This is the only bottle depot I know of in town where 100% of the deposit is returned to you. Most depots rip you off but since this depot's located on the edge of Edmonton's underbelly, you can't pull one over on the serious bottle collectors who cash in here for their daily survival allowances. They know how much each bag of bottles is worth before the "bottle boy" counts them. It's open seven days a week and you can see guys, sometimes with three or four garbage bags over their back, at 8 a.m., ready to be first in line. The crowd's quite assorted, but everyone minds their own business but the bees, which are pretty bad in the summer. The smell is also stale, not especially conducive to hangovers. But the transaction is swift: drop-off, count, cash, and you do your piece to help save the environment and buy your next case of beer.
