I'm not a hipster nor a fan of impotency-inducing skinny jeans BUT I do love all other hipster clothes. I know real hipsters probably hate people like me because I'm conformist for shopping at Urban Outfitters but whole discussion is just hypocritical in and of itself.
Philosophical discussion aside, I really do love to shop at UO. While their merchandise may be a tad bit overpriced, there are some really great sales at the end of every season when they try to get rid of their overstocked items. A lot of the other reviews here on Yelp all seem to indicate that the staff is rude but I've never really noticed. EVERY single time I've walked in, there would always be a genial sales person greeting you; and it's not as if they don't do their jobs; I think they're just not over aggresive like most sales people and that's totally cool because I don't like being bothered when shopping. -

There was a time not too long ago when I was still in a small prairie town, still on a form of internet that wasn't much faster than dial-up, first credit card in hand, staying up until the wee hours of the morning, scrolling through pages upon pages of my then most recent discovery: UrbanOutfitters dot com. Imagine the thrill I had when I moved to Montreal only to find the real deal store -- the clothes, I could try them on; the furniture, I could sit on it; the shoes, ohlawwd, the shoes!
Fast forward X number of years, and I find myself here, in Vancouver, with a watered down version of what Urban Outfitters used to be. Maybe I'm getting older, or maybe this particular location is just lacking in some of the better things that the monster retailer usually stocks, but this store is just kind of sad. The staff are all (save for a few *really* sweet exceptions) far too apathetic, and the merchandise is ridiculously priced -- especially for a cheap knock-off. And where's the furniture? The bathroom accessories? The blankets and pillows? Not here.
But owl jewelry? Here.
To be fair, I still shop here... begrudgingly -- but only in the sale section, and only on a whim. The lineups, the variations on bland merchandise, and the $70 teeshirts that are really only worth $10, are enough to make me usually avoid. And this is coming from a girl who will gladly put down a few hun on one article of clothing -- but only if it's worth it. Urban Outfitters, however, is not.Listed in: The Granville Ghetto

Urban Outfitters used to be fun and affordable, now it is a garment Battan Death March, with ironic glasses and over priced crappy graphic tee shirts.
Since when did working in this place come with the job requirement of being a snobby hipster douche? Hey you are working in retail! I know, I know you are paying your way through art school, or are in a band I never heard of because I do not ride a fixie or read pitch fork.
Beyond that the staff is useless, and slow. I could fly to Burma where half the stuff is made, have a drink, traffic some humans and come back by the time I can get to the register. Oh and while I am on a rant, $32.00 for tee shirt? WTF? How do hipsters afford this if they are working here or making my coffee on Main Street? I guess it is still ok if you are looking for a gag gift or a plastic lomo camera.
This is a perfect story a retail losing it's way, and I lost my way right out the door. -

I'm happy to have an Urban Outfitters in Vancouver, and sometimes I will find a hidden treasure, but realistically, it doesn't even compare to the American stores. I can't help but feel that it is wildly overpriced here, too. It isn't really the best quality, but the items are pricy. Some of the styles are fun, and their random knick knacks are quirky, but I would say that there are better deals to be found. However, Zerlene is a great associate; she's friendly and helpful.

Coming from Toronto and checking out Montreal's Urban OUTFITTERS
Vancouver Is Disappointing...... Why ? The Selection is crap
The sales sections is alright sometimes
and the employees are the worst I have seen at any urban outfitters not all but some are just full of themselves I guess dressing like a hipster which I am not insulting hipsters give you the right to not do your job. Also, "If your a true hipster ? wouldn't you not work here because aren't you conforming ?" but hey we all need to make a living right at least do your job to the best of your ability and don't ignore customers who are asking for assistance -

I wouldn't normally venture into these parts, but I was on the hunt for a silly gift under $20. Since Spencer's gifts and San Francisco stores have pretty much ceased to exist, this was all I had to work with. The store is a cluster of hipster duds, and ugly Xmas sweaters that are obviously so ironic and hilarious that they can sell them for like $100. Yikes. Guess the joke's on you when you see the price tag?
They had everything from keychains, cel phone cases, to retro cameras, you know the kind that take real film that you have to wait an eternity to develop only to discover your photos are not centered and you have your eyes closed in half of them?
However, there were a few redeeming factors. I found a Charlie Brown Xmas tree.
Yes!
A real Charlie Brown tree, it was a twig-like tree that stands on a wooden X with one single red bulb that dangles from it. $24 dollars later, I started looking for my silly gift for the gift exchange.... I gotta say a lot of the trinkets seemed grossly overpriced. $14 for a keychain of the leg lamp from an Xmas Story? Sure it had a button on it that when pressed said "Rag-il-e, must be Italian" but come on, its not even a tree ornament, its a fucking keychain that is so oversized you are probably going to end up hanging it on the tree anyways. I also bought a set of straws that came with clip on moustaches. You know the ones, since moustaches are so cool right now, with everyone having grown one for Movember, and now growing it out for Decembeard, again $14.... how is a girl to decide which gift is sillier? I ended up getting both and blowing the $20 budget.
Standing in the lineup to pay that was six people deep was also unnerving. Each cashier slowly ringing through each customer's transaction with a blank look of distate like an artist yearning to be discovered. Urban Outfitters, you win this time, but I won't be back anytime soon. -

