I was so very pleased to have received a gift card for Urban Oasis as when residing in Winnipeg previously, had always wanted to go but just never got around to it.

I was a little taken aback by having to pay before having the services rendered, giving a tip before I determined if the services were worthy, but hey, I was in the mood for some serious relaxation and just went with it.

I was a little abandoned when I went in to change and prep for heading to the mineral spa, but a lovely woman who was passing by with a try full of goodies snagged me and led me off to the spa area.

I was happy with the surroundings and immediately relaxed into the hot tub, biding my time before heading into the mineral pool itself. Being a water baby, I instantly come alive when presented with an opportunity to spend an hour or so in a body of water of any sort, so this was like a candy store for me.

I would also have liked a little back ground information on what makes the mineral pool so special. What the benefits might be, and found the same for the wrap I booked. Although the spa tech who performed by wrap was attentive and discreet, I really would have liked some further information about the treatment I was receiving.

Upon leaving, others who had had treatments that day were presented with a basket of the products that were used during their service, shown what they were and were asked if they'd be interested in purchasing anything. I didn't have a little box and felt a little left out of the whole process. I would have liked to have seen the products and what the ingredients were to make an informed purchasing decision but alas, this did not come to pass and I didn't spend any more money. Good for me, potentially not so good for spa business.

I would however return to the mineral pool as I found it such a relaxing experience, truly an Oasis in the middle of winter in one of the coldest cities on the planet. I will also consider a mineral pool pass as a gift for those who I think might appreciate the same.

All in all, a great way to spend a day!

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, since last year, and I finally made it back to Winnipeg and made an appointment.
I wish the website showed more pics of the interior, because I purely went by the cute pictures on the website. I wasn't disappointed tho.

The spa is located in the basement of the Clarion hotel. It has free parking in the small parkade beside the hotel. The elevators smelt funny.

I got a wrap, and arrive half hour before to enjoy their mineral spa which is free with a treatment. SO here's my rundown of the place.

    THE FACILITIES
    - a great space, but felt a little industrial. Doors to the back where the laundry was, was open and I don't think I needed to see it
    - there was always someone constantly cleaning, which is good, but i didn't like seeing it all the time
    - the locker rooms were narrow and if there was one or two people there, it gets a little too cozy and I waited
    - the place didn't really emphasize the relaxation that I hoped. it was quite busy, and lots of talking and it was loud.
    - the rooms were nice and private. I didn't hear a single peep from the outside
    - lots of amentities and free snacks and teas. the lounge area wasn't comfortable however

    THE STAFF
    - super friendly and helpful
    - booking my appointment was hard. the only availability was two weeks in advance

    THE MINERAL SPA
    - this overally advertised mineral spa was nice, but nothing special.
    - if there really was essential minerals in there, I would have loved it to be explained
    - bring your bathing suit to hangout in the hot tub

    THE WRAP
    - i've neve rhad a wrap before, but it was good.
    - she slathered the stuff on me, then wrapped me in plastic, sheet and blanket
    - i got a mini facial and a heavenly scalp massage
    - after taking off the mask with hot towels, i got a mini light massage with moistiurzing cream.
    - i wish i had known that i wasn't to shower for 12 hours
    - I had Nastasha, she had an awesomely strong touch, if I could get a massage with her, I would!

Overall, it was okay, but i wouldn't come here for realxation, but rather a nice place to get your services done. There are nice perks while you wait for the next one. I think it would be a nice place for couples or girl groups. They had tons of pedicure and mani stations.
