpful. Great big board, plenty of menus and late hours - wish these were more prevalent.

The fries were perfect. Were it not for the fries, I'd rate at two stars. Reasonable selection of beer and wine.

Dry burger though. The pro move when eating a burger is holding it over your fries. Like a boss. The burger's juiciness mixes in with the fries. Seriously, just try it next time. Turn your plate and you will enjoy.

Only part of the avocado fell on my fries. Nothing from the patty or bacon, or tabasco mayo, or cheddar. Stunning! Maybe the dryness of the burger was related to the fact that 1-2 couples behind me got their burgers before I did.

A guy booted a bit at his table. Gonna happen when you're open til 3 on Fri & Sat. HUGE props to his friend, a red-haired woman in a blue top; she took responsibility to clean it up. No one heard it; he just bolted from his table and the woman working the register suspected something.

My last experience leaves me wondering if they are a) under new management or b) just have gotten big heads having four stars on Yelp and being a mission eatery.

My boyfriend and I were desiring a burger last weekend and decided to hit up Urbun since it's so close to our abode. I got the burger with frings (half fries have onion rings). I paid 11 bucks for the meal, which isn't awful, but it's definitely a chunk of change (at least to me).

I was pretty hungry, borderline hangry (angry because I'm hungry) until my food came out. Burger was normal, but my frings, not so normal. I literally got 20 french fries. No, seriously. i was so stunned by the small amount of fries that I counted. Twenty. And there were maybe 5 onion rings. I thought of taking a picture, I wish I had.

I was pretty pissed off...I mean I paid 11 bucks for the meal and I only get 20 fries? Of course, my boyfriends meal comes out and he has way more than 20 fries, so maybe it was just a slight on me? Or maybe I'm an American fat-ass who wants more tan 20 fries?

Although, the last time we got take out from there, they were skimpy on the fries portion as well...so I'm hoping this is not a trend.

When I spend 11 dollars at your establishment, I would like more than 20 french fries with my side order, especially if you charge $2 to upgrade.

So I think, after my two skimpy experiences, I will be forging Urbun Burger, which is a shame, because they DO have sweet potato fries and their burgers seem pretty homemade, which is hard to find.

But I'm not going to put my money into your business if you are going to cheat me out of the best part of the meal.

One of my top 5 burgers in the city.
This place specializes in abundance, and is probably the messiest of my favorites in SF.  I had to wash my forearms thoroughly after eating one burger.

The bun was soft, warm, and well toasted, but even that layer of caramelization  could not keep back the pineapple, gooey cheese, and grilled onions on my burger, and a lot of it fell out with a few bites.  so I  had to reconstruct it as I ate, but it was so frickin satisfying and juicy.
The meat was cooked to order, juicy, and flavorful.

Service was fast, attentive, and they are open late for post-bar noshing.

It's in the Mission. Near my hood. I like burgers. I decided to try it.

    MEH.

The have a large selection of burgers to choose from so I was staring at their big menu for a while. I finally settled on the Breakfast Burger because I wanted eggs and it sounded filling. I got Garlic Fries on the side and a Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Shake to complete my Urban burger experience.

Except it wasn't complete. The Breakfast Burger was drier than I expected. I thought the over easy egg would be a little more gooier, instead of hard. Decent burger, nothing special about it, except maybe the large portion.

The Garlic Fries were the worst part. They were just normal fries with "garlic spread" tossed on the side. It seemed as if the cook didn't even toss them with garlic. Most of the fries I picked up looked like regular fries. Not even tossing, not even garlic.

The Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Shake was the best part! Sweet, savory and smooth. Thank god! It's probably because they used Mitchell's Ice Cream to make their milkshakes. Mitchell's Ice Cream is a San Francisco city classic, so you can't go wrong there.

The food was an overall "Meh" experience. However, I did like their interior design. Simple, colorful and clean. They seem to brand themselves as a great burger place online, but I wasn't having it when I went.

I got the bacon bleu burger and it was really juicy, fresh, and the bun was awesome. The cons of this place are the cost and the heavy heavy breading on the onion rings that was too much.

Some friends I came with got the breakfast burger which he really liked (it had a fried egg in it... those burgers are always good). Another got a burger that had pablano peppers and she seemed to really like it too. The strawberry milkshake was average, but for $5 definitely not worth it. They need to drop that price by a couple bucks.

    Yelpers sure like to over-rate.

I got there early, no other customers.  The cashier was busy tidying up.  Gave me a nice hello and that was it.  No, be with you in a minute or any such.  Nor did she stop tidying up.

After a long wait and starting to drum my fingers on the counter she asked if I was ready, I affirmed, she still took her time adjusting a stack of glasses before taking my order.

My medium-rare mushroom swiss burger was well done and dry.  not a hint of pink.

My sweet potato fries were burnt.

It took way to long for me to get my food being as I was the only customer and there were 2 people working.  At least I was treated to a little dinner theater as the cook and the cashier discussed an upcoming date.

