Not really a 5 star place but I think it'll even out with the rest of the votes.
Their desserts are 5 star for sure.
The dinner was 4-5 stars.
Service was good.
The space is okay. Nothing bad but nothing to mention.
Blue fork deal.... arg danger!
I nipped in for dinner last week; having a bit of an early dinner it was quiet when I arrived. My sister urged me to get the blue fork deal, she was. Consider my rubber arm twisted!
I decided to start with the grilled asparagus. I usually dislike asparagus. But my gosh their is amazing. I think it's the cheese basil boccocini which got me. Pure amazingness.
For my entree I did the a salad, which was good... but I'm not a huge salad person these days.
I finished with the creme brulee which I basically inhaled although I was stuffed from everything else.
Service was awesome, I liked the decor, and I had good dining company. I would definately make my way back based on the asparagus (they altered my reality with that one) and the creme brulee!
Fabulous breakfast! Great value at $11 per entree. HUGE helpings. Fresh, well executed. Comfortable, cozy environment. Get there when it opens or you will wait on a weekend.
Frittata - Brie, potato & bacon. There must have been 3-4 eggs in it. Very tasty. Served with a side salad of greens.
Banana Stuffed French Toast - done with brioche. Very good, but the brioche was so thick that when you get through the banana part it's less impressive. But still very enjoyable & worth ordering.
Baked Eggs & Gruyere - OMG. To DIE for egg dish. Lots of sides reminiscent of an English breakfast: hashbrown (mmmm!), house baked beans, roasted tomato, sourdough toast with house jam.
Can't imagine you being disappointed!
Every time I come to this restaurant I have exceptional service and wicked food!
Definitely a diamond in the rough of Granville street.
The artwork inside is unique and the demeanour of the staff is always welcoming.
I love it here! From the minute we walked in, our waitress was a sweetheart! Our brunch experience at Twisted Fork couldn't have been any better. I wanted a Caesar, but the Twisted Fork Version was called a Brutus($8) made with Dijon and Dill, garnished with their own homemade pickled Brussel Sprouts and Asparagus. We all know how the story goes and although the Brutus was quite tasty and boozy, he didn't win this battle. However, the Prosciutto Benny($11) on Toasted Brioche has conquered the Benny competitors hands down! The Hollandaise Sauce was thick, creamy and delicious, just how it should be. The Brioche was fresh with a tender crumb, a great alternative to an English Muffin. The Prosciutto *wipes drools from face and continues to type* was very plentiful and added just the right amount of extra saltiness to the already perfect Hollandaise Sauce. Accompanied by some Sauteed Spinach, Rosti(Shredded Potato Pancake), and Baked Beans, you will be stuffed and satisfied after this meal! Get there early or prepare for a wait. Either way it will be worth it! Twisted Fork even sells their own homemade Preserves, check them out on the wall at the back of the restaurant.

All the hipsters flock to this place and have moved Twisted Fork to the top of the hot Yelp list. Hipster I am not, hippo maybe... but not hipster. But sure enough, the coolness meter has proven right this time as this has to be the best meal we had in our brief Vancouver sojourn, hands down. We had tried the more granny-friendly Seasons in the Park and that novelty on a bun, Japa Dog, but this dining experience stands out for the knockout brunch menu.
Jamie W. and I came here on a Sunday morning and surprisingly, only had to wait about five minutes before we were seated semi-privately in the back next to two young, mixed-race guys who were obviously on their first date. They made us feel like the old Russian Jewish couple in "Fiddler on the Roof". "Is this the little girl I carried? Oy! Is this the little boy at play? Oy!" Anyhow, once I took my teeth out of the water glass, we were cajoled by the obviously neophyte waitress to try the C$3.50 Asiago Scones. Deliciously homemade, especially with the little mug of whipped cream and blackberry preserves (see photo).
All brunch entrees are C$11, an excellent deal for the portions served. Jamie went for the Bacon and Brie Frittata, a healthy serving, souffle-light and not too eggy, with plum tomatoes, fresh oregano and shredded collard greens with a sweet corn relish on the side (see photo). Tasty and savory. However, I ordered the true winner, the Eggs Benny, a couple of poached eggs sitting on a toasted slice of buttery brioche with a pile of crispy bacon and sauteed spinach. On the side were a ramekin of baked beans and a wedge of rosti, or Swiss-style hash browns (see photo). That was ridiculously good.
