When I walked into Tutty Fruiti I felt like, well, I felt like a kid in a candy store.  Harharharharhar.  Ok I just had to throw that one out there.

ANYWAY, yes Tutty Fruiti is a candy store and yes it is a very enjoyable kind of place to visit.  They carry your time honored classic stuff like Snickers and Mike and Ikes, and you'll also see some vintage brands popping up at you (who else remembers Big League Chew and Bazooka Joe??')  They also carry some British products like the old school black tar-like licorice and some other more obscure candy bars such as Almond Joy.  I actually had not ever seen an actual Almond Joy bar before in real life untill I saw one at Tutty Fruiti.

My personal favorite here is the Jelly Bellys, they have a super amazing selection here with flavors not easily found elsewhere such as Strawberry Jam and and Dark Chocolate.  Strangely enough they do not carry thier namesake bean, Tutti Fruitti.  Maybe the owner figured that heading to Tutty Fruiti to get some Tutti Fruitti Jelly Bellys would be too much of a cliche.

And speaking of the owners, there is only ever one sole staff member behind the counter and I figure he is most likely the owner either in whole or in part.  He is the only thing that takes the fun out of shopping here as he wears a scowl and hardly bothers with pleasentries such as 'hello' and 'thank you'.

And as if all that Almond Joy-Jelly Belly-sugary-yummy-goodness wasn't enough you will also find some cutesy-stylized action figure bobble heads (the cutest one is Freddy Kruger), some Betty Boop swag , a wide selection of Simpsons collectibles and various Happy Bunny merch.  My favorite from the Happy Bunny collection is the box of mints with 'Poison' crossed out and then 'Mints For My Best Friend' written over it.  Funny stuff,

    Candy Candy Candy GALORE

That alone is worth 3 stars. They claim to have a selection of British goods, which they do, but the British Boy was unimpressed with their selection. I don't know that anyone goes here for that though. I myself go for the little bags filled with sweet treats. The prices are high (you can get cheaper at Bulk Barn without question), but since I'm not usually buying a lot, I don't really care. It is very easy to spend $5-$10 though. Be warned!

Sour juice berries, dark chocolate covered almonds, sour tear jerker gum balls. This shop has everything you  need if you're heading to the movies! (I recommend stopping here once the Bloor Cinema reopens!)

Also, they have renamed this store to Kandy Shoppe, but it seems like nothing has changed inside.

Bacon Cheddar Cheese Crickets or do you prefer the more original taste of Salt N Vinegar?

Or if you prefer, some Mexican Spiced Lavas? I wondering if the spicy is authentic enough?

Of course if you are vegetarian, there are also a lot of other strange and odd candies and treats you would find here at Tutti Fruitti!!

Or if you are more bothering, there are jelly beans? Trust me those are just jelly beans with no ants inside...

There are also quite a selections of British imports..... but all I want is the Strawberry flavored Scorpion Sucker!

Who cares about cavities! Candy is king!

I love candy, so of course I love candy stores. I like this one specifically because of its vast selection of British chocolates (they're just so much creamier over there!), different kinds of Jelly Belly jellybeans (there's a whole wall dedicated to them) but most of all, they carry Cow Tails, which for those of you who don't know are caramel strips stuffed with cream.

My boyfriend likes the weird jelly sharks they sell so I always go there with the excuse that I'm buying stuff for him, but really I end up leaving with more things for myself.

Oh! And they sell bulk Turkish delight! Gooey little squares all powdered down with sugar. I can barely make it back to the subway without wolfing down a couple of those bad boys.

(Now just imagine a young woman sitting on the subway with powdered sugar all over her face and black jacket......that's me, my friend).

    RETARDED.

expect that if you bring your child in here he or she will have a coronary, their jaws will drop open only to have their entire set of teeth come out with them, and that theyll likely have to repeat grade one again as all their language stills will turn to goo.

anyone who visits here might just pass up the shrooms for the night because youre plunged into colour overload.  if its ever been made in the span of a good 50 or so years theyll have it.  theyll also have stupid stuff like bacon flavored jelly beans.

also, if you are a die hard elvis or mr. bean fan then lo and behold there are action figures for you too.  either way dont expect to get a whole bunch of goodies for a few bucks as its not so cheap.

This place is bloody evil, in a good way of course.

I lived directly across the street from it for nearly 3 years, I could see the sign from my living room window. This, combined with Tutti Fruitti's late night hours of operation, resulted in many midnight saunters across the road for a sugar fix. I'm not sure why it is open so late, perhaps to entice local Annex potheads in need of late night munchies.

While I pride myself on being a healthy eater, sweets are my one weakness. The thing I love about Tutti Fruitti is I can go in and select a nice variety of candy and chocolate, most items costing $1.29 per 100 grams.

The owner is more than happy to see me every time I stroll in, greeting me with a smile, even though I usually buy a handful of candy which usually totals 0.87 cents!

They also have imported UK treats (fruit pastilles, YES!) and most of the US brands of chocolate bars that you can't find here. Lots of toys, PEZ and novelty items as well.

I still visit often, despite moving half a mile or so down the road :)

The best thing you can do on your way out to dinner or drinks is to swing in here an pick up a big bag of mixed candies.  Everyone will be your best friend for the rest of the night.  Try to get at least one piece of the crazy salted licorice...perfect for pranks and general good times.

This store is open crazy hours and is always there when I need it.  From it's more than adequate selection of Jelly Belly flavors to its selection of British candies and chips, you can't go wrong satisfying your sweet tooth here.

True, it may be cheaper to run across the street to the Metro or one of the nearby convenience stores, but how else will you get that Willy Wonka moment of excitement when you realize that as an adult, you are now fulfilling your childhood dream of buying candy at nine o'clock at night.  Avoid the high priced novelty items, unless of course it's a tin of mints shaped like an NES controller.  You will find more uses for that than you would imagine.

The selection of candy seemed pretty good, but I didn't get to taste it.

I went in to buy one item that turned out to be 25 cents. All I had was a five dollar bill. The woman behind the counter told me that she "couldn't do that." I let her know that all I had was $5 but she had already taken the piece and put it behind the counter and was no longer making eye contact with me.

Pretty fundamental issue that a candy store wouldn't sell me a piece of candy for a good five dollar bill. Ludicrous. Not only that, but she was offended when she should have been apologetic. She didn't even look in the till to see if she could make change.

There's a section below that asks if they take credit card. I doubt that they do, since they won't take cash.