Here is a tip for them.  Pay attention to my order, I care more about the food I am being served then your dating lives and who is going to be pissed or not when they find out...

Maybe this place is better when a manager is working or you are drunk.  Either way I'll take a pass on any future trips here.

Walking along Valencia on a beautiful warm sunny day with my bf after drinking a delicious Bloody Mary from Zeitgeist--we soon found ourselves hungry for a burger. After exploring a few stores, my bf asked a random girl where would be a good place to get a burger nearby and she told us to head over to Urban Burger.

    Thank You random girl.

Bf and I both had a classic burger, tho I added Cheddar cheese on mine!
I love how the burger comes out and you can put your burger together. The beef patty was perfectly cooked, still a little pink in the middle, and the fries were yummy too. It kept our stomachs pretty happy and full for the rest of the day!

What is nice also is that they offer a variety of burgers here!

    Yummy burgers! Thumbs up!

    Mission heat burger...mmMmmMmm

Tasted good but when you have alcohol in your system, everything taste better. I'm going to trust my judgment and still give them 4 stars.

Under the influence, I forgot to ask for the burger to be cooked medium but the default Med-Well was still juicy. Wish I was asked how I would like it cooked as a reminder.

Half-half of fries and rings with a fountain drink cost $14 and change.
Kind of expensive....but food was good.

A selection of condiments are available (Idk, I always look for hot sauces :P )

I always stop into Urbun Burger when I schedule a haircut at FSC.

A great burger place that lets you either build your own burger, or you can order one of their Specialty Burgers such as California Sensation (avacado, sprouts, swiss) or Mission Heat (green chilies, grilled onions, jalapeno jack, and jalapeno and chipotle aioli). They serve big portions, so chances are you will not leave hungry.

Also, don't be afraid to bring you friends who are afraid of burgers. You can replace the beef with chicken, veggie burger, turkey burger, or even portabella. They also have salads and other sides that look delicious.

One thing you will definitely need is napkins. Lots and lots of napkins.

I stumbled in here with a few friends a couple of weeks ago, quite late at night, and grateful for their extended weekend hours.  Usually, late-night joints like this leave service as an afterthought, but the cheery young lady at the counter provided us with some of the sweetest late-night service I've ever had, and I've stumbled into many a grease joint after 1 AM.  The food was pretty good, and they have a surprising selection of items & beverages.  I hope to bumble onto this place again, some late night, and hopefully that cheery young lady will help me out again.

The burgers are good here but great...?  That's debatable.  The menu is pretty extensive so you wont feel left out even if you don't eat meat.  They've got beef, chicken, or veggie options and more.  Just make sure you bring your paycheck because this place isn't cheap.

You'll end up spending around $9-10 just for your burger while gourmet topping options are around $1.25 each.  Want fries with that?  You'll be paying for those too.... and you might want a drink to quench your thirst.  Not free.

I would easily give this place 2 stars but the food is good, so I'd just wish they'd lower the prices a bit.

Any place that serves sweet potato fucking fries deserves five stars.

Burger salad wasn't too shabby either.

    Service with a smile.

Stopped by on a whim, looking for some grease to cure a hangover. Beer battered onion rings hit the spot.  I was a new person after devouring those. Unfortunately, my taste buds became a bit more refined after that and I had trouble with my Mushroom and Swiss burger. Really really dry. The bun was good but the meat was pretty tasteless. Had a swig of my friend's Oreo shake and was wishing I had ordered that instead of the burger.

Would still go back for the fried stuff, especially after a night of bar hopping in the Mission.

I ordered the burger that has BBQ sauce on it and onion rings and bacon, this place is really expensive, I think I paid a little over $15 for a burger fries and a drink. I found the garlic fries to have a little too much garlic on them. They are very eco-friendly and use recyclable bags and have a compost bin for the food when you throw it out.

What? I can see how this stuff would be good drunk munchie food but otherwise, pass.

Ordered the original with cheese - medium rare and it came out well past well done. Six dollar burger from Carl's Jr. came to mind and really that's the best comparison I can give. Patty packed too tight, overworked, and underseasoned. At least the toppings are fresh, but if you're looking to drop $10+ for a good burger this is not the place.

I'm not entirely sure why this place has a four star rating.

Stopped in Saturday night after watching Top Gun in Dolores Park (awesome!), hoping for an solid burger and some fries. No joy.

The burger was poorly put together; avocado on maybe half of it... just kind of piled in the middle. The burger itself was way under cooked. It was pinkish on the edges and nearly raw in the center. When I got to that I decided to call it quits and just eat the fries. Nobody wants to wake up at 3:30 in the morning needing to shit their brains out.

So I set in on the fries. Dry, flavorless and had that kind of quality that fries get when they've been sitting out for far too long under a heat lamp.

All in all, at least I was able to eat some of what I ordered, but I have no intention of returning. Maybe the B squad was on duty, but you'd think that in the Mission on a Saturday night, a burger joint might want to up the quality control a little bit.
