Université Sainte-Anne, on Walnut Street, is a satellite office of the main university localed in Church Point (Pointe de l'Église), on the Acadian shore of Nova Scotia.  Université Sainte-Anne offers the only higher education Francophone campus in the province.

The Halifax office offers outreach and part-time courses, appealing to adult learners.  It also offers private courses, which - among others - is contracted to various federal government locations in the city.

I've taken an enrichment course that was offered to the federal government and I have to say it didn't compare to a similar course I took at a language school.  I was expecting exercises and developmental work.  Instead, we focused almost exclusively on conversational French.  Don't get me wrong - I can always use practice, but I was really hoping for more of a refresher course in grammar and verbs.

However, I've spoke with others who have been in similar courses, and they've all been very happy with their experience. It's possible that my course was a one-off, of course, but it definitely soured me on future courses of that type.

The bottom line is that Université Sainte-Anne offers one of the few French first-language learning opportunities.
