Like some of the shops on Spring Garden, Urban Retreat is housed inside a converted heritage-style home. Narrow stairways, smaller rooms, and creaky floors come along with the older building. However, that's not to say that the old quirks drag the business down. The staff and owners still manage to create an atmosphere of peace and quiet in preparation for your treatment.
My draw to massage therapy places is the range of services that they offer. Some places only offer therapeutic massages. However, there are times when I don't want my already-sore muscles to feel like they're being pressed into oblivion with a hot poker. I mean, I know that after the pain and bruising I'll feel a lot better, but there are times when I'd prefer to actually feel relaxed during the massage. Luckily for me, Urban Retreat offers some relaxing techniques, such as Hot Stone. They also have something that I haven't seen in other places, called Thermal Palms, that I am interested in trying.
If you work or live downtown Halifax and you don't mind the occasional floor creak amongst the sounds of ocean waves and gentle waterfalls, then this is a good spot to try.Listed in: Kinky