Rounding out the meal was a generous beaker of French press coffee that I couldn't possibly finish on my own unless I was planning to jump over the Capilano Suspension Bridge later. If I was a resident of Vancouver, I would dye my hair purple, so I could feel like I belong in this place. But alas, you could stick a tourist sticker on my forehead and put me in over-sized Bermuda shorts, and I would still show up here. Hipsters beware. The L-7's will be back in town again!
FOOD - 5 stars...amazing eggs benny, the fixings are what make the plates here
AMBIANCE - 4 stars...typically tight urban squeeze but enough room for our bellies
SERVICE - 4 stars...enthusiastic and a little wet behind the ears
TOTAL - 5 stars...the C$11 brunches are hard to ignore in any town

We are taking a 3 day weekend in Vancouver this weekend and stumbled across this restaurant (through Yelp). Sooooo glad we did.....this place was awesome!
Service - outstanding
Food - outstanding
Atmosphere - outstanding
The attention to detail was amazing....they worked the "twisted fork" logo pattern in to the powder sugar sprinkle on the plate of the dessert for example.
We were totally impressed by this place. Not one negative comment can I think of. It was a teeny bit pricey, but well worth it!
So glad we went here! We drove up to Vancouver from Seattle and stopped here first. The place clearly gets packed, so you might have to wait a bit, but we managed to get seated quickly. They don't really seat you . . . kind of sort of not really . . .
The brunch items are all $11, unless you decide to add stuff. But, with the choices they have, I think there is enough food to keep you satisfied as is. If you think there aren't enough options, then go look for an Ihop or Denny's, or something like that. I got the eggs benny with smoked salmon (looooooooooooooooved it with the brioche and runny eggs . . . omg) and my SO got the scrambled eggs and asparagus. Plenty of sides with the dishes--his had blackberry jam with buttered bread that he said didn't need to be buttered. They make all of the jams on site, and it certainly tasted fresh! Great food, friendly staff, and we managed to roll ourselves (big portions!!) out of there with a happy start to our trip.
Bad parts? I wish it was a little brighter and a little bigger, but I guess the darkness helps with the numerous customers who came with hangovers. ;-)
Now we are talking. Oh the quest for the ultimate breakfast place is now complete.
Got in sharp at ten and were seated fast....loved the bottomless French press coffee. We were waiting for some friends and ended up ordering the Cheese Scones with the coffee ---- had my meal ended there I would have been happy - scones had the perfect hint of Asiago and the homemade jam (available for purchase) was delectable.
I ordered the baked eggs - these were to die for - not scrambled and laden with cheese - this dish is pure Genius. Loved the bread it came with too.
The others ordered the banana French toast and wow - as good as it gets.
I have to make sure to come back often to taste everything here. The price $11/dish was perfect, and the service was terrific.
I have probably put on three pounds just writing this review....but it is so worth it.
We had brunch here a couple of weeks ago, when we first arrived in Vancouver. We were sucked in by the tasty looking menu and the $11-for-everything price. Turned out to be a good decision!
Having eaten a lot of junk over the previous few days, I opted for the fruit salad and asiago scones. Matt ordered the eggs benny. The food arrived within about 15 minutes and oh. my. god.
OK, so it's hard to rant about a fruit salad, but this was some seriously good fruit. Strawberries, cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew melon and orange with fresh mint and yogurt. The asiago scones were obviously very freshly baked, and were fantastic with the whipped butter and jam.
The eggs benny were next level. A huge breakfast with plenty of bacon and good hollondaise, Matt proclaimed this to be the best eggs benny he's ever had (and he's had a lot).
Service was also fantastic - the waitress was attentive and a bit flirty, but not overbearing.
Definitely our new favourite brunch spot. Very keen to go back and try the dinner menu one night.
4.5 stars.
I had time to wait this past weekend for a nice brunch with a friend. I can see why there's always a line-up here on weekends!
All brunch items are $11 and portions are huge. Add a lovely french press coffee or juice for $3 and you're set until dinner! I had a hard time deciding but picked a smoked salmon benny. YUMMY! Neat twist that they serve it on bread/brioche rather than the usual english muffin. Beautifully poached egg with a runny centre, hollandaise sauce and nice bread underneath. Loved the hash brown too. The beans were an interesting touch - not my style for brunch, but still tasty.
