Not sure what the buzz is about, with this place. Yeah, the coffee was ok, but the donuts were below average. At least, I've had much better at home, back in South Carolina. I had an old fashioned and an apple crunch. They were bland at best. Sorry, just don't see the draw for this place. Y'all want some good donuts, come down south.

Twin Donut is a gem at 157th Street. In world where mass produced donuts from DD are too readily available, it is nice to go to a donut shop in a neighborhood that is almost untouched by franchises and corporations (except for the always crowded and filthy McDonald's up the block).
The donuts are the best part of the place. My faves are the French Cruller, Honey Glazed and Toasted Coconut...amazing! I am also pretty sure that they make them in the back...which could be why they are so damn fresh!
The coffee is not bad at all...better than any of the sludge found at the bodegas in the neighborhood.
Not really the best place to hang out...but perfect for a grab and go breakfast/snack before getting on the 1 Train to go downtown.Listed in: Back when I lived in the…

Right next to the subway stop, and easy to hop in and out for a cheap bagel/coffee or donut.

TWIN Donuts is great! I have many friends and family visit me in the city and every time I have a full house I head to Twin Donuts to get breakfast for the whole crew, and they never let me down. Their breakfast sandwiches, sausage egg and cheese, bacon egg and cheese, are out of this world, and every one I know that has had the pleasure of sampling one agrees with me 100%, even my roommate who is from Japan. So grab one on your next breakfast outing.

Someone reminded me of doughnuts this weekend. What I remember of a doughnut is a fried bit of dough with lovely runny jam inside and a coating of sugar. When I bit into these they would often leak jam all over my t-shirt making my Mum furious. But in the land of the Dunkins' and the Crispies it's hard to find the real deal in the US which is something I'm disappointed in. I came to this country believing every cop was an expert who wouldn't put up with the stale specimens found behind the big corporate signs on every street. Maybe this was the sign of things to come for the US..? Where what you hold dear is slowly eroded away by big business. But wait before I reveal the secret Marxist in me let me mention a little capitalist venture named "Twin Donuts" that I came across a year ago but haven't been able to forget. I only came across it when I had to have a medical for visa purposes and had to venture into Washington Heights. Twin Donuts seems to be happy not to compete with the DunkinCrispies. If so their doughnut would not have been so good... and yes I did spill jelly down my front.
The other beauty of Twin Donuts is the graphic on their coffee cups is straight from the 50's. So I hope the NYPD support this last bastion of real doughnuts before it's too late.
BTW I had the donut after the medical.. I suggest anyone in the same situation as I was do the same ;-) -

I echo Tony's sentiment: this really is a gem. The donuts are yummy, \ the coffee is hot, and it's in the perfect location to watch for the M5 out the window or run down into the subway. Their breakfast food is good and so is the ice cream which is really cheap.
