Review from Kat F.
I'm so grateful to Yelp for helping me navigate the murky waters of hair removal services in San Francisco and leading me straight to Urban Allure. It can be difficult tracking down a reputable salon that gives great results and is also affordable, so I'm thrilled to have found a perfect match!
The hair removal services I've received here have been truly outstanding. Emily is a consummate professional and also exceptionally sweet - even though I only come for an appointment every 6-8 weeks she is always quick to remember little details about past conversations we've had, and I feel like she's a very genuine person.
My results have been incredible. After only a few visits my hair growth has come to a screeching halt and the areas that resist are only sparsely populated with hair. Prices are more than reasonable, especially once the initial sessions have elapsed and you're in 'maintenance mode.' Luckily I have no shortage of body parts that could benefit from hair removal so I will continue to come to Urban Allure for months to come. Just a warning - once you start doing laser hair removal it can become addictive, so make sure you're ready for the bliss that comes from no longer having to deal with ingrowns and unsightly regrowth.
It's always been easy for me to get a lunchtime or post-work appointment and for small areas the pain is over before you know it. Personally I have a high pain tolerance so I never find the sessions to be uncomfortable but if you're sensitive you may feel differently. Because the appointments are short (5-10 minutes) I just sort of power through it and move on. There is some redness afterwards but it subsides within about 30 minutes. My only regret is that I didn't get this party started sooner in life - so many wasted razors and muslin strips...
If you have any questions about what it's like to get laser hair removal, feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to answer them. -

I was having some serious ingrown hairs under my chin and neck area of my face. I was tired of the bumps after I shaved. It looked like i had a rash everytime. My friend Sarah recommended lazer removal at Urban Allure, as she is a frequent user. I hesitated at first, being kinda embarrassed. Sarah end up daring me, offering to pay for the first visit. Long story short, I went and was really surprised. The staff treated me like a star and the laser removal was quick. In a few snaps, it was done. I told my wife about this place and now she is a frequent user. Now my face isn't baby skin smooth, but it sure is close. For these kind of services I definitely recommend Urban Allure.

Went to see Emily for botox just before the holidays and I was impressed. I've had the procedure done a few times elsewhere, so I know what to expect (good and bad). Emily listened, was friendly and she nailed it. It didn't hurt and I literally went out for drinks with friends 20 minutes later looking bump/bruise-free! She recommended some products for issues I mentioned, but didn't push it. Easy appt, great follow-up, nice desk staff, competitive prices.
I'll be a 5 star review if the results last the normal run! I highly recommend them. -

What do you want from a laser hair removal facility? Let's discuss each point:
1. Accessibility to appointments- depending on which area you are having treated, appts usually only run 20m or so. This place puts you on hold so many times while you're trying to book an appt, it ends up taking 20 min! I think they blew up because of their bloomspot/Groupon/whatever offers and can't keep up. Which brings me to my next point...
2. We all have different skin types and different reactions to lasers but this place seems to base their setting on which box you check on page 2 of their 'inventory forms.' They don't want to hear if you're inbetween 2 skin types or have other concerns. They book their appts so close together that they just want you to shut up and reveal your hairy area so they can start zapping away.
3. When I expressed dissatisfaction with their services and asked for a prorated refund, I was told they couldn't do that and not even asked what was wrong. Don't you think you should ask WHY and see if you can make it better? Guess not!
There are TONS of laser hair removal centers all over the city and my suggestion would be going to one like Serenity MedSpa or somewhere else because this place is only interested in taking your money. I guess you do get what you pay for. -

Super professional, super sweet, super awesome. Everyone here is a gem. When you are getting lasers pointed at different parts of your body, you want to know you are in good hands. Everyone here has made me feel comfortable and welcome. I've been in for 4 laser hair removal treatments and one IPL treatment and all have been handled with extreme grace. I'm sure it isn't fun trying to zap someone with a hot laser, but they manage to keep you relaxed and keep pushing through so it gets done quick.
It's not as painful as you think it would be, it's mostly the suddenness and anticipation that get you. Have a glass of wine before and you'll do fine! You are in good hands here. I also like that they'll let me set up appointments over email. So convenient. -