Service is pretty fast and basic once you're at the table.
Can't wait to come back and try more brunch items! Dinner sounds interesting too from the reviews here. FYI, no Amex here.

Stopped by at this little french place on our way out of town from Vancouver and it was incredible!
The decor is so chic and french, the food is to die for, the service was excellent, and the prices for brunch were extremely reasonable.
You have to try the french press coffee! And we also tried the eggs benny with tomatoes and banana stuffed french toast. It is loads of food so hope you are hungry.
Next time we are in Vancouver, we will definitely be back!
We came on a Sunday afternoon around 1ish during my short vacation to Vancouver. There was a small wait, of course. We weren't in a rush and judging by the Yelp reviews I had a feeling it was going to be worth it. I'm glad we did. We were seated in the back near the kitchen. Great ambiance, very low key and relaxed. Our waiter was a trip. The food was fantastic. I don't think I have a single bad thing to say about the place. The other yelp reviewers were on point. This might be the first place I'd return to the next time I'm in Vancouver. I take brunch very seriously since it's one of my favorite meals ever. Fresh ingredients. Homemade jam. Fresh bread. I support all places that use organic, cage free, free range meats & eggs.
I had: Asparagus scrambled eggs served with toasted sourdough & homemade jam, roasted roma tomatoes, rosti & sauteed spinach. It was simple and fresh. The eggs were perfectly cooked. The rosti was salty and fried deliciousness that complimented the eggs perfectly. The jam was outstanding. I should have bought a jar.
The Boy had Eggs Benny with toasted brioche, poached eggs, hollandaise and served with sauteed spinach, rosti and baked beans w/ smoked salmon. It was fantastic. The baked beans were obviously homemade. The hollandaise was spectacular.
Our friend had: Bacon & brie frittata (he spied this on the way to our seat & it was love at first sight for him) served with fresh greens & sweet corn relish. It was delicious & a monstrosity. I didn't try it because of the bacon but it looked great.
I had the french press coffee pot. Yes, just me alone. I think I made it of the way through. We were there for awhile, me buzzing on a caffeine high, talking about life and politics. The coffee was not just large but it was the smoothest french press I've ever had.
We left very happy. Great prices for such huge portions. Great ambiance. Just can't say enough good things about this place. What a great experience!

I was all rightly twisted with satisfaction after my Canada Day breakfast here.. Get The Fork Over Here
I cant get over how nice and accommodating the severs are.... But wait what about the food..
Yes Yes Yes ... I will have what she is having... Eggs Benny on toasted Brioche and red peppers Oh Ya
The Fork really isnt twisted, it was nice and easy to eat with. I am back real soon for a dinner or lunch and more menu surfing.
Background: I'm familiar with most of the brunch go-to spots in Vancouver.
Food: Bacon brie frittata just killed me. It was savoury tart and rich all at the same time. My friend's banana-stuffed french toast was pretty outstanding. The menu is tactfully written and makes you want to try every bitty thing on it. Raspberry sorbet chocolate cake with raspberry coulis made me want to touch myself. The mimosas were also good.
Ambiance: Sat at the bar, but could have easily scored a fuzzy intimate booth. This place is funky and the company is good.
Service: Our server Bridey is a star. She enthusiastically converses with the clientele and genuinely cares for people - she even checked on the crowd outside the door waiting for tables and chatted us up. This was the best part of our experience today.
Pricepoint: $25-30 a person for a thoroughly gorging brunch that can be followed by a nap on the beach.
Overall: If this place were a person or animal I'd marry it. The service is fantastic and really makes the difference because you know they're sincere.
Without any hesitation I can honestly say the Twisted Fork has the best brunch in Vancouver!
We have been there a few times now and have yet to be disappointed. The food is amazing, the service is excellent, and non-stop french press coffee? Unbelievable!
Everything on the brunch menu is just $11, which is more than a deal for the quality, and amount, of food that you're getting. And did I mention the coffee? Oh my, the coffee.
I strongly recommend the Prosciutto Benny with toasted brioche, you won't be let down, and you won't be hungry when you're finished.
They are quickly becoming more and more popular, so come early or be prepared to wait. But if you do find yourself standing in line, it is more then worth it.

