I found myself in this cute little shop after a friend recommended I check the place out for my hard-to-shop-for sister-in-law.  After explaining that I had no idea what I was looking for the owner spent half an hour explaining all the different products to me and filling me in on how many balls my SIL would need for different projects.  She also helped me pick out a great pair of bamboo needles that went over especially well when my SIL opened her gift.

The one downside to this shop is the price.  As this is the only speciality knitting shop I've been in, I don't know if the prices are competitive or actually overpriced but I was surprised at how expensive most of the wool was ($13-$22/ball).

If you are knitter with discerning tastes or shopping for a pro, I'd recommend checking this place out.

I checked out this store to ask for some advice about what I would need to start knitting.  I had read a couple books (Knitting for Dummies needed to be dumbed down for this girl) and had watched a couple friends and I felt I was ready to tackle the knitting world.

I asked the owner what were some good needles to start with.  She pointed me towards some bamboo needles and said that whatever appealed me is what I should practice on.  Being a girl with 5 star taste and a two star budget, of course I was drawn to the most expensive marino wool I could find.  I decided that if I was going to learn, I might as well learn in style, so I treated myself to a very gorgeous maroon and cream died yarn.

The store is small and the selection is alright.  I asked if she offered lessons at all and the owner referred me to her youtube videos.  I thought I would check them out but I found they were a bit fast and not overly helpful for this absolute beginner!  I will check this place out in the future though for a quick yarn fix, now that I know what I am doing!

This cute little yarn shop is hidden just off of Whyte. They stock a number of my favourite yarns (mmm malabrigo) and accessories, and the woman who runs it is fairly helpful if you have questions.

I've been here a few times (parking around Whyte is tricky so I try to avoid that if I can). The owner has been friendly and helpful. Not a large stock, but enough to get a quick yarn fix.

She also carries the Namaste bags. I went in checked them out, but decided that the colour she had in stock of the one I wanted didn't go well with the rest of my wardrobe (which is important since I want to use it everyday). She was wonderful enough to take my name down, the bag name and colour I wanted and ordered it in for me, for no additional cost. Plus, her pricing on the bags was actually really competitive (even compared to buying online, at least where I looked).
