Healthy burger?..Maybe an oxy moron...All I know is they got some delicious gourmet burgers.
This house-turned-into-burger joint is a clean restaurant, with simple décor. After you order you get an action figure that will be your table order #. I had Megamind...Went with the Donald which has an omega-3 egg, mushroom, balsalmic onions, cheddar, and veggies...and I added some bacon, just in case it was too healthy. Which happened to be a good idea, since the beef was a leaner. A little messy with the runny egg, but very creative tasty burger with cool flavors with the shiraz dressing and hint of truffle oil...The yam fries were battered and super good. Light and sweet. I would definitely come back. -

On vacation in Winnipeg, made a stop here on a recommendation from a friend. I was not disappointed! Had a Blue & Gold, the flavors of chipotle and blue cheese along with the fresh vegetables and lean ground beef blended well and made for one delicious burger. The fries were also nice and thick with just enough crunch. I would definitely go back!
The only drawback is that the burgers are on the smaller side. -

The burgers were great and I loved the comic character table numbers but there were no pickles. Burgers need pickles.

I've been looking forward to trying this place for sometime since I love burgers. Well, I never had luck with this place because whenever I came by they were closed. Their initial hours were misleading about being open on Sundays - which they are not...lesson learned after a few failed visits. But I am glad I persisted because I really like this place - I've already stopped by a couple of times already.
This place is located next to Segovia, my favourite restaurant in the city, on Stradbrook. It's in the former Korean eater "Right There" location, a small house that they have transformed into an ultra bright and modern decor. The brightness is almost blinding inside - everything is super clean and minimalistic. I love the sleek little coke fridge that houses the classic glass coke bottles. There's even a little bottle cap remover that's mounted on the wall by the fridge where you can open up your pop and the pail catches all the little caps. You place your order and receive a toy figurine and find a seat. There is a bit of a wait because it's not "fast food" in that sense as they are cooking real food to order.
The menu offers regular fries ($3) and sweet potato fries ($4) - there's only one size and it's a decent single portion, akin to a medium size. The fries are thick cut, not my fave as I prefer shoe string but they are still delicious as they are crispy and tossed in sea salt for regular fries and curry sea salt for the yam fries. The yam fries were good and tasted like they were made on site vs processed ones. There are a few made in-house dipping sauces like honey dill, chipotle aioli etc for $1 each. The yam fries comes with a rosemary garlic aioli sauce which was decent and not too overpowering. The honey dill was balanced without tasting overly sweet. The burgers are all about $7-$8 offering a portabello mushroom burger, chicken burger, and various lean beef burgers. They also serve asian coleslaw and the enticing "Hal Johnson and Joanne McLeod energy salad" - anyone who remembers those commercials would be curious too! Their burgers are 100% lean, never frozen and always sourced locally in Manitoba. They even have a liquor license (nice touch) - a couple of reds and whites along with Alexander Keiths on tap.
I tried their "blue and gold" (choice of multigrain or ciabatta bun), I opted for the ciabatta. Despite not loving blue cheese, I really enjoyed it because the blue cheese wasn't overpowering. Granted, I think if you hate blue cheese, you should get the bacon and cheddar burger instead. The blue and gold is a beef burger topped with mixed greens, tomatoes, blue cheese, carmelized balsamic onions and aioli. The burger flavours were quite delicious and balanced. It's not the juicy fatty burger that one might be used to as this place leans more to healthy gourmet style burgers. The ciabatta bun is soft and not too chewy. The portion isn't massive but any means but ordering some fries or other sides should be enough to complete a meal.
The "Shanghai" is a chicken burger - grilled chicken breast topped with an asian slaw and a chili mayo. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The asian slaw is probably the best component as it has a nice tang to the julienned carrots, red onions, bean sprouts, and edamame. The burger has a great "light" feel to it with a subtle pep from the chili mayo.
Service is friendly and the guys seem to all be friends and enjoy chatting the customers. It has a nice down to earth vibe and the staff seem to enjoy feedback. This place seems to still be operating under a soft opening as the menu is still just a sample of the full scale menu they will unleash later on. I've tried many eateries around the city during their soft openings and were disappointed. But from what seems to be a first time venture for the owner(s), it feels like the beginning of a great thing with minor misses.
I'll definitely be coming back because I'll feel less guilty about eating here when I am craving a burger. But I think some people might not enjoy their beef burger as much because they expect a greasy burger. Just remember that this place has a fun but healthy bent to their concept.
