When I was on the hunt for a sofa I knew what I wanted. At least, I thought I did.
See what I thought I wanted was a beautiful, Italian leather sectional from Kasala in Seattle in white. After a bit of investigation I learned my costs for the sofa, delivery and duty would bring me up to the $5000 range. Once I got that bee out of my bonnet I attempted to find an equivalent object of desire on this side of the border. I actually located the same sofa at a store in Gastown for a couple grand more. No thanks.
My search ensued, and I even came dangerously close to buying one at Ikea. That is until I saw several of the poor things in the Ikea graveyard with torn seams for discounted prices.
I finally laid my eyes on an exquisite, brown leather sectional at Urban Barn. The price tag? $2000! The delivery? Free! The service? Exceptional!
I've now been sitting, lounging, napping on said sofa for about 4 years. Not continuously of course. It is so very classic and I know it will last for years to come. To think I almost spent the same amount of money at Ikea. Not that Ikea doesn't have it's place, but this isn't it.
Urban Barn was also the source of my lovely, dark wood coffee table and my memory foam mattress at 50% off. I do love their vanilla candles too. You don't even have to light them and they create a lovely aroma. To top it all off they are a BC based Canadian company.
