For the person who is impossible to find gifts for- I recommend visiting Twigg and Hottie. Edgy, stylish, unique and beautiful clothes, shoes and accessories. The price range may be a little higher than what I'm used to, but the quality is outstanding and well worth it. I had heard rumor that Twin Syndrome Underwear could be found here and my search was rewarded! I can now ride my bicycle, garden and rockclimb without being self conscious of showing off my plumber bum!! So Stoked!

This store kills me.
Funky, beautiful Canadian-made clothing and jewelry. Great fabrics (bamboo threads feel like heaven), styles that ooze West coast and as-to-be-expected Canadian-made prices. I've bought two necklaces in here as gifts... one that I ended up keeping for myself (oops?). -

Had sustainably/locally made clothing but too high fashion for my taste; excellent if you're into that though!

Twigg & Hottie is a Main Street mandatory and a fashion boutique where you can shop guilt-free. This store employ a dual mandate of: Independent Canadian Designers and Eco-Conscious Clothing which means all their garments are either created by local designers or they're made from sustainable, eco-friendly material. I've never had a problem finding something I love in this trendy little shop, and with over 50 designers to choose from you're sure to find something to please the fashionista inside. Just recently I bought a gorgeous pair of light blue Fidelity jeans, and I often buy these divine smelling pure soy Spice Enlightenment candles that do wonders to lift me out of a bad mood and send my olfactory senses into overdrive.

I love stopping in to visit this vibrant Main Street boutique, which offers an eclectic mix of over 50 Canadian labels, eco-friendly brands, and pieces by independent designers. The store stocks garments that are sweatshop-free, made from sustainable/recycled fabrics and materials, and are one-of-a-kind. Some brands of note: Grace & Cello, Devil May Wear, and Myco Anna. Also in stock are three in-house labels: Twigg & Hottie, Michael Clothing, and Clementine Clothing.

Vancouver-based designers, Glencorra Twigg and Christine Hotton founded Twigg & Hottie over 5 years ago and have since taken on another design partner, Jessica Vaira in their mission to create unique, wearable, sustainable clothing for the modern woman. Each designer brings a twist to the in-house labels, Twigg & Hottie and Michael and Clementine with bold, art based designs and classic tailoring. I was particularly interested in a pull-over sweater with a great tailoring detail that made the top appear to have a scarf attached, very different! Along with T&H and M&C, they carry over 50 Canadian design labels, from local Devil May Wear and Rock It Queen, along with my new favourite jewellery designer, Whore to the Core, a collection of whimsical, sassy pieces that will surely draw some attention.

Twigg and Hottie is a Main Street special: lots of local designers, pretty dresses, cool t-shirts and one of a kind items. The selection isn't huge, so you won't be overwhelmed by too much choice, and what's nice is that whatever you do choose here won't be being worn by everyone else. Once in a while this store has a dress sale and you'll find good deals and some funky shifts for a night out or a day at work (assuming you work somewhere cool enough to handle Twigg and Hottie attire). Yet another stop not to be missed on your Main Street wanderings.
