This seemed like a cool place, but we were here late on Friday night and being the annoying American on his first night in Toronto and drinking a shitload of beers and realizing how superior Canadian beer is to its American counterparts - even though I'm a huge fan of Anglo-Irish imports - I was a bit shithouse and left early. It seemed like a bit of a sausage factory, not many chicks, though the girls that were here were young and hot - making me feel like a fat old man. Thanks.
The decor reminds me of Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag from the Simpsons with all sorts of crazy crap on the walls, as well as bras hanging from the ceiling. Interesting.
Also the doorman lived for a spell in West Paterson, NJ. Nice guy. I swear. -

Not bad. Was a fun crowd on St. Patty's day. Live music was ok, too. The bathroom was FILTHY like most dive bars. Tall boys were $5. WIN. Big fan of cheap beer, especially in Toronto. Girls were cute and friendly. I would come here again.

Sometimes low expectations are where it's at.
Probably not worth the 4 stars for everyone but i've only ever had good times here.
This is kind of the strangest divey bar - a bit of anachronism on King West.
I stumbled to this bar more than a few times not even knowing it was the same place until I saw the less than awesome decor. The people were a strange mix of college kids, hostel kids (there's one right across the street) and cruisers with popped collars. and the music isn't all that danceable (aka pop) with sort of a rock-ish tilt to it. WHY the four stars? I don't know, to tell you the truth. partly because I've never had a bad time here and partly beacuse I feel I need to bring the avg up.
True that the bottom bar pales in comparison tot he top dance area. So try not to end up at the bottom bar. You might end up giving this place a 2/5 yourself if you do.
This ain't as bad as you think it is. This TYPE of bar almost reminds of croc rock- it's kind of the place you end up at even though you try hard to be creative and try someplace different. and by the end of the night you wonder why you didnt' want to end up there in the first place because you actualyl had a kickass time.
Also similar to croc rock- don't expect a good time and you will inevitably have a good time. -

FUN FUN FUN for the entire Family.
In regards to Amanda D's review that may have been true at that time? I have no idea but I only starting going there this past couple months and have always had fun.
It's usually an even ratio of sausage to chicks; other times it does lean more towards dudes. Music is always enjoyable with the popular alternative playlist.
What's with the hanging bras and polaroids of flashers? Nice touch to enhance the 'scummyness' of the decor...
Why only 3 stars? THE DOWNSTAIRS SUCKS BALLS. One time it was too full upstairs and they confined people to the basement dungeon downstairs??? -

This place looks like a pothead's amped up basement. It's dark with lighting provided by Christmas lights, coloured stage lights and a disco ball. The walls are plastered with posters and flags and the ceiling is decorated with bras, panties and more flags. The beer is cheap and they have a full bar. This place is a dark dive with an atmosphere I dug when I came downstairs, even though no one else was there at that point. However, once people started filing in, the clientèle wasn't entirely what I expected. It was mainly 30-something young professional men with a lot of drunken aggression towards women who aren't interested in them.
Which brings me to my most important point: my friend and I had one of our scariest bar experiences at this place. Hardly any girls came to this bar, except a couple who were escorted by their boyfriends. This left my friend and I as the only girls in a bar with a sign outside that boasts "Sexy Girls!!" My friend and I weren't bitches or teases to the six men from separate groups who constantly harassed us, unsettlingly stared us down and tirelessly tried to buy us drinks. When we refused to let them buy us drinks, they harassed us about letting them get us water. Uh, roofie alert, anyone?? There are a number of other red flag proposals and encounters that I won't go into that somehow all took place within the hour we were here. I will warn that the girl's bathroom is at the end of a long hall with an open main door to the bathroom and stalls with the locks removed...
Regardless, none of the staff did anything except one who semi-apologetically thanked us for coming when we hurriedly left after we gave one guy who harassed us and left proper time to leave in case he was waiting outside.
Perhaps this was an isolated incident, but we received this aggressive treatment from so many of the male patrons (including one who yelled and one who didn't say anything but stare at us and shake our hands like a psycho), it seems unlikely that it's just a coincidence. I wouldn't recommend this bar to girls going out with their girlfriends, unless you're looking for a bad hook-up. This bar is sleazy. I will never go back.
