Oh, come on. What do you expect from this place? It's freaking Urban Planet.
It can be put on the same scale as Stitches or Sirens or any of those other S places. Cheap knockoffs. Really cheap. Crazy cheap. So cheap that you can guarantee it is from a sweatshop, and that it definitely won't be a classic item that you can keep in your closet for years.
But there was a time when I had a "real" job for a short while and needed some sort of nice shoe but was too broke to spend a fortune. Ergo, I decided to buy some black pointy-toed flats from Urban Planet for $10. And they have still lasted me to this day, after daily use for several months. So, HA! Urban Planet stuff can last, it just depends what it is. I also bought some super stretchy skinny denim with no labels on it (Yes! No "Seduction" sequined across the butt!) for $20. And a pair of plain black pants for $15. And they've all stood the test of time.
On a serious note, this place is hilarious to take a walk through just to see what their designers have decided to rip off. There's a "sale" section on the top floor with all sorts of crap that no one wanted for even cheaper.
But as my purchases illustrate, even someone as stylish as moi (NOT) can find something at Urban Planet and make it work. I wouldn't fill my closet with their stuff, but sometimes you can find a deal and no one needs to know where you got it from. -

I walked past the FORMER location of Urban Planet today and cannot tell you how happy I was to see it being empied of all it's crappy contents. Sorry to anyone who ever shopped here, your $1, one-wear pants, shirts and shoes will be gone forever. Or, at least until a new crap chain opens up. I'm hoping for a grocery store to go into Caban's old location. This Urban Planet location was always too good for the stuff they called fashion. Seriously! They didn't even remove Caban's kitchen demo area. They just put a piece of ply-wood and a pile of $19.99 shoes on top.
The sight of an empty store is beautiful to see, for once. -

If you like your sweaters to unravel after one trip through the spin cycle, then hurry, go to Urban Planet, where making you look good for one day is their specialty!
Yay!
I suppose for clothing that runs as low as $5, you shouldn't expect anything more. Of course, you will, because you'll convince yourself that you just got a deal and that you didn't just buy something that was made with 50% disgruntled worker and 50% low-grade materials. No, of course you didn't.
I come so close to wanting to buy things here, almost on a daily basis. The coats are womanly and cool, the sweaters look warm and bulky, and the shirts are long enough so I don't expose my belly every time I yawn. But then after a few in-store strokes of the material, I smarten up, nod to the ever-present security guard, and leave for the next store.
By the way, security guard? Who the heck is stealing $5 tights? -

Holy, what a terrible store! There's so much tackiness packed in this two floor store with some nice items scattered about. I picked up some of these seemingly nice items since they looked all right on the hanger. When I tried them on, it was a different story. Most of the fabric is polyester and spandex that turns out to be see through and a terrible fit. You hope when you walk out of the changing room to look in the mirror, you'll look as good as you imagined, but then surprise, you're wearing something just as tacky as all the other bright coloured skanky or frumpy frocks found within the store.
The quality of the clothing is very bad and most of the items are already showing a stray thread or two. The prices are very low, but still not worth the clothing you'll end up with that will most likely just sit in your closet after being worn once or twice.
Resist frugal temptation and shop around for better clothing! -

I like to think of this place as the Old Navy of Urban Outfitters. I'm a sucker for cheap clothing, so I couldn't resist but to venture inside to take a peek. Expect trendy pieces for a low cost. The trade off is that the quality isn't too great.

eww urban planet.
once, my friend asked me where i got my stuff from and thought i said urban planet. she looked confused and in response said, "uhh... which planet do they think that stuff is urban?" she misheard me.
but nonetheless, somebody somewhere must think the stuff sold here is somewhat cool. they are doing business here and at it's counterparts in all the suburban malls in ontario. beats me.
me? i'd rather wear an old tee and jeans till holey and stained before i bought even a $5 item from here. that'd at least keep me covered. whereas, as connie said in her review, anything from urban planet would just unravel... (not to mention appear cheap, not just inexpensive).