This place is the bee's knees.
I came here with a Bloomspot offer. When I arrived for my first appointment they told me that since I had fair, fine hair its very possible the laser removal wouldn't work for me (it's attracted to dark, coarse hair). They told me they would give me one free session (I had already bought 3 through the offer) and if in a month when it's time for my next appointment if I didn't see any results they would refund my ENTIRE purchase. Wow! I think that's a wonderful thing to offer, and proves they care about their service and clients more than the bottom line.
Turns out I saw enough of a difference I came back 3 more times and each time every service was quick, efficient and friendly. I received email reminders for my appointments and was always greeted with a smile. I'm very pleased not only with my treatment, but my service. -

When you see some alien-faced Real Housewife on TV, it's hard not to be amused by her useless ruse. BABY. You don't look young. You look like you're made of Play-Doh. It's SO funny! Until you realize that frozen face is the same age as your own. That's when laughter turns to tears.
While I absolutely refuse to puff up, fill in or paralyze any part of my mug, I certainly don't want to look like someone who has done all the bad things I have done. I think that's what they call the Botox paradox.
And so someone suggested I try IPL, the topical face zapping that gets rid of broken blood vessels and sun damage and gets you your glow back. I had no idea where to go and no one to ask (since all my friends have a healthier self-image than I do), so I did a keyword search and found Urban Allure on Yelp. All the 5 star reviews convinced me to give this place a try. And all I can say is, this was Yelp at its best. Thanks, my controversial little review site, for introducing me to this wonderful staff, taking the rummy redness out of my face and de-freckling my chest.
So now if you want to know that I spent most of my youth in bars and on the beach, you'll have to ask me. Because my face just got a lot better at keeping secrets.Listed in: Oh, the Huge Vanity

My most recent visit here was just A-OK. I'm glad that they didn't charge me a fee because i was a good 15 min late. Coming from San Jose it was a drive plus i didn't know that there was a giants game going on that added to the traffic.
The prices alone lost a star for me. I bought a certificate from http://Bloomspot.com for 3 sessions for $185. There were certain disclosers that i did not see on the certificate that were supposedly there. IDK. Other than that the designated area i wanted lasered off was limited and in the end they get a 0.5 star because she ended up treating some of the areas that weren't designated but she did anyways.
They are ran by all nurses. They do have a doctor there but who does not do laser hair removal. They were very informative in the procedures they do and the staff that worked there. The place is very clean and they do make you feel comfortable.
If they weren't so far i might have given them another star, but the prices again don't compare to my convenient laser hair removal place in San Jose. They do however have a lot of street parking that you do need to pay a meter for. Quite expensive because it is downtown sf. Not sure how the parking might be if you go during normal business hours. -

Erin at Urban Allure did my first laser hair removal treatment recently and I love the results! Weeks later, there's only a few sparse hairs that have grown back and I can't wait to get them nixed at my next appointment. I highly recommend Urban Allure for its clean environment and their very great staff, but I also chose them for their excellent packages. I found their rates reasonable and competitive. I've got a pretty high pain tolerance and so I didn't opt to pay extra for the numbing cream and I was okay. If you don't like to feel any pain in rather tender regions then I would recommend paying an extra 10 or so dollars and having a pain-free experience.

