Upsidedive is an impossibly cute vintage shop operated by, according to their site, "Four siblings with various interests have combined their efforts as purveyors of previously loved goods." I never would have known they existed had I not stumbled across their site. Located on a rather desolate stretch of Queen St. E (between Sherbourne and Parliament), it's hard to miss if you're not looking for it.

They seem to specialize in mid-century furniture and housewares, although they do also carry a number of vintage shoes and boots and some clothing as well. Unlike the mid-mod stretch further East along Queen, the prices at Upsidedive are shockingly low. Today, I picked up an upholstered teak armchair and a walnut bookshelf for $225 total. If I wasn't trying to watch my budget, I would likely have left with a number of amazing vintage kitchenwares and clocks, and radios, and lamps, and... you get the point. Don't expect everything to be in pristine condition with the name of the designer printed on the price tag. This place is less about snobbery and more about getting some great recycled pieces at a great price.

Of the times I have been in the staff have always been extremely helpful. Today, the guy working helped us load up the car in the pouring rain and even brought out a giant umbrella. He gave us lots of tips on how to spruce up the pieces we bought and keep them looking good as well. I believe they also take down names and email addresses if you are looking for a specific piece. You can also check their web site for an idea of the stock.

If you are at all interested in vintage stuff this place is a must.