So many Yelpers giving 2 thumbs to this place...for a very good reason. The service is cheery (think bright, shiny people serving your brunch), the atmosphere is sophisticated without being pretentious, the food was superb and the best part, bottomless French press coffee. We got an eggs benny with smoked salmon (and holy crap they give you a lot of the salmon) and it came with a side of rosti (basically the Swiss-German version of latkes), sauteed spinach and baked beans sitting on top of a brioche. For such a "heavy" breakfast item, we surprisingly felt light and healthy after, or it could be because we were already lightheaded from our caffeine overdose. We also got the banana stuffed brioche and the bacon and brie fritata, both of which were to kill for (just a figure of speech here). Our bill came to $40.47 which was pretty darn good for an awesome brunch. Ok, actually it would have been cheaper had I not succumbed to the chocolate raspberry terrine for dessert. It's the kind of dessert that you dream about the night before then savor the next day. Very good.
Definitely worth going to again and again. And eons better than Cafe Medina (the second highest rated breakfast place in Vancouver; I have been twice and both times it failed to impress).
Twisted Fork. The name is almost misleading.
Twisted is synonymous with evil, or odd. Fork is synonymous with the object that is glued to my hand or the devil's pitchfork. All of these twisted words, yet there's nothing evil about this place- save for the fact that everything is SINFULLY AH-mazing!
As soon as I saw the sign that screamed, "Breakfast will not be served on Fridays, as well" on the front counter, I jumped for joy- it may have been a bit scary for the staff behind the counter, but please... take it as a compliment.
Did you know: that they make their own bread? You can't get fresher than that, Vancouverites. Given that this is a French bistro, their pain is used as a substitute for all toasts and muffins; I found this French Bread to be a nice little twist (pun intended) on all of their dishes.
Their eggs are the most orange yolks that I have ever seen and their French Toast was so mouth-wateringly massive that even my galfriend and I couldn't finish the mountain of goodness- yum to the max.
Not only is this gem worth waiting for in the early morning and in the midst of cold Vancouver streets, it's also worth waiting for in the late evening- also... in the cold Vancouver streets. Be forewarned that if you want to eat here, you should line-up as early as possible.
I sincerely appreciated the chefs making adjustments to my dietary needs of being unable to consume any white vino in any of my dishes- merci tres beacoup!
I only wish that this French empire could expand and perhaps conquer a greater dining hall to fit all of their loyal eaters.
Recommended Breakfast Dish: the Eggs Benny and the French Toast; share both for they are both must-eats.
Recommended Dinner Dish: the Mussels. I cannot convey to you how amazingly good they are AND I believe they're on special on certain days (Tuesdays, I believe?).
Score: C'est tres, tres bon. Je t'aime, Twisted Fork. Ah plus!
You'd better get to this restaurant before the world finds out about it. This bistro is owned by a brother and sister and they have one hell of a great team. The food is rich and delicious, certainly a French touch to the ingredients. Service second to none and they know their wine list. Speaking of wine, wow, its fairly priced with special "bottle" prices on Monday's and if you enjoy Scotch, they have a complete list, also fairly priced.
The establishment is not large, thus no reservations and they open at 6PM daily.
Don't get fussed about the area, its a little gritty, however, the area is being cleaned up and the Downtown Ambassadors, (in Red outfits) are there to assist. I will go back to this gem and so should you.
Way to go guys another hit. Such a small space and it took off, tjhe best thing is that other restauranteurs in the city said it wouldnt make it, we'll heres to the big FU and to the lineups for the amazing brunches you serve before you even open on the weekends. My favorite small spot on granville you have to check it out
5 stars all the way! We were very impressed with this place - finally feeling welcome amidst some of grungier, dumpy places on this street! We started out with some fun drinks (I think I had a Flortini?or something to that effect) and you have to love the bread and butter. For dinner I had cured duck breast with whip (not whipped, whip) potatoes, PERFECT green beans, and a cherry sauce. I snuck one of my honey's brussel sprouts cooked with bacon and it was divine. His steak was cooked perfectly as well. Our waitress was so warm and inviting - if I lived in this area I would be back again and again and again and again.........
Can I live here? Just tuck me into one of the cozy corners and I'll happily munch on brioche until I curl up and sleep one of those lovely food induced comas.
After being stuffed so silly by a dinner that filled me to the gills last week, I didn't get a chance to indulge in dessert. Mushroom soup followed by mussels with the most incredible cream sauce I've ever tasted, mixed fries, and bread. I am ashamed and proud to say I soaked every last drop into the bread... and still contemplated dessert.