When I was young I went to New York and was blown away by Urban Outfitters. Now when I go in here in Vancouver and eh, I'm pretty sure back then I was jet lagged and the store seemed far neater. Maybe that or I was confused by Williamsburg hipsters and now that they're in Vancouver I'm less impressed.
I don't hate Urban Outfitters, hence the four star review, what I will say is unfortunate is the price and quality. The quality of a lot of their clothing is pretty pathetic and thus the price to quality ratio is very low. I like their house hold items and they have great sales but... I won't pay full price for everything there.
What they really do have is amazing household and gifty things. From record frames to little Christmas Urban Outfitters has great trinkets. -

My very first time shopping at this store after the countless times I walk in there and there is never my size left.
I managed to find a white boyfriend-esque blazer, a cute bold patterned scarf perfect for the fall, and a super delicate knit top that may have costed me an arm at Aritzia.
The only one downside to this place is product knowledge for some of the staff.
I inquired about 2 items and one item was passed off to 3 people and it was 25 minutes later of me hunting them down. The other girl that was searching for the blazer was wonderful and found it within 5-10 minutes as I busied myself trying on a few things in front of the mirror.
I wish some of their stuff was not as expensive as they are, since most of the qualities do compare to those at H&M..
All in all, unique store for cute & nifty gift items or cute outfits.
Major gogogogo! Just make sure you have the time to try and dig for your own sizes. :) -

Oh my, I thought the Urban Outfitters in Montreal on Rue St Catherine was bad.... until I came here.
The WORST selection of stuff, and not even the good stuff from the catalog. I am not sure if people aren't hip enough in Vancouver or what the deal is but I found one thing in the entire store I liked. And when I flew home I went to Urban and found a million things I like so I think this specific location gets the shit end of what's new in the catalog.
The sale section is terrible and super small, they have NOTHING GOOD, and everything was an XL or an XS. No shoes!! NO APT STUFF? NO DUNNYS? Good lord, get me out of here and back to an Urban that has decent merchandise.
Clearly if you like this store you need to order online for their stuff if you live in Vancouver because if you go to the store you are going to end up making purchases you will regret. -

This joint is too mainstream to be hip - plus, anyone who pays more than $30 for Levis is an idiot. The staff here are generally useless cigarette munching PBR drinking poseurs who are too interested in the next Strokes' album or what Pitchfork gave Kanye West's new album than the price of the faux mustache you are hoping to purchase to be ironic.
Shopping at The Bay gets you more street cred than this. However, their website is actually pretty darn good - I've gotten some awesome deals off there. -

The accessories are cute, but I think Urban Outfitters' and my ideas of "medium" clothing vary wildly. Which is too bad because they do have some cute clothes at not entirely horrible prices. I'd just have to remove a rib to get into a sundress is all.
The novelties nook up the stairs has a few cool things, like the Darth Vader alarm clock. Most of the books are of the "blogger got a book deal" variety - fun to look at, but eh. Looking at the UO website, it does seem like Vancouver's getting the shaft on selection, as some other reviewers mentioned.
Yes, and the store is by and for hipsters. Three cashiers to two people in line = let's take our sweet time. It is all about style over substance - I was happy with the cute wallet I found, until I got home and actually tried to put my cards, cash, change, etc. into it. It would barely close (and I am not a rich girl!).
Despite all its flaws, I like UO; I just don't think its for me, dammit. -

One of my favourite places to shop at. Seriously, if you're a patient shopper and is able to look through racks and racks of clothes, then this is the store for you. I first discovered this store in Seattle downtown, where I spent two whole hours in their basement clearance section. It was that good. So when the Vancouver one opened up, I had high hopes. It was a little disappointing that they didn't have a whole floor devoted to sales, but I accepted the truth and made the best out of the store.
They have both a men's and women's section here, with the women's occupying the larger space on the lower floor. For the ladies-they have the basic tees, thermals...and then they have dresses and more dresses, cute skirts, caridgans, sweaters, jeans, blazers, coats, leather jackets- essentially everything, but all within one shop.
You will really need to pick out their clothes though. Their prices can be a little on the high side for the quality of clothing. They also have collaborations with designers.Lark & Wolff by Steven Alan, Mirror/Dash, Lyell, Charlotte Ronson, Geren Ford. I love these!!!
I also love their Urban Renewal line, in which they take old clothes, reconstruct and redesign them, and make it into a new item. Each piece is unique, because it's from a different piece of clothing each time.
For men, they carry many different brands as well, and a wide selection, with shirts, tees, cardigans, jeans and coats/jackets. They carry Fred Perry, but that always sells out quickly.
They also have cool shoes. For the women-heels, booties, cool sneaks. For the men, more stylish shoes-Vans in all colors, Nikes, Sperry, and all sorts of other shoes.
Jewlery is also available here; although not a large selection, they do have unique styles. I once got this cool mulitlayered necklace here.
Looking for a gift? Try this place out. They really have the coolest books on everything, Lomo cameras, Polaroid film, unique board games, slippers, socks, keychains, wallets, hats...I even found a Hello Kitty Xmas ornament here one year!!
This is just my kind of store-random things scattered all over. The stock changes frequently (which also means things go on sale quickly). I like to linger in the store, and often come upon a piece of clothing that I will absolutely have. What makes it better, is that it's 50% off!! -

