Went on an actual date with JP this weekend. He took me to the Twilight Drive In. I had no idea that drive-in's still existed. Boy was I wrong! We arrived most of the way through the first movie of the triple feature as I had been doing volunteer work that kept me away until late.
Also - it's a hell of a drive for an urbanite like me so it took us a fair amount of time to get there.
The screen was massive and I was lucky enough to have attended on the last weekend they used 35 mm film so we were given commemorative film pieces. I figured I'd get something boring but I think they handpicked strips of film with action on them. We both got scenes from In Time which we had watched together a couple of weeks ago.
We only ended up getting popcorn at the concession but it was delicious and seemed a little bit lower priced than I usually pay at the Scotiabank Theatre.
Watching a movie at a high end theatre is definitely better quality but this theatre is all about the experience.
Listening to everyone honking at the appropriate times and watching old vintage concession ads between shows was so much fun and rather than being annoyed when someone steps over you to go to the bathroom or the concession midway through the show, it was fun and cute to see people walking in front of your car.
I would recommend this experience to everyone and now that it's digital, the picture and sound quality will be even better.
Thank you suburbs and JP :)

I LOVE LOVE love love love love love love love LOVE The Twilight Drive-in Theatre. It is the *best* part of my summers. I used to work in Aldergrove so we'd go on a Saturday night with a whole group, a pick up truck, and lots of pillows and blankets.

The parking stalls are separated by poles (which used to hold the speakers in the old days) but now you tune in on your car radio. There is separate over-height parking for SUVs, pick ups, minivans, and any other large vehicles. But really.... with a GIANT screen (92' by 40'), there is no real bad spot in the place.

Prices are approx. $11 for each adult, for double or triple features during the main season. You pay for entrance, per person, not per movie. Gates usually open about 45min. before show time and the first movie starts at dusk. The 3rd movie goes until 4am sometimes but you can leave at any time (just be respectful and don't turn on your lights).

Lawn chairs, air mattresses, foamies, pillows and blankets are all allowed as long as you only use your own space (in front of your vehicle). I always bring pajamas, a sleeping bag, slippers, and a pillow with me.

Twilight Drive-In plays *current* and new movies. The first movie is usually family-friendly and sometimes the 3rd movie is something already on DVD but usually isn't more than a couple years old. Just to name a few: I've seen Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3, Shrek 2, Toy Story 3, Iron Man, Transformers 1 & 2, Thor, Night at the Museum 2, Angels & Demons, Star Trek, Robin Hood, Killers, Repo Men, Indiana Jones (Crystal Skull).

    Don't forget to HONK: http://www.youtube.com...

Go back to your first ball park hot dog ...recall how salty and crunchy it tasted with all that sweet green relish and pungent ball park mustard...and the smell of the mystery meat cooked on a grill or a rotating steamer? Now....remember the Hillcrest drive-in?
It's gotten a new lease on life at theTwilight Drive-in.  I love eating anything  outdoors especially Twilight Drive-In's concession style fare. Home-made style burgers,...crispy salty fries, juicy jumbo corn dogs and once ya get an oily wiff of the onion rings in the deep fryer, you're already eating them in your mind. Wash it all down with a cold soda and some great movies in the famliar comfort of your car, all while dressed in your cozy flannel sleep pants... the best Jerry, the best!

Don't forget to honk when the weenie goes in the hot dog bun!
Best night out on a budget especially for families. Now go load up the woodgrained station wagon and enjoy !

    Happy Noshin',...

The Dogs,Hubby and I was just there last night, and had a fantastic time! Even though it rained off and on, it was just nice being in your own car, reclined back, adjust the volume to what you want,... and best thing is not having some idiot be kicking the back of your seat or talking all night long. And for $12.50/person what a deal to watch all the movies!! It was great that you can bring your dogs too! We always forget about the drive in, but now that summer is coming... i think we'll be going to it more often :)

Great place for a family night out :) fun first run movies. Good value for money.
Nothing better than backing up your truck, throwing in an airmattress and sleeping bag and watching the movie and the stars in the summer time.

