I've been to Urban Retreat a few times now, and I love it. The staff are always so professional, and they really care about making each customers' experience a relaxing one. They offer topnotch services: their pedicures, massages, and facials are all so luxurious! This is definitely the place to come if you want a pampering and indulgent experience. Luxury doesn't come cheap though; this is one of the more expensive spas in the city, but the services are worth it. They also sell a wide variety of product lines, including: Dermalogica, Image Skincare, Jane Iredale, Gehwol, Rocky Mountain, Footlogic, just to name a few. And they also carry a lovely selection of locally made jewellery too... it's definitely a spa to check out!

I've been to Urban Retreat a couple times now, and have been impressed with the service. The estheticians are friendly and professional, and the facilities are very clean, modern, and comfortable. Their facials are top-notch, and they will help you establish the best at-home skin care regimen. It's also a refreshing change that they don't try to "push" you to buy  products you don't need.
Their prices match the quality of services you will receive... it's not the cheapest spa in town, but it's definitely worth it to pamper yourself here.

I like this place. I like Sandra as my RMT. The spa services are a little bit pricey but its nice inside. Great place to go with a friend or your mom. And great place to give gift certificates to.

My husband gave me a gift certifcate and I booked a pedicure.  The front desk staff greeted me and I waited a few min. before my esthetician came out.  I was seated in a large comfortable chair and she offered me a drink and magazines.  I was glad there wasn't anyone else getting a pedicure but there was a lady getting a manicure.  I like when it's a little quieter and I enjoy having a conversation with my esthetician.  I picked up 2 colours which she combined to create a vibrant colour for my toes.  I was impressed with the time she took and the level of service.  She had another client after so I was seated in the drying area and she told me what to do.  There were granola bars and drinks available to me.  I showed myself out and was happy with my feet.  The colour lasted longer than I expected.  It's not the cheapest place but every woman deserves a pampering once in a while and I would go back for another pedicure.

I revisited Urban Retreat a couple of weeks ago after receiving a telephone call from its owner. She had read my mixed review of her establishment's services on Yelp, and wanted to invite me back for another try.

I was impressed, not only by the professionalism of her call, but by how much she values each customer's feedback. She was not looking to sway me by offering up freebies. In fact, she was well aware that she could receive another lackluster review, but was confident my negative experience of the past was the exception, not the rule.

I wasn't too crazy about the idea of laying myself out for another wax job with the same girl who'd made me whimper like a snoodle dying a slow, painful death, but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, and besides, spring was returning in all her glory below the 69th parallel.

This second time around, my wax girl - who was unaware that I was back to do a review (that was the agreement) - did a good, thorough job. It was clean and relatively fast, and she chatted amicably throughout the procedure, manoeuvring legs, wielding her waxing instruments, dipping, coating and ripping in true saddist's symphony devoted to bare-skinned beauty. Come on, we all know it's going to hurt a little; but the results made the nail-digging and palm sweating worth it. Then I was swathed in lovely oils to subdue the redness and remove any stickiness, and was bikini ready.

Afterwards, I had a facial with the same girl, and was literally lulled by her soothing touch into a state of unconscious bliss, making my wax session fade into a distant memory with perfect French lines. I was steamed and coated in gorgeous creams, massaged and exfoliated, masqued and extracted, until my skin was soft and radiant. My facial goddess made my transition back to reality most peaceful and unrushed.  If you're looking for a top-notch spa facial, Urban Retreat is a no. 1 choice. I've had wax jobs faster than this one, but you're not getting the Zen spa surroundings and impeccable sanitation and professionalism of places like Urban Retreat, so it's a bit of a trade-off.

I frequent Urban Retreat and the staff (high retention btw) are always attentitive, friendly and accommodating.  The ambiance is impeccably clean and with the recent renos, classy & trendy.  There is a 'community' feel to this location as the people who utilize the spa, support their own community.  Which means often I recognize those who are sharing the mani/pedi stations with me and can easily have a conversation or open a magazine and not feel I have to converse at all.  The owner remembers her guest's names and is always sure to say hello and welcome you back.  I've not had massages, facials or any other body treatments only pedi's and eyebrow waxing, so I cannot comment on these treatments.  I've had great pedicures though!
