Urban Barn carries items that have a fine balance between form and function. Not too purpose-driven or gaudy, or what-is-this-for? weird either. Furnitures are mostly aimed at younger people who live in condos/apartments. They won't look cluttered in a confined environment. Prices are where they should be.

I can't comment on service or delivery as I did not make a purchase, but I liked this store. IMHO I would not compare it to Pottery Barn as its stuff is more interesting and better designed. It offers primarily contemporary design with some transitional pieces as well (Bombay, I don't think so, their stuff is repro Regency for the most part).
This would be a good place for someone to buy their first set of "real" furniture and accessories, after throwing away the now-pockmarked things from Ikea. It is the kind of styling that won't disappoint in the home. The furniture is more conservative in design (not in the sense of period styling, but in the sense of being dow-to-earth) but has some interesting elements, but the accessories are more lively and experimental.
As I am new to Toronto (two months) and lived in the US till last year, I did not realize this was a chain. Being in the West Queen West area with so many other home stores, I thought it was just another offering. In any case, I should mention that the sales staff were very pleasant, upbeat and helpful. -

This is a pleasant Urban Barn to visit!
Excellent service, a bit quieter so you have room to think and decorate your pad in your head (hate when it's so noisy and crowded that I can't even focus on what colour my shower curtain is!).
I also noticed there were a lot of great sale items when I was there this week! -

Urban Barn is a Canadian chain of furniture stores that offer a style somewhere between Ikea and Bombay. Some of their stuff is super modern, but with quality comparable to what you would find at Bombay or a higher-end furniture store. They also carry lots of funky stuff like shower curtains from Umbra and other companies, as well as the collections from their own line.
One day, when I'm more of a grown-up, I'll definitely want more furniture from Urban Barn in my home. But for me right now, it's just a little out of my price range. It's still a fun place to go browsing, and especially to go test out couches and pretend that you're in your own well-designed living room instead of in a store :) -

A fun store to browse in and they had no problem with me bringing my dog in. I purchased my patio set and my coffee table here. I had to assemble the coffee table, which I don't like at this price range. Lots of interesting stuff. If I had any more space left in my house I'd buy more!

The sales staff are helpful, but at times too much "in your face". Prices are not very competitive, for brand name items, I can get them for 10-15% less at other retailers, which is not amusing since the MSRP is lower than their listing price. Good thing they have trendy design ideas.
Their sales are not very competitive however. -

Although I find the name of this store kind of random, I definitely like their stuff. Wanting to decorate my condo, but being on a strict budget. I headed downstairs to the basement of the store to check out their discount merchandise. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I got three matching candles and some nice faux iron holders for $7! A nice cream and brown throw for $30 and some discount bathroom stuff - and all of it cost way less than it would have at an upscale home furnishing store.
The great thing to is it's not Wal -Mart crap. All their stuff has that modern European IKEA feel to it and is priced similarly. Their furniture is a little pricier but its hand crafted and good quality (and you don't have to put it together yourself).
If you're on a budget and you want to spruce up your living space, Urban Barn is a great place to do it. -

I like this store and have no problem with saying it. Sure it might not offer original Eames chairs or furniture designed by the Bauhaus collective but at least the stuff is livable and stylish.
Unlike many middle-of the-road furniture shops, Urban Barn gives you the option to become your own designer offering you a range of fabrics and furniture designs to choose from. When shopping at this store your furniture becomes an expression of you rather than inviting two hairy men into your household to plunk down a yellow, chenille sectional from Sears.
The prices are reasonable and the custom orders can take from 5-9 weeks, but if you ask me, it's worth the wait for uniqueness. -

I've never had a bad experience at Urban Barn. I find the staff to be amazing and the furniture selection to be excellent, especially for those who live in smaller sized dwellings in Toronto. Only about half of it appeals to my tastes but I truly think they have something for almost everyone.
I have been through the purchase process twice, and the staff thoroughly explains all of the benefits of the furniture and all of the features, even if you have already made your decision.
The furniture is all made in Canada and it's really easy to personalize the majority of the couches as many are made-to-order. You can choose your fabric, add sofa beds to the standard size couches, have a stiffer filling added to your couch if that's your preference, and choose a soy-based filling if you prefer. The staff are friendly and really easy to deal with.
The only downside is they charge for delivery (kind of annoying when you're spending over $2000 on furniture) and while the prices aren't out of reach for me, I do find it just a tad on the pricey side.
I definitely recommend checking this place out. The ones out in the 'burns I've checked out all seem pretty great, too, but I've never purchased anything there. -

Urban barn reminds me of Pottery Barns, even the inside of the store does. I'm not sure why... This store has a very mainstream look about it. Furniture in the store are neither here nor there, but I get a sense that I've seen the same stuff somewhere before. It's all modern, but safe modern.
One good thing about the store is that all their couches are custom made.. Meaning you pick everything from the design, to the fabric, to the color to how soft/hard you want the couches. That's pretty neat if you ask me! There is of course a waiting time, but that's understandable.
The prices in this store aren't bad at all.. A little more expensive than Ikea, but not the ridiculous prices some other stores have. Worth a check out if you're looking for furniture and accessories for sure. -

Almost if not all of the furniture in my apartment comes from a parent, so it would be silly of me to say that I have a decorating style, I still have my parents taste. I do know that one day I will want to buy my own furniture and hopefully I will be able to buy it at Urban Barn. Urban Barn is a very nice store that looks the way I wish my apartment did. The furniture is expensive compared to other things I buy, but on the whole it is comparable to a Brick or the mayor's own Bad Boy. If you are in the market for a couch or a kitchen table then I would highly recommend making your way to the Urban Barn because all their stuff is really nice.

Urban Barn offers modern, well-designed furniture that is made in Canada. I really love my chairs and ottoman. Prices are totally reasonable, too.

I had really great luck at this location, and the one at Vaughan Mills. Excellent service, good selection of stuff in various price ranges. We bought a couch and bed here...I'll let you know in a year or two how it holds up....but I think its gonna be good!

the most exciting and unique thing i saw at this store, that ive never seen elsewhere is this huge seat that looked like it might have come from an old Lily Tomlin sketch. im sure there was a formal name they had given it, but it was like an over-sized couch/chair. lets call it The Couchair.
The Couchair can come in many different colours; the fabric is chosen by you and created when you order it as opposed to it sitting in a warehouse somewhere. i dont really know why thats a benefit to be honest. what do i care? its not in a custom design (besides fabric). The Couchair is purrrrfect for The Couple. very snuggly. (dont tell anyone i used that word).
as far as the other furniture and accessories go, its pretty standard stuff. its the type of stuff youd see in a show room for a condo. most of the products dont come from canada, but from china. i asked. they are doing some things to make their operations more environmentally friendly (check their website if you like); you can for example upgrade, for a cost, your foams to bio-foams. i wonder though whether stuff like that is canceled out by where most of the stuff is made.
think mildly more upscale, but similar style, to ikea, arranged like the 5th floor of the bay and youve got it. -

I like Urban Barn for offering me great value. I shopped at the expensive stores further east and found a couch I like. They were charging an insane amount for it. I got the name of the manufacturer and put my googling skills to work and found the couch at Urban Barn for $800 less.