The best in the area (that I have tried so far)! Now, I wont bother going anywhere else! The office is nice and tidy; very cozy and has never been overly crowded.
The ladies have never been anything but nice or friendly and never pretentious. (At other places, I often feel out of place or feel that people are condescending. Not at all with Urban Allure.) I do have a preference for some over others, but they are very professional and the more you go, the more you get used to everyone.
I love that the website lists prices and details procedures. It's so much easier to know what procedures and treatment areas are offered rather than having to inquire.
Another reason why I chose UA, is because they use a laser that doesnt require the application of sonogram gunk (aka some sort of massive quantities of ky jelly like substances). (Other laser places need the jelly substance that acts as a cooling agent.) UA's laser uses a blast of cold air but they will demonstrate the procedure on your hand if you're scared to death (like I was.. um, I mean, my friend was).
They have done it all before (at least that's what they tell me all the time) and I believe them, cause it seems old hat to them!
I wanted to be hairless (ahem, from the waist down). And having been a virgin on the bikini wax scene, I was very reluctant to sign up for such things. Esp at the prospect of getting a brazillian laser style.
So, here's the skinny...
The brazilian covers the trail to your belly button, your love triangle and the back end... all up in your biz.
__________________________________________
The procedure...
You have to shave first... I usually do it a day or two before. (and you never realize how much hair you have all deep inside crevices until you are given the task to shave down there.)
I asked for numbing cream.
They leave you in a room with numbing cream, gloves, a tongue depressor (for scooping and spreading), plastic film and a cloth like cover. You're left alone to apply the numbing cream, then cover the area with the protective plastic. You then cover yourself with the cloth. You are on your own for about 30 mins.
Then they come a'knockin. You are given gauze to remove the bulk of the cream. Then wipes to remove any residue. (This is also super fantastic, cause I always try to be super clean when I get there. This is like double insurance!) They give you more alone time and come back in about 15 mins.
Then it's down to business. The first set of business has you laying on your back. They ask you to bend your leg and have it turned out to the side, like a frog. Then they zap away. Then they (with gloved hands) move you so that they can get more into the crevices. Then on to the other side...
Then it's flip time. And they just have you lie on your tummy this time. And it sorta feels like they are prodding you, getting into your most hidden regions. You almost cant help but feel violated, but at the same time you hope that they succeed at getting every last hair. (I've heard that other places are not as thorough in regards to being true brazilians.)
Then it's over and you are given aloe gel to apply to the treated area and time to re-dress.
__________________________________________
The hair seems to start falling out after the one week mark. Until then, the area can still have the appearance of stubble. Because the area can be sensitive, shaving over it is not highly recommended, nor is it very effective.
You are advised not to pluck, extract or help the hairs along in anyway. I do so anyway (but only after they seem to come out with little to no effort). You almost cant help it. But so far it hasnt detracted from the effectiveness of the treatments.
It is recommended that you exfoliate the area. I guess the hairs are more fragile now and have a harder time pushing their way through the surface of the skin. After my first treatment I had two unsightly ingrown hairs (but I'm proned to such things). Now I used a wash that has salicylic acid. That seems to have stopped the recurrence of ingrown hairs. woohoo!!
They also offer touch ups if they missed a spot.
The results are completely worth the aforementioned process! The pain seems to be on the level with eyebrow waxings. I'm extremely happy to be have less hair!! Highly recommended, all the way around!

Side notes: I wish they had better business hours, but they are always willing to work with you and come in after hours or on wknds. As of late they have been offering wknd hours w/out special requests. For your birthday you get a 10% discount coupon seems to be good for about a month or two. They often have seasonal specials online. I would recommend this place to anyone that asks, and sort of wish I can just spring this recommendation on people!! -

I never thought I'd be here ~ never thought I'd be brave enough to FACE the truth, but unfortunately I've reached an age where I can no longer hide from it. Not to mention, my primary care Doctor is keen on reminding me of my age and is mailing me brochures for specials on injectable fillers such as Botox, restylene, juvederm. I was offended by her gesture, but now realize that quite possibly I'm looking a little 'tired' these days (Gawd help me). Life has its challenges.
For me, the first challenge is trying to hide 3rd degree burns to one side of my face, which till now has been easy to do, however, the reality is my biological clock is tick, tick, ticking and with this there appears to be a loss in my body's natural ability to create elasticity (thanks, shrinking pituitary gland). So now aging is starting to show, especially on the burned side of my face. Think of the comedy & sad mask ~ yes, that's me, one side droopy with slight wrinkles and the other side fine, fresh supple looking. Oy Vey!!!
Another challenge, I don't sleep well at night (because of my nightly thoughts in knowing that planet earth is just a small little speck of dust spinning crazily around the sun's solar system, which can (and likely will) be hit by another cosmic speck of dust which will ultimately annihilate life as we know it; this is always at the forefront of my subconscious mind).
Okay, I'm rambling ~ my point is, science has proven that those who lack sleep tend to age faster than those who sleep well, not to mention lose focus easier, and have less short-term memory; wait, what was I talking about again. ; ^)
So aside from my third challenge to stay focus, the two previous challenges combined are ultimately affecting my youthful good looks. With this, I have decided to accept the challenge and find a way to combat them. And with much research I've resolved injectable fillers are not for me. So what is the alternative... Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments ~ yes, sign me up!
Urban Allure is my go to place for lunch time IPL treatments, and Emily is fantastic. She understands my goal and is helping me achieve (retain) a youthful, fresh and well-rested look. She's even zapped my hands so they match my face... Nice.
I can't say the IPL treatment is a pleasurable experience (think putting your finger in an electric socket type pain), nor is it cheep. But as we get oldER, I'm finding age to be painfully expensive (pun intended).
As for results, a few weeks after my first treatment I received compliments from friends, acquaintances and random strangers. The results were subtle and slightly noticeable. Hell, I believe the best compliment came from a random stranger, a female checker at my local trader Joes carded me when buying alcohol. She was quite rude too in saying "get your I.D. out, I don't want to have to waste my time ringing everything up." I was surprised, said "wah?" handed it to her and she looked at me, then my license, looked back at me and said "oh my, I had no idea; good job." I took this as a compliment. Another random person is a young lady who is new waitress at one of my favorite restaurants. When seating me she asked, "did you do something different, you look, well, really good." My response, I applied make-up; but I knew the real truth.
I have had two treatments so far and now look 20yrs younger. Okay, I'm kidding on the 20 yrs younger (don't need to repeat my adolescence), but I certainly look well rested and the elasticity of my skin has improved greatly. I've two more treatments to go, then perhaps I will look 20yrs younger. 8*)Listed in: Beauty is Hard to Manage