Then, a massive brunch for all of $11. Yes, all the mains are $11. Hard choices between banana stuffed brioche french toast, baked eggs and bennys with your choice of filling. I opted for the benny and was delighted with my slightly undercooked egg, the creamy hollandaise and of course, brioche. I'm not that fussy about baked beans, but I think it's an interesting choice for those who dig it.
Again, my dessert plan was thwarted by too much goodness and bottomless french pressed coffee. One of these times, I'll just go in for Caramel Napolean so I can understand the food orgasm others have yelped about.

Well I don't want to sound like I'm just agreeing with everybody about the Twisted Fork....but this place is really amazing!!!!!!
Lolita and I had dinner there last night and we had an awesome time.
We arrived at 5:45pm (15min prior to the evening opening) and they let us in without batting an eyelash...no excuses that we were early or that they weren't ready yet, they just smiled and sat us up front at the window table!! I love being able to people watch everywhere I go and this seat was perfect.
The artwork on the walls was brilliant, I loved the hanging door and the mirror behind the bar and the metal figurines were neat!!
Our server was all smiles and very friendly even though they had just finished a busy brunch a few hours earlier. She took our drink orders, I had the Canuck (mostly because I liked the name) but I really enjoyed it after I tasted it...I love martinis and Lolita just had water. Nice to not be snickered at when you just order water, our server was really kewl!!!
We decided to order 4 plates and share (see photos) and we were NOT disappointed at all.
Before our dinner arrived Lolita commented on how amazing the place was smelling....fresh bread baking is the best smell ever!!!!
And lo and behold, warm fresh buns arrived at our table with whipped brown butter. Now I LOVE whipped butter, remember my tag line..."fat is flavour"!! It was delicious!!!
For dinner we ordered:
The Venison carpaccio - delicious, thinly sliced venison accompanied by mushrooms, rocket and a crispy polenta slice.
The Grilled Asparagus - beautifully presented on a wooden board with mushrooms and bocconcini cheese. The olive oil and balsamic reduction swirl was artistically executed and delicious to dip the warm bread into.
The Halibut cakes - served with the most yummy red pepper puree!!
and finally,
The Crepe Torte - my personal favorite!! Lasagna style layered veggies in a devine cream sauce!! I will definitely order this again.
The whole experience was excellent and I will soooo be going back there again!!
The portion sizes were hearty and I had absolutely no room for dessert but their dessert menu looked fabulous!!! I will definitely leave room next time.
As a side note, take a look at the wall across from the bathrooms (see photo) because they have a beautiful display of jarred and pickled items!! Some of which are for sale I believe!
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm still keeping the 4 stars even though my dinner experience was only 3 star calibre yesterday night.
I had been so excited to try their early-bird dinner special, three course meal for $25 and while the overall experience was good, I was disappointed since breakfast was sooo amazing.
First of all when we walked in, both my friend and I were hit with the overpowering smell of searing lamb. It was actually quiet unpleasant. The smell of meat stayed with us the entire dinner. We were going for the blue fence dinner special, and I was surprised that you could only choose from two of the dinners from their entire menu. My friend asked if she could have another choice because of dietary restrictions and they said it would be an extra $5. I was disappointed that they weren't more accommodating.
I was expecting more from my halibut which was a only ok. The asparagus was so overcooked they were shrivelled beyond recognition, the halibut a bit over done, and the potatoes were also so overcooked I actually wasn't even sure if they were potatoes. I skipped the potatoes and loved ever bit of the homemade bread they serve. In fact, I thought about the ball of doughy bread all day today! My friend did not have the blue fence menu and had the chicken stuffed with brie (how can you go wrong with that?!). She said she enjoyed her dinner.
Dessert made up for any misfortunes of my dinner. The flourless chocolate cake was a definite 5 start treat!
Even after my 3 star dinner, I can't wait to go back for breakfast and looking forward to trying the mussels and a LOT of the homemade bread!

I went here two times in one week - once to try the the mussels special on Tuesday and again on the weekend to try the brunch. This place is becoming a fast favourite! I came on Tuesday after an evening run thinking I'd be able to polish off a whole plate of mussels on my own, but the cream sauce was so rich I had to split with my husband. I loved that they used a mix of sweet potato, parsnip and regular fries.
