Review from Joyce D.
Burnaby, BC
Fell outside of work about a week and a half ago on slippery pavement while crossing Kingsway and suffered a separated shoulder because of it. After xrays and other tests it was recommended I do physio, massage and any other form of therapy for relaxation of the muscles as it is a long-lasting injury.
I have walked by Unihealth about a few hundred times and often thought about checking it out; well Friday was the day. If you are a first-timer you can choose between massage therapy or accupuncture combined with accupressure; I choose the later.
First off I have to say the gentleman who did the accupuncture was very knowledgable and had a calming nature. I recommend him highly. As for the accupuncture it felt like a mosquito bite each time the needle went in, about a dozen up my neck and shoulder. All in all the pain was tolerable, not too bad at all. The 1st treatment is a one-time cost of 20 dollars which was very good.
They have a yearly membership of 88 dollars for the year which gives you deep discounts on their various treatments including infared, deep tissue massage, accupuncture, reflexology and many others.
I didn't expect a miracle after only 1 treatment but overall was very pleased with my experience and will probably go back to try out the deep tissue massage. I did feel a little more relaxed but the pain came back the next day....such is life.