Erin is a gem.
I highly recommend laser hair removal and Erin was so friendly and professional, she immediately put me at ease. (I was a little concerned about burning my skin, which proved to be silly).
Here are some details:
It's not a spa - not anywhere close. Whoever wrote that is insane. It's more like a nice doctors office. Very clean.
Secondly, it really doesn't hurt! I have no idea why I have wasted so much time and money waxing. Don't do it! Just head to Erin and get that shit lasered!
Finally, Erin's very upfront about the process - what's happening and what you'll experience. It was great to know "You'll see a bright flash, feel a zap and smell burning hair." Really that's all there it to it!
I highly, highly recommend Urban Allure.Listed in: Going to the Chapel - with the…

Review from Vicky L.
Somewhere between high school and college, I developed super sensitive skin. Although I tan pretty quickly, it also makes my acne scars darker. And even though I didn't pick at my face, most of my pimples left scars which became really irritating, because although my acne is clearing out, it leaves its mark to remind me of my teen years.
I tried IPL to get rid of my scars at another spa, which worked at first, but any bit of sunlight, even though I SPF30ed it, brought back the marks. I tried peels and creams and stuff, which worked minimally, so I decided to Yelp a new facialist.
Thank goodness for Rocio at Urban Allure! She assessed my skin and said the most effective would probably be the Vitalize peel, with facials in-between for extractions. She was super nice, and was very thorough. I've never once had a facialist work on my face the ENTIRE session - usually they leave you to steam and walk out of the room. Rocio's hands literally never stopped working on my facial the whole time I was there. Kudos!
I've had two peels so far, and although she told me that sometimes people get darker spots the first two sessions, my skin is getting lighter. I can't help but pick at my skin when it peels, mostly to look presentable for work, but even though I've been pulling the loose skin off, my skin is looking better.
I can't wait to see the result after a couple more peels and facials! -

This is the only place i've been to for laser treatments, but so far i've been extremely happy with my results that i don't feel the need to look somewhere else! I'm in and out of the place in less than 15 min for each underarm treament, i wish i had found this place sooner! The staff here is great, professional but still friendly. I love it!
The only downside is that it's located in the financial district which means HORRENDOUS PARKING. Every time i come i worry about getting a ticket! I wish they had their own parking lot or could valet parking because the one garage i found was $12/hr!!! Are they crazyyyy???!? :( -

This review is a little tougher to write because i have a different set of stars for the spa vs. the esthetician...
first let me validate and say that i can be a bit of a spa whore. I've been to many. I've also been in strong pursuit for a good (not even great, just good) eyebrow artist (yes, they are "artists").
i have "strong", as they've been described, eyebrows, that, if not properly groomed, could easily be mistaken for two overstuffed caterpillars that crawled onto my face and died. So you can see, why its important that I find the right person to shape them nicely, pulling them away from my eyes and out of my mouth. Ok, so they're not THAT bad, but you get what I'm saying.
Many many estheticians West of the Mississippi have been driven through auditions of becoming my #1 eyebrow lady. And, I'm happy to say that Rocio of Urban Allure has been recently chosen to play leading lady in the film that is the "Life of And Times of My Groomed Brows". She was absolutely wonderful, patient, and as meticulous as a mid-century painter.
As far as the spa is concerned, it's pretty nice, but more of a "4 star" nice (just being honest here). It feels more like a doctors office then a spa...I think the right lighting, aromatherapy smells, and softer tread amongst the staff could give it that 5-star oasis of relaxation feel. They're not far off, and I have to say that the staff was pleasant, I didn't have to wait long for my appointment and the location was conveniently close to Union Square.
All in all, I'll obviously be back...and maybe next time, I'll even try some of the other treatments they offer. -

