Review from Ashley L.
Oh nom nom nom.... I love love love the food here! Turkish Delight has such a wide selection of dishes that I have to look at the menu on-line at home before I walk the two blocks just to stress about it again. There are so many things that I want every time I go I turn into a little kid at a candy store. Yesterday was no exception.
I have the garlic chicken kebab and the bf had the trit kebab (which looked amazing - if only I still ate lamb) and they were both fantastic. Usually when we're there we'll start with the cacik, but since we had plans afterwards we just stuck with the meal and a nice, soothing cup of Turkish tea to finish it off.
The service is great and it was the owner personally who took our order when they were starting to get busy - such a friendly man. The decor is full of character and it's really interesting to see all the unique pieces that are truly Turkish (the bf travelled throughout Turkey so I'll trust what he says) that I always learn something new every time we go. I have to say, I love it more and more every time I visit. -

Love how spacious it is now that they've expanded. The wait-staff are SO wonderful, and the owner is lovely as well. You can tell they care a lot about providing good service, and they have the best baklava in the city. Food is wonderful as well!

When it comes to Middle-Eastern food my standards are very high but I have to admit the food is pretty good here. It is reasonably priced and the portion sizes are good. Although I make better kebabs than they do, I still really like the food here.
What I don't like about this place are as follows. Tables are too close to each other. Service isn't very good. The waitresses' attitude is "eat and get the hell outta here so I can move on to the next table and get more tips"!
I understand why this place is so popular but I believe there is a lot of room for improvement as they got the most important thing (food) right!
I almost forgot to mention that it's one of the very few Halal restaurants downtown so if you're looking for one, this is the right place for you but if you want alcohol with your food, turn around! -

What a delightful (pun unintended) restaurant, it really is a diamond in the rough. A bit small inside, but I think that just adds to its charm. I usually order one of the lamb dishes, they are fantastic! The rice and accompanying salad are very tasty too. Oh, and the hummus! Mmmm, I can't forget about the hummus. SO GOOD.
I have eaten in a couple of times, the restaurant has a cozy interior good for small groups of people. Not sure I'd want to try to fit an office party in here or anything though.
Turkish Delight is also great for take out, which I have ordered often, especially if you work downtown and are looking for a tasty lunch not of the fast food variety. If you haven't tried this gem before, make sure to add it to your list, you won't be disappointed.Listed in: Break Out the Take Out!

Turkish Delight is one of the best kept secrets in the city. I'm sure I walked by it a thousand times before finding out about it from my daughter and her friends.
This tiny restaurant is squished in between Your Father's Mustache and Mexicali Rose, two larger than life pub style restaurants, so it's easy to miss. That said, it's a delightful haven from the rest of life once you walk in the door. Just a handful of tables, a wall of some imported Turkish and Persian delicacies like the real Turkish delight - a nutty sweet dessert treat and of course an open kitchen where you can actually watch everything prepared.
There are usually line ups for the lunch take out crowd - and a perfect choice if you don't have the time to wait for a table. It's a family run business and the pride shows everywhere.
But let's get to the real reason people come here time and time again - the food. And because there are so many choices, you might want to consider a mixed meze plate where you can choose three tasty dishes served with fresh pita. This truly could be enough for a meal if you're alone.
As for mains..chicken, meat (lamb is awesome and my personal choice) as well as vegetarian. Which ever you choose, I know you'll enjoy it. Why else do I go back so often? -

I just love this place. Wednesdays (chicken doner) are my favorite. Thursdays (beef doner) are also good. Any other day, I would order the Garlic Chicken. They do not have a liquor license and the staff is somewhat under-dressed (branded T-shirts) for an upscale area. Service is always good though. The quality of the food seems to vary a little bit, but overall a great place to enjoy a Turkish menu.

Tucked into a small storefront on Spring Garden Road is Turkish Delight, arguably one of the best mediterranean restaurants in Halifax. Turkish Delight is a treat, whether you are stopping in for a meal or for a mid-shopping refresher. You may find the menu overwhelming on your first visit if you - like I was - aren't familiar with this style of cuisine. However, the staff are cheerful and helpful when choosing different options off the menu. They will enthusiastically recommend various combinations and you can't go wrong if you listen to them - they know their food! There are several vegetarian options for those who don't do meat, including veggie kebaps. The ingredients for all their dishes are locally sourced, which is important to me when choosing a local establishment.
I've taken the kids there; the menu is uniquely suited for a tapas-style diner, with everyone ordering different dishes and sharing liberally at the table. Now, my kids don't have the most refined palate and often reject the suggestion of ethnic cookery, however we all enjoyed our food and would go back in a heartbeat.
Turkish Delight is one of those restaurants that pulls you back time and again. For the money, it's probably the best deal going on Spring Garden Road! -
Review from Lacey H.
I mentally offset the fact that I had to go into work for a few hours yesterday with the promise of going out for lunch afterwards. Before getting errand oriented post-office duties, Andrew and I headed into Turkish Delight, a small kebab house on Spring Garden Road.
I had never been until yesterday and was delighted to see that the place was packed. There was authentic music playing overhead and bright yellow walls filled with colorful décor. A friendly and busy server gave us our menus and greeted us promptly, and about 10 minutes later a different server returned to take our orders. We decided on a sampler plate, with four dips, 2 falafel and 2 grape leaves - we even ordered the large size to insure that both of us would be sated post consumption.
The drink orders took awhile but the food arrived pretty quickly. The presentation was okay, but we were a little surprised by the small portions, as we'd ordered what we thought would be a large serving. The dips were good, best when all mixed together inside a pita and topped with a grape leave or falafel.
When we finished, we were fairly satisfied and headed to the counter to fork over some dough. When the bill came to $23 I questioned the server to look it over, because it seemed quite high for what we'd had. But that was the price - and we paid, tipped, and left.
I thought the meal was worth maybe $15 and would have been a good serving for one hungry person. I will head back in to give this resto another whirl, but must admit this visit wasn't all I'd hoped it would be. -

Never had Turkish food before, I was really impressed. We had the Meze plate to start with an assortment of dips with pita bread, really nice. Lamb skewer for my main and it was great, I will definitely go back the next time I'm in Halifax.