Haven't been out to the drive-in a long while so late week the not so better half and I decided to head up there with the dogs to catch a couple of movies.

For $25 we were able to catch a couple of movies which normally would be the cost of one at a regular theatre.  We could bring our dogs and walk about with them before the different shows.  It just brought back the days of being my pjs with the parents and enjoying the family time.

The cost of food etc is about average for the theatre industry but this is where most places make their money for the overhead costs so it's kind of expected.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced, family adventure, this is the place to go.  I think a car load is $28.  Can't remember but there is a website you can check out.

This is one of my favorite summer night activities, but be prepared to be up LATE especially when they run a triple bill.
Prices are great and it has a great concession stand but his is not the place to go if you are on a diet...think pogos and poutine and onion rings OH MY!
Bathroom is super clean and everything is well maintained.
On the weekends, get there well before gates open in order to get a good spot.
The driven-in is pet friendly but the concession is NOT.  I have had one young extremely rude cashier at the concession but the manager dealt with it and was great.
I love this place and will certainly be back this summer!

It's quite the drive out to the Fraser Valley to get here, but so much fun. I love the idea of watching a movie in your car, as you are still having that collective experience, but nobody is bothering anyone else with cell phones, eating, or talking during the movie (or whatever else you get up to). It doesn't even seem to matter what the movie is.

They really play on the retro-kitsch value of the drive-in here... a somber short before the main show reminding us all what a rarity the drive-in has become, and shouldn't we support it by buying some snacks at the concession? Truly awful, generic music (I heard xylophones) plays before the show, but the sound comes from your car radio, so you can change the station if need be.

Between the shows, you might recognize the concession stand promoting film being played - it's the one that played in the background during the famous drive-in scene from Grease! Yeah!

Be sure to get there early on weekends - it's a big place, but it fills up. Bonus: cheap Fraser Valley gas prices.

This past Saturday I had the most perfect corn dog in I don't know how many years.  Not only was it the perfect corn dog, it was the perfect corn dog at the drive-in, which as we all know, is the most revered and wonderous thing.  Nothing could make a trip to the drive-in more perfect than the perfect corn dog, except for great movies, good parking, great sound, and those hilarious animated clips between the movies making it the ultimate date and/or family experience of course.

This place has that too. But back to those corn dogs.  Came out so hot, but not too hot to burn ones lips.  The batter was perfectly golden  and not too doughy on the inside.  The wiener inside was firm and tasty, not too salty or overly processed.  A quality dog.  Whomever deepfried this puppy knew what they were doing.  Slathered in mustard, I loved every second of it, and look Ma! no heartburn.  Experience of the decade.

The drive-in is great, it's a really good way to spend the evening, especially if you have kids. The concession food is pretty good, as well - but they do get a bit of a lineup. The movie price is great, especially if you're coming to see all three movies on the weekend. The only issue I've really found is with them having three movies I want to see all on the same night!

It's a great place to watch a movie, and the folks who run it are really dedicated. It's nice to see how well it's doing!

I love this place! I've been coming since high school. Its very far from my vancouver home but well worth the drive. 2 or 3 movies for the price of one! A big bonus is that they play big opening films during the summer, we always see harry potters/twilight saga films here because we don't have to line up with everyone at the cineplexs. The food is expensive and only okay. I defintiely recommend coming here, its a total experience! Almost forgot, love that I can bring my doggy with me here :D

A great classic way to watch a movie. My only complaint is that it's an hours drive out of Vancouver so after a double (or triple) feature, you'll be getting home pretty late.

For one ticket price (per person, except on matinee nights) you get admission to 2 to 3 new release movies that you can watch from the comfort of your own vehicle. Bring a lawn chair and an FM radio if your car is uncomfortable and sit in front of your car to enjoy the show.

The concession is average priced for a theatre - $4 for pop or popcorn and combos ranging from $8 to $20. Lines are long for the concession right before the movie but at least they have large clean bathrooms.

There's two FM transmitters to choose from, I found 106.9 to be clearer in the front of the theatre.

To get good seats you'll need to get there about an hour early on the weekend, but it's definitely worth it.