Wow! What can I say, Urban Allure is amazing, and so is laser hair removal. I just finished my first treatments, but so far the hair is just gone. I can't believe it, its been several weeks and wow!!
If you are someone who has dealt with shaving and waxing constantly and all of its annoying and expensive trials and tribulations, laser may be for you. Also, if you are light skinned with dark hair, then you will be a good candidate. In the end it saves you money, much cheaper in the long run than waxing or electrolysis! Also they have periodic deals that can save you lots of money, and they don't nickle and dime you with the areas you are getting done, in other words they are generous in their applications (think fighting with your waxing person to not charge you for the the 3 extra hairs she ends up waxing off that is not technically on your lower leg, for example--you won't find that here).
Erin is very professional, warm and competent. She is a registered nurse and you will be in good hands. Salon is private, comfortable and upscaleish in a financial district sort of way. Erin has great bedside manner.
If you check them out you'll quickly see why they only have perfect 5 star reviews on yelp. That's why I chose them and I wasn't disappointed. -

This place is awesome! After reading all these stellar reviews on Yelp I decided to make an appointment. They are right in the heart of the financial district, one minute from my work!
I have been looking for someone who is very good at microdermabrasion. I lost my regular girl as she retired. I have tried the Claremont resort, but the results and service has been mediocre.
Roscio showed me the new generation of Microdermabrasion equipment and it is more comfortable. I got better results from their equipment vs. the old air blast sand storm equipment. She spent a good 25 minutes going over my face, in addition she also did my neck - I have to say most places charge extra for this! After the dermo, she gave me a very relaxing mini facial hydration that was very enjoyable. She is very pleasant and professional and not too talkative, so I really could relax. It was hard to get off the table.
My skin looks fantastic. I have already made an appointment to go back in a couple weeks to start a series of mini peels that she she recommended, she sent me away with a couple of samples also.
Prices are reasonable, especially considering they really give you quality time and service. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the place is small and clean , inviting and relaxing. This is a great spot in the financial district! -

I like my gestures of renewal and revival to be grandiose.
And after this heart break of mine, I knew that any ol' break-up haircut just wouldn't do. I would have to do something dramatic and fabulous, something fearless....like Brazilian laser hair removal! Yes! Who says my break-up haircut has to be above the waist!
I called Urban Allure to set up an appointment. I had actually been considering this procedure for some time, but there is something a little terrifying about the thought of a laser on my sensitive parts.
The menu of hair removal options is extensive, so much so I had to ask for clarification...."extended Brazilian"? How much more extended could it be? Turns out the extension part refers to the upper upper thigh. Good to know.
After a friendly and thorough consultation, I was ready to go. I was offered numbing cream (I believe it cost $10 and takes about 30-40 minutes to kick in), which I declined. What's a little more pain, considering.
However, I did opt to hold my breath (mostly by accident)...next time I'll try breathing. The actual zapping takes only about 5 minutes. That's it? Oh, why did I wait so long to do this!
The office was clean and reminiscent of that of a doctor, not a spa. The staff are professional and unpretentious.
Erin was especially amazing! She put me at ease from the beginning, we even shared a laugh or two.
Several sessions are required to zap all the hair, which grows in cycles. So while it is too soon to categorically call this the best $1080 (the cost of a 4 session package) I have ever spent in my life, the scary part is over (and it's not really scary) and my first session at Urban Allure left me feeling (at least for a moment) faboo and fearless...mission accomplished. -

The 5 star reviews you see on Yelp are for good reason. I have had a number of facilists and Rocio by far is the best. I love that they don't push products. Get a couple of facials and you will be asking them what you need to maintain your beautiful, new skin. I have brown skin, so ladies of all skin types should feel comfortable coming here. I got a peel last winter and my face has been looking so great. A few weeks after the peel it looked so good I wanted to stop by the office just to show it off. I was so excited and so grateful.
It's your responsibility to keep up your skin care. However, you should definitely leave deep maintenance to the pros to get and keep you on the right track. This is the place. -