We also ordered the tomato salad, which was amazing - the grilled tomatoes were juicy & sweet, the shallots were sweet and flavourful, and the basil dressing was amazing - I wish there was more on the plate to go around!
In the end I was so full, but then was handed a dessert menu... While sitting there debating between the different desserts, I looked up to see what was being plated, and the chef behind the kitchen said "get the caramel napoleon". And that's just what we did! It was absolutely delicious, I love different textures in my food - and there was such a wonderful blend of crunchiness and creaminess I was in bliss!
The brunch is equally amazing, I got the banana brioche french toast after reading all the reviews here and while it was a little more burnt that I'd like, it was a great way to start the morning! The husband got the smoked salmon benny, and with all that smoked salmon for $11, it certainly looked to be the best deal on the menu. We'll definitely be going back again soon!
OMG i had the eggs benny with chorizo and my girl had the asparagus eggs with a twisted Mary. the eggs benny was the best i ever had hands down ! and the twisted Mary was amazing .
I WILL GO BACK MANY MANY TIMES
Read the reviews, so I decided to check it out while in town.
Had the bacon & brie frittata and was pretty happy with it. I liked the corn that came with it. It added a nice element to the dish, but the frittata itself could have been more flavorful.
My friends had the banana stuffed french toast and that was pretty darn good. Couldn't believe how much butter it came with! I must say, the portions are huge, especially for the price. All in all, we were very pleased. I think I'd come back and see what the other menu items are like.
Went to brunch this morning and holy good lord in heaven it was phenomenal and CHEAP.
The banana brioche french toast was to die for (see photos). My friend ordered the baked gruyere eggs and they looked delicious as well. There isn't much more I can add to what's already been written. All brunch plates are $11 and for downtown, (anywhere really of this caliber) that's a great deal. The service was friendly and attentive (finally). I can;t wait to go back - I think we're going to try the $25 Sunday comfort food dinner.
4.3 twisted stars!
I finally got to experience Twisted Fork for myself. Having avoided it a few times due to line ups (my fault as I usually leave things to the last minute).
Thirsty?
A few worthy beers on tap. I had 2 pints of the Blue Buck. Seriously smooth.
Hungry?
Probably the best mussels (sauce) I have ever had. It is drinkable! So... I did.
Flank steak was less impressive. I prefer better cuts. But the baked beans were very unique and the brie on the steak was an interesting touch.
All in all a damn fine meal. Full of different flavours and ingredients I wouldn't normally mix.
My only regret was not being able to try the Carmel Napolean dessert Raymond raves about.
So, I shall return for a late night drink and dessert.

Great brunch, just like last time.
Had brunch with a friend from Seattle today and I suggested Twisted Fork. Definitely did not disappoint with the frittata and mimosas!

I had a delicious brunch at Twisted Fork this weekend! I have heard a lot of great things about this place and was excited to finally check it out. My pal and I split the baked eggs and a smoked salmon benny. Both were delicious and came with scrumptious unexpected sides like baked beans and steamed spinach. French pressed coffee was also a nice touch.
I loved the cozy bistro atmosphere and will definitely be back to try their mussel special. A whole pound for $8?! Can't go wrong with that!
Love the cocktails, and appies. Have only eaten dinner here once and it was pretty good, but not excellent.
What IS excellent are the desserts! A rotating special Crème Brulé and other tasty treats are our main reason for making the trek to Granville street.
We once had an Anise flavored crème brulé that was amazing, with just a hint of creamy licorice. Also, I'm a huge fan of citrus so just had to try the in house made lemon tart. It had a firm shortbread crust the filling was a perfect balance of sweet and sour and was served with candied orange peel that had been hollowed and stuffed with sour cream ice cream and re frozen and sliced like an orange wedge. It was an added decadence that made the tart go from tasty to stellar.
Really, sour cream ice cream. So decadent it should be outlawed. Mmmmmm......
After reading the other reviews, it has become apparent that I'm going to have to come for brunch....and soon! Can't wait to try it out!
If I have one major criticism it's that they are one of those places that hire for the "looks" in their female staff members. I feel like a broken record because I say it in a lot of my reviews BUT of the 4 times I've been there I've only gotten good service once. One very sweet girl was so out of it that the chef in the open kitchen had to remind her twice that our food was ready, even though it wasn't busy and she had walked past it several times. Clueless.
