I've been attending the Unitarian Church of Edmonton (UCE) for several weeks now, and I must say that it is a very wonderful church. Sunday services are open and welcoming to all, and they feel very "genuine," for lack of a better word.

The church building itself is very nice, and the sanctuary has a "baby room" similar to those that are often found at theatres and music halls, so that parents with fussy children can still hear the sermon without disturbing the rest of the congregation (and, after sitting through a service filled with crying babies at the Westwood Unitarian congregation, I have a new appreciation for the "baby room").

The only issue I have about UCE is that most of the members seem uninterested in speaking to newcomers (comparatively, the members at Westwood Unitarian are almost too friendly toward newcomers). Despite this, I have never felt unwelcome, and I suspect that I will start to get to know people better as I start to participate in some church activities outside of the regular Sunday services.

Unitarian Universalism is a free-thinking religion, and all are welcome, both believers and non-believers (many UUs are atheists, in fact). If you're looking for an open-minded and accepting church, this may be the place for you.

This is a very nice Unitarian Universalist Congregation.  It's very welcoming and in an understated and genuine way.  And the pedantic psychobabble factor that you sometimes find in some Bay Area congregations was almost non-existent.  It was almost like I was back in the Midwest.  It felt like home.

At the time I was there, the Minister gave a great "drash" on the historical roots of Unitarianism and Universalism.  And we had a nice chat about it afterwards.  It left me with wanting to come back the next week and learn more.