Erin told me that it would not hurt to get laser hair removal in my nether region and you know what....she was right. I was happily amazed. Not only did it not hurt all that much after the lidocaine solution was administered but it was over quick. This is not to say that I didn't appreciate her company or service or wanted to leave quickly but honestly who wants to have their nether region tampered with if it is not for SEX.
I am sold I will definitely be back to take care of all and any unwanted hair with Erin. No more waxing, shaving, or depilitories. Free at last!! -

Urban Allure is THE place to go for hair removal and superb skincare. Erin and Emily are completely focused on making the client the #1 priority, and they've created a comfortable space with the perfect mix of kindness and professionalism--and they're REALLY good at what they do, too. Thanks to the expertise of these ladies and the IPL treatments, my skin looks better than it has in a long time! I work in the medical profession and am a bit of a spa/skincare connoisseur so trust me --you will feel taken care of at UA and catered to. I send everyone here to solve skin and hair problems. (Ummm they will also gladly remove that unsightly hair from your boyfriend's back, so get him in there pronto!)
UPDATE 5/6/08: It's been awhile since I wrote this review, so I thought I'd come back with more info for you... On the hair removal front, I sent another friend in for laser hair removal and she was reluctant, but is now hooked like a fish. Every time she sees me she tells me how happy she is that she finally invested in the procedure at Urban Allure in particular, and loves Erin and Emily and the whole experience--she is super shy about baring her bod and feels very comfortable here.
I've had the best facials EVER here too over the last year and Rocia recently squeezed me in at the last minute (Thank God) for a prescription facial. She really knows her stuff and is great at analyzing skin and suggesting products to solve problems. The facial itself was bliss and as usual, I was relaxed and revived afterward. I'll definitely be back for more! -

Superb! Not only is the environment at Urban Allure visibly clean but also stylish and relaxing.
The only draw back is that you are going to become addicted to laser hair removal!
As of today I will be working on three different areas of my body with plans to laser off the hair everywhere else the laser will work for my hair type! As someone who has struggled with various hair removal methods due to my extreme skin sensitivity I cannot recommend laser hair removal enough. I don't even think that it hurts that bad....Waxing seems worse to me!
I see Emily and love her! She is very professional and yet fun to hang out with while we fry all of the little hairs off my body! She is kind and warm and has been nothing but helpful with any of my questions before, during, and after treatments. -

Oh Urban Allure...
I booked an appointment for spa week. I was really looking forward to my massage and facial, both at great prices from a business that was highly rated!
Something came up last minute, and I called to cancel ONE of my two appointments. I got the answering machine, but left a detailed message about the appointment I wanted to keep, and the one I wanted to cancel. I get a message back confirming, but the person sounds a little confused, so I decide to give them a call to make sure everything is straight. Nope. Someone had canceled both appointments. There were no other openings, which I expected, so I chalked it up as a loss, and moved on.
10 minutes later I get a call stating that I can come in at an earlier time that morning, GREAT! I'm happy that people were willing to go above and beyond and make arrangements. Unfortunately, I was told a time later than what I was actually scheduled for, AND I never got a confirmation/reminder call the day before, so I missed my appointment. While on the phone trying to explain and get things straightened out, I was told there was nothing they could do AND they'd still be charging me for missing the appointment.
Really? I gave 2 stars because I really do appreciate that they tried to squeeze me in... -

FACIAL REVIEW: Heidi gives the most relaxing facials evah!!!
On one of the worst storm days in San Francisco, I bear through the horrendous traffic with out-of -service street lights, fallen trees and torrential rains to go downtown all in the name of vanity. I need a facial and like the Post Office, "Neither rain nor snow nor dark of night will" stop me.
When I enter Urban Allure(UA), soft candles and a pleasant sweet smell welcome me. They use this temporary lighting since the storm leaves them only limited power. They apologize but it works for me, feels like I'm in sanctuary.
Heidi with her soft and soothing voice greets me. My first treat is the electric blanket and plush drape that both feel super cozy. The facial begins and I notice right away that Heidi has great hands: flow and touch are extremely relaxing and I feel right at ease. I also love that after applying my mask, Heidi does not leave the room like so many other places but stays and massages my hands and arms...heaven:)
When the facial is over, Heidi talks with me about my skin. She's quite informative and more clinical than other aestheticians. I learn a lot. I have to start using SPF30 rather than 15. Since I was out of skin care products and I ask, Heidi confers with Erin and helps me pick out products specifically for my skin. They have a few lines: Nia24(my choice), Obagi, Colorescience and La Roche Posay.
I know both Emily and Erin and Emily told me that I would LOVE the facial. I thought that bc she worked there is why she said that. HOWEVER, I have had many, many facials and Heidi gave me one of the most effective and relaxing facials that I've ever received(plus, I got to geek out too!). Believe me, I have the skin prove it:D
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! (Wish it were closer to my house though.) -