Twisted Fork is further south than I usually venture on Granville, but after reading so many fantastic reviews here, I just had to try it out. We decided to try it out on a date night, so we got ourselves fancied up and headed out.
We were greeted with an incredibly warm smile and an extremely friendly server, who continued to be an absolute delight all evening. We opted to sit in the window; the seats were comfy and we got a great view of passers-by on the street.
The clientele is really mixed, meaning we didn't feel out of place dressed up nicely, but I also wouldn't think twice about going in in regular clothes. The decor is beautiful, and the walls are laden with very interesting art; I could just have stared at the walls all night!
I dithered over which wine to order, and our server once again was an absolute star; she recommended two to me, and even brought samples so I could decide. Both were absolutely delicious, and my boyfriend's beer was equally great!
We decided to get a three course meal between us, as neither of us can eat one to ourselves; we got the gruyere onion tart, which was ridiculously tasty, followed by the duck breast with rhubarb jam, ratatouille, creamed potatoes and seasonal veg; I can't explain this dish to you. It was phenomenal! Definitely the tastiest, most succulent duck I've ever had, and the flavours were extremely complementary. Oh and the bread! Whoever thought to make sourdough buns with browned butter needs a medal! We finished with the napoleon, and that I cannot explain; you HAVE to try it for yourselves! Their homemade ice cream is amazing, and everything together had us in a delirious food coma!
The portions aren't enormous, but they were more than sufficient for two people, so don't worry if they look small - you will be full by the end! I absolutely can't recommend this place enough; amazing food, fantastic service, and incredibly reasonable prices (we paid $70 for 4 drinks and 3 plates of food). Go! You will not regret it!
Go On Tuesdays for their $8 Mussels. I have to say that I saved room for this meal... and I could've shared one plate with my lovely friend I was catching up with.. but we were both starving so we each ordered the special.
We also got a beet and pear salad which, at regular price, I thought came in a rather smaller portion. I wish the beets had cooled because the salad was a little warm (I don't know if they plan to serve it that way). The decor is so cute... with one long banquette and tables of 2s and 4s. It is a little crowded as everytime the server spoke to the table next to us, you'd pretty much get someone's rear a foot away from you.
Service was friendly and informative, patient and not overbearing. The mussels came with fresh bread and a combination of yam fries and regular fries - what a lovely surprise. The plate of mussels were beyond massive. The plate /bowl it came in looked like an upside down sunday hat. The cream sauce was heavy, but in a good way. The bread was perfect for dipping as it soaked up the sauces as I savoured it in my mouth.
I ate every single mussel, and every single fry and couldn't walk or eat until lunch the next day.... but good conversation and good food can lead to great things (even if it means being full for a very very very long time).
I heard the main chef specializes in pastry.. if I had more room - I would've grabbed dessert for sure. They have $25 3 course meals with a glass wine / beer on Sundays.. definitely want to check it out!

What I love about brunch, is that you can struggle out of bed in the early afternoon and then quite acceptably still order breakfast fare without so much as the batter of an eyelid. This was me this Saturday at Twisted Fork.
I had a croque monsieur that may have taken a few years off my life. The bricohe was so bursting full of buttery goodness and watching that melting Gruyere ooze forth from my heart attack sandwich was too much to bear, so I devoured it quickly to put it out of its misery.
I am heading back soon for some more encounters with brioche, this time of the banana stuffed variety...oh yeah

Wow,
I'm impressed. I find Vancouver so overpriced for fine food, and I usually end up frustrated after my tiny not so amazing crazy expensive dinner.
But Twisted Fork is not like that, and I'm so glad I gave it a shot.
We went for dinner tonight and everything was perfect:
- Super friendly staff
- Relaxed atmosphere, cozy seating
- Good music
- Awesome decor, love the wall of pickled fruits and vegs in the back on the way to the washrooms.
We had:
- The Grape Soda: very refreshing non alcoholic cocktail with grapefruit juice, mint, lemon juice. Not too sweet, just perfect!
- The Cheese Plate with pickled veggies, olives and spicy salami: The cheese was so creamy and delicious (just talking about it makes me want to have more!)
- The Tuna Tartar: My boyfriend ate this one and really liked it.
