Asking a Chinese person to live without seafood is like asking one of us to eat, shop and play without Yelp.

    It's
    Just
    Wrong

After all my fishing, I've finally found a seafood market in Burnaby. And surprise, surprise, it's owned by Chinese people (woot woot!). Fortunately for me, their local shop offers a small variety of fresh salmon, shell fish, shrimp and some frozen seafood as well. Unfortunately for them, they are soooooooo subject to conversation with me so I can practice my crappy banana Cantonese (mwahaha *smirk*).

With Urban Seafood for crustaceans, Red Apple Market for fresh produce and Chinese groceries, Cioffi's for meat and Italian goods and Old Admiral Pub for happiness (i.e. liquor), I can do all my grocery shopping on this one block - how brilliant :D

I like this place. It's conveniently located nearby a wonderful Italian butcher that ages their own meats. Thus when I shop for my dinner parties, I can grab all my proteins in one block. When mussels are in season, I would go there and buy a few pounds and try their other fresh and frozen items. They have good customer service and for the most part, Urban's price is similar to your larger (T&T Supermarket) prices plus the quality is slightly better than the bigger chains. So if you're in the neighborhood and looking for spotted prawns, mussels, claims, and any other popular seafood items, Urban seafood is worth a try. Furthermore, you will be supporting the mom and pop stores. If you're looking for weird stuff then you wont get it here. Weird stuff such as Blow Fish, sea cucumber, beef, pork, or chicken.