I highly recommend Urban Allure for laser hair removal After an incredibly frustrating experience at Aneu on Fillmore, I was so grateful to find Erin at Urban Allure.
Erin, who's a registered nurse, patiently and carefully explains the process of laser hair removal. She never pushes anything and she's a lot of fun to spend time with (as much fun as one can have while having their hair lasered off). She's incredibly professional but very down to earth and easy to talk to. -

I've been to 2 other spas/skin care clinics for numerous sessions of laser hair removal in the Bay Area and my best experience by far has been at Urban Allure. Erin, an RN and laser technician, has performed all of my sessions and she is a professional. She takes the time to explain what she's doing, she's very aware of your comfort and she asks a lot of questions to make sure you are getting the best possible results. I feel like they are not just pointing a laser at you here and hoping for the best. That's the thing I like most about Urban Allure: they take what they are doing seriously.

-- I think that they have overcharged me, so be sure to watch you bill/credit card if you go to them
-- Out of sight/touch owner who does not seem to care about customers
--If they cancel an appt. on you-- too bad!, but if you cancel on them, you pay $.
-- Poor notice/follow up with customers
-- Little appreciation for good / fair customer service
Lots of headaches if you choose to go to UA! -

Um, LOVE IT!
LIke someone else said, the main drawback is the desire to have Urban Allure laser every last hair off of your entire body.
Emily is fabulous- extremely knowledgeable, explains everthing before it happens, is totally reassuring, and knows the latest celebrity gossip. Always a plus.
It is just awesome. Seriously. -

Streamlined, elegant, effective. There aren't all the extra fancy frills that the super-plush spas have, but I'd rather not be paying for all that anyways and spend my money on treatments that actually work.
Rocio is friendly and a great facialist. I appreciated that she didn't try to push unnecessary expensive treatments on me. I even told her my dermatologist had recommended I do IPL and she said, "Why?" Rocio said all I really needed for my normally oily but currently winter-chapped skin was a hydrating facial. Much less costly and my skin was glowing afterwards.
I'm pretty cautious about what I put on my face or what dermatologists/facialists do to it so I'm quite satisfied! -

Purchased a Bloomspot deal for laser - first session (first ever laser session) was with Erin. It was fairly painless and results were good. Second session was with Emily - OMG - I have had a lot of major medical procedures and none of them hurt as much as that!!! I told her it was painful and burning and she acted like that was normal...I was scared of her and that burning wand in her hand!!! Once I was done I couldn't wait to slather on the aloe. By the next day I was burned and scarred with dark half moons all over my belly on down. Went back in for them to take a look and they gave me a tiny container of cream to put on. No apologies from Emily!? I am not done with my sessions but I am terrified to go back. I have been getting laser on another area at Trio Skincare and honestly it is painless!!! Four sessions and no pain - great results. So two stars since Erin was good.

i'm just past my second vitalize peel here in 1 month. the first round that i went in, i told rocio that i wanted to be set free from the endless cycle of foundation/powder-acne-more foundation-more acne... so although i've looked like a zombie every 2 weekends, my skin is like, 400% better than before.
needless to say i've stopped wearing foundation with confidence and i'll be going back for my 3rd, and last vitalize.
other than that, this place is extra clean and very professional, and i have full confidence that they have my best "skinterest" in mind, and not just what will be more profitable for them; something that i havent always encountered at other spas/derms. will definitely come here when im ready for laser hair removal! -

Urban Allure is fabulous! It is different from any other skin salon I have ever visited in that it is located in an office building in the Financial District. You can stop in during lunch, get a treatment and return to the office glowing and no one will know the difference.
The staff are warm and professional. It is a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere which feels so much more private than most salons. Erin did my treatment. I have been going to her for laser hair removal for years. She is a miracle worker. My problem areas are no longer problems. She also does a great job with IPL.
I highly recommend Urban Allure. Great service, wonderful location, and fabulous results. -

I've been to Urban Allure a few times. The facials are hit or miss; I loved my first one but the second one left my skin very dry and flaky. My complaint with this place is that they had "spa week" in September and I experienced terrible customer service during this time. If you run a promotion that is too popular and you get booked up, the customer friendly thing to do is to offer a wait list or agree to honor the price at a later date. Completely turned off after my negative experience and won't return.