- The Beet and Pear Salad: Yum, my favorite dish! Warm roasted beet and pear on a bed of baby arugula, with goat cheese, VERY VERY good :)
- The Fernie Frites: A fries 'trio' with herb aioli. The aioli had a taste of dill, which I'm not too keen about, but it's just a matter of personal taste. The fries were good, although we could have done without them on the table and still be pretty full.
- And for dessert, the Profiteroles with fresh berries. YUM! The berries were totally amazing. Loved it!
Et voilà! I will definitely go back and am so glad to have finally found a place with good food reasonably priced.
The very first thing I noticed when I walked in the front door was how cozy it was. For example, I was greeted in a most friendly manner by the staff. Next, I noticed the inviting ambience and funky decor.
Most importantly was the food experience - the Twisted Fork Bistro has the best brunch I've ever had. The place is quite popular, so the day a friend and I were there, it was quite busy. The service was a little slow because it was so busy; however the food came out fast.
The following plates' presenations were also very creative and funky, as you'll read by the descriptions. Also, the portion sizes were very generous, perfect for sharing for smaller appetites. Particularly, the french toast.
I ordered the asparagus scrambled eggs served with toasted sourdough and housemade jam, roasted roma tomatoes, rosti and sauteed spinach. Very good.
My friend ordered Banana stuffed brioche french toast sprinkled with cinnamon and icing sugar and a side of maple syrup whipped cream. His dish was the most delictable french toast I've tasted.
The prices were very reasonable. The audibility of the conversation between my friend and I was easy although the place was packed.
Unless some other brunch place surpasses, TFB is my fave for brunch.
I really had high hopes when reading all the positive Yelp reviews of Twisted Fork. Our group of three had the perfect seat at the front window. Perfect to watch the slowly-building Friday night mayhem of Granville Street, and to catch up with each other in a comfy space. Nice decor, blending the old space's exposed ceilings with modern accents. Service was friendly and prompt. Be warned of the 'No parking after 10pm" signs outside on Granville street. We watched every car in sight promptly being towed away.
We decided to try several things on the menu. The ceviche, beet and goat cheese salad, sourdough toast, asparagus, halibut cakes, and I had the lamb shank as an entree. All in all a good sampling from the menu. I noticed that a few items were priced higher here than on the website, and I'm not a big fan of that. I ordered up a grape soda (grapefruit, mint, soda, simple syrup) to go with it. The drink was overwhelmingly minty, but the other drinks at the table were good. For each food item I tried, I realized that I've had a better version elsewhere in Vancouver, except for the sourdough toast (with pesto, tomatoes and goat cheese) , which stood out as my favourite. The other items in the small forks section were all quite small, and we all had to settle with a small taste of each.
The lamb shank was a bit fatty with the skin on, but the grilled polenta was excellent. I'm not excited to try Twisted Fork again for another dinner outing, but would like to try the brunch to see if that holds up to the hype.
I just went back for brunch! I had the Croque Monsieur which was so delicious and absolutely stuffed with ham and gruyere cheese. I was coveting my friend's banana-stuffed french toast with a shot glass of maple syrup and the hubby's eggs Benny looked scrumptious. If you're 10 people they'll take a reservation and the back table's a cozy place for a group. I had a cocktail called the Slinky Mink which is sparkling wine with raspberry puree and something else(??). I'll just have to go back and order another to recall that other ingredient.

I can't say anything but WOW. This place rocks. The service was wonderful, the people smile and are so kind.
The food... Well let me tell you about the food.
I go mostly for brunch, I haven't tried the dinner.
If you like coffee $3 for french press coffee that keeps coming back.
I do favor the Baked Bacon Brie Frittata, this will make you moan.
I always return to the Bacon Benny, and I will tell you they know how to make a Benny... when you slice into the egg, the yoke just melts all over the place.. SWEET!
The sides that come with the meals are so well done.
I will always go to this place, it is going to be my staple in Vancouver. It's a hidden gem, I don't want anyone to know about. I also want them to do well so I am writing about it.
The price did go up a bit during the games, but I don't care. On Sundays you might have a waiting time of 40 mins if you put your name in, and when standing out side they will call you.. I wish they had a patio instead of those ugly car parking spots in front on the sidewalk.
I am going to call in sick for work so I can try the muscles I think they are cheep on Tues? A pound of muscles... I will write about that when I have tried them.
Thanks
D