Whenever I shop at Urban Outfitters I am struck by the notion that I'm seeking a bargain in a second hand store. I say this by way of the eclectic selection. The two story store is located downtown on Granville, and is always busy.
The clothing is hit or miss, hence the feeling of bargain shopping. I've found some great gems here. I didn't buy them. My issue is that if there is something nice at Urban Outfitters, everyone will have it. There is simply no originality in shopping here, it's too wide spread.
The prices are average, at times steep given the poor quality of merchandise. Despite this, facsimiles of UO mannequins still walk about town, acting as if they actually have style. It's worthwhile for the occasional accessory, but as a clothing store, pass. -

A hipsters paradise...skinny jeans, plaid shirts, funky hats...1980's neon colored everything...this place clothes nearly all of Main street I swear...
I do like a lot of the fashion here..pretty currant but still not too main stream..but for the quality I think they charge a bit too much...what I really loved about Urban Outfitters were there awesome home accessories but this location seemed to slowly weed them out...I have to head to Seattle now for my Owl cookies jars and flocked pillow cases...*sigh
Service..hmmmm...not a word I think that is know to the crew at Urban Outfitters..not sure who is running the show but they seriously need their staff to work on their people skills..everyone looks pissed off..and hungry...maybe they're pissed they can't eat so that they fit onto all those skinny pants??Listed in: Just Skip It

Why all the hipster hate...
The sizing is a little off, I bought a small t-shirt and it feels like too small now. I would give this place four stars, if some of the clothing was sorted better. I prefer to get my clothes shopping over as quickly as possible. -

Dope-show and wonder-full! I hate to sound like a hipster here, but I really do love almost everything in this store. Bottom to top it carries some of the raddest gift ideas known to this side of Commercial Drive.. I will strongly suggest this store for any sort of random gift idea: books, bandaids with cool tins, headphones and cameras from a different era, clothes I can't afford yet would buy for a friend's birthday, and a whole lot of random stuff I could browse through for hours... honestly a good place to waste some time, if not money...

Despite it having opened nearly two years ago, I didn't realize there was an Urban Outfitters in Vancouver until last week.
Maybe it was due to the fact that it was an early afternoon weekday, but it was completely empty. Where were all the annoying hipsters and tragically trendy pre-teens? Other than the staff, there were maybe five people in total? Okay, maybe six. All the same, considering that the number of people on staff outweighed the actual number of customers, you'd think it would be easy to find someone to help you. After five minutes of aimless wandering in the men's section, I finally found someone to help me! Oh, but alas. He was responsible for outfitting the mannequins so he was obviously too busy with the inanimate to bother himself with an actual person. Thankfully, he pointed me in the direction of someone else who nodded his head ambiguously in the direction of where I need to go.
All in all, a wonderful experience. -

Pottery barn for hipsters. I did find a great camera here for $250 (then bought on ebay for $160 less)

Oh, how cute- an old retro t-shirt. How much do you think it is? Try $50.
A nice ripped, I mean distressed, pair of jeans. How much do you think this is? Try $120.
How about some bright colored shoes in a funky shape? Do you love them as much as $85?
Are these prices making you flinch? Perhaps not, if you just changed your Euros into CA dollars- but is this shopping for the average person? How do all these 'tweens' afford it?
The only reason I step foot in this store is for the clearance, which they have cleverly hidden in the corner upstairs. I've gotten a few shirts here for $10. Not the best deal I've ever gotten- but a good deal, none the less.
Don't get me wrong, the products are cute.. It's just all the eye-rolling at the prices gives me a headache! -

I would say the majority of my recent ensembles consisted of a piece from here. With that being said, the 5 stars are actually for the sale section. The new stock can be pricey, but the sale section on the second floor is like a tickle trunk of fun finds, if you have the patience. Usually I'm not one to rifle through mounds of clothes (winner's especially ugh) but this place almost always has one associate who is there painstakingly organizing and hanging stuff up. I found the cutest highwaisted bubble skirt for $30. Also, I love the laid back atmosphere, quirky random gifts and books (hamburger phone anyone? retro smurf figurines for you 80s kids?). Their makeup and jewellery are pretty sweet too.

When I lived in London I used to love Urban Outfitters and found a lot of awesome clothes there. This store and the North American version in general is just not nearly as good. The selection for guys is relatively tiny and stocks way too many faux vintage tshirts. The UK version slides in boutique designer amongst hipster vintage which is nowhere to be seen here.

This chain store is a groovy gal's and hipster boy's playground. Many of the designs are in-house designed but they carry a big selection of Dolce and VIta shos and Frey boots. The company is really young and was apparently started by a 26 year old who loved to shop. The two-level store offers a mish-mash of styles from furniture to clothes and accessories.