I must say, yelp reviewers... indeed reviewed this place accordingly... I was looking for a skin care place close to work and very professional. I came to yelp and found this place! So of course, I wanted to give it a try!
The service was GREAT! Very friendly and welcoming! I actually made an appt last week but they had to cancel it due to family emergency... which was understandable... heck, if I had a family emergency don't expect me to be at work! So, I rescheduled it for today!
Rocio, the person who gave me a facial answered all my questions regarding my skin and believed me, I asked a lot!!! She knows her stuff and gave a very good explanation to my questions. The only time I actually shut my mouth was when she gave me a shoulder massage... Yup, I almost fell asleep! I told her I had a certain amount of time before I had to go back to work. She didn't rush yet manages to finish everything on time... the extraction, the mask, the massages. At the end of the session, she recommended me some stuff (samples) and DID NOT pressure me to buy any of their products. That's a plus of course...
Erin, was very friendly! Because they had to reschedule my appt, they gave me 10% off! Wow... I wasn't expecting that! Even though Rocio did not pressure me to buy their products, I wanted to try their cleanser anyways... I got 25% off because it was their "special" for this month! (I didn't expect that either but they do have monthly special deals!!! - So take a look at their website!)
I walked out of there thinking... I'll be back for my next appt! -

My only regret is that it took me this long to get a laser treatment.
I've gotten Brazilian waxes for years. From a cost standpoint, the laser treatment was the same cost as a years worth of waxings. But with the laser treatment, I didn't have to experience the gross in between waxing stage (where you have to grow out the hair so it can be waxed) or stubborn ingrown hairs.
To top it off, Urban Allure has monthly specials. I got my underarms lasered for free (with purchase of bikini laser)!! I haven't shaved my underarms in about 3 months, not a single hair is there. As for my bikini line, I just had my last treatment. I would say about 95%+ of my hair is gone. The minimal hair that is left is very fine baby hair.
Honestly, the laser treatment is one of my best beauty investments. I suggest using Erin, she's great. I've read the other reviews that the process was painless, I didn't think so. I would spent the extra $10 and get the numbing cream.
I also got the prescription clinical facial from Roccia. My skin was a mess. My face was dry/dehydrated and I had acne all over. It's one of those times where you get really frustrated with your skin. It's an expensive facial ($150) but worth it if you want RESULTS. She spends a lot more time working on your face compared to a high end spa. She seriously cleaned every single pore on my face. My face was a little red for a day. She mentioned that my skin would start looking really good in a few days, she was right! For the next few days, my face look better with each passing day. Everyday, my face looked fresher, more hydrated, and my acne starting clearing up. With other facials, my skin looks good during the day of the facial and gradually declines in appearance over the next few days. Not this one. The appearance of my skin improved with each passing day. I highly recommend getting the prescription clinical facial if your skin is "in need of repair". I highly recommend getting a customized facial from Roccia. -

Another 5 stars! I've been lasered and facial-ed here and have had excellent service, results, etc. When I'm ready for more "advanced" services, I plan to come here again.

I was sick of getting Brazilian waxes. They are awkward, painful, and you have to wait for the hair to grow out before you can go through the same painful process again.
Therefore, I started looking for alternatives. I ultimately chose this place for laser hair removal because Urban Allure had the best reviews in SF...and yelp did not steer me wrong. : )
I bought the 4 laser treatment package for the Brazilian Bikini. After the first visit, I noticed a HUGE difference. After all 4, I barely have to shave and when I do, it is a only a few hairs. The results are incredible and I HIGHLY recommend it!
I did, however, choose not to use numbing cream and the laser was a little painful (as expected). Luckily, the treatment only lasts 15 minutes per session - tops. Erin is great! She has a really calming demeanor that made the procedure go by quickly. She is friendly and I will for sure go back to her to laser my underarms soon!
Do note that this place is a little pricey though...The prices are posted on their website so I knew what I was getting myself into, but $1,080 for four 15 minute treatments is a bit steep....
Is summary - Urban Allure exceeded my expectations and I will for sure be back for more laser. Even though it is a bit more expensive than other places, I want the best.
