I love u-grill. I go here 75% of the time when I don't bring a lunch to work. You choose the fresh stuff you want, they cook it, and you choose your sauce. People say it's a tad expensive but let me say that you pay for weight of your meal.
Some things weigh more than others - derp. I've seen people mass broccoli & udon noodles, erm, NOOBLES. DERP. $15 bucks later they are making derp faces at the cashier.
My strategy is stick to the variety. The cooks probably make fun of me when I pick two pieces of each vegetable and a palm full of chicken. My normal cost is $7.50-$8 after tax. Plus they give you free rice which is great. You'll get a free small drink if you have the metrocard too. I believe $8 which is fair considering everything else in the food court is ~$7. Buck up and get something healthy/fresh and avoid mall-food-sickness.
Protip: Try to avoid the 12:30-1:30 PM massive line-up. -

Although I go to the food court at Metrotown often, I have never tried U-Grill before. At peast that was the case until today! Food was absurdly flavour-less, grossly overpriced and long line ups so you're guaranteed to wait. It was my first and last time to go here!
The Teriyaki sauce is their only way of adding any flavour to their food and it is like a sugar bath, no real flavour to it!
Plus they have this OCD woman behind the counter who is CONSTANTLY tidying the raw items and she's always getting in the way of the customer picking items. It's very annoying to say the least.
And another issue I have with this place is that pieces of other peoples food end up on your plate because they are sharing one small grill to cook everyone's food on so orders get mixed inevitably!
I do not recommend this place at all, there are better choices at the food court in Metrotown. -

I wish this place was a little cheaper, but I am definitely satisfied.
They have a variety of vegetables, seafood, and meat to choose from-you can't go wrong!
They use very little oil to cook the food and it is so delicious and I always feel better for choosing my veggies over some of the other unhealthy metrotown choices!
Favorite Meat: Spicy Pork
Favorite Sauces: garlic and teriyaki. -

I like U grill, I like it a lot. People say it's over priced? Well it's your own dang fault you couldn't resist all the delicious choices you are given by the raw buffet of goodness! In case you don't know U grill lets you choose what you want to stir fry and then weighs it out to determine the price, then you choose your sauce as they grill it up right in front of you and they throw it on rice. If you can show a little restraint your meal can be very reasonably priced. It's hard to show restraint though with all that zucchini, broccoli, carrots, pork, beef, chicken, baby corn, water chestnut, tofu, pollack, chow mein, shrimp, bok choi and MORE calling your name. I love the chili sauce and who could say no to free rice?
