I've been going to Tula South regularly and it's become a favourite place for The Practice of Hot Hatha. It's clean, well laid out, spacious, calm, quiet, and it's never been ridiculously packed and busy. The instructors have consistently been good -- challenging, attentive and experienced. I'm always happy after a class there.
I wouldn't call the class hot though. It's more of a Mild 'n Dewy Hatha class. They should consider changing the name of the class or the temperature of the room. -

I decided to try Tula South out after getting a WagJag deal. They are located in the heart of Liberty Village with a basement location. The studio is nice organized and has a flowy, mellow vibe which is essential to any yoga studio.
The neat thing about Tula is that if you are trying out for the first time, your first class is $10 and your second class is free! It is a pretty sweet deal if you want to get acquainted with the studio and classes. They offered heated and non-heated classes. I have only taken the heated classes to date.
The instructors are great, helpful in correcting your postures. I love the fact they play music during each class.
The change rooms are clean and spacious which is very different from the other studios I have been too.
Through my Wagjag deal experience, I have declared Tula South my home yoga studio. I hope you are able to check out for yourself if you are in the Liberty Village area!Listed in: Liberty Village

I went to Tula South for spa services, not yoga, so I have no opinions one way or the other on the yoga part of the studio.
When I arrived there was a hand written sign asking guests to take off their shoes near the front door. This, in general, is fine, but the carpets after the shoe racks were quite dirty and I didn't like that I had to walk across them in my socks.
There was no receptionist when I arrived, but a yoga instructor who had just finished a class was able to help me. The waiting room was big and comfy. The bathroom / change room was okay - but not that clean. And there was no place to secure your belongings, only hooks and shelves.
The esthetician was nice, but she had absolutely no help and could have used some. She had to check clients in and out and prepare / clean the rooms.
The biggest disappointment was that the service I booked for wasn't available because they were out of the proper supplies. Why they couldn't have checked this before I arrived, I'm not sure, but she didn't notice until I was lying on the table and she was already explaining the procedure.
She did substitute a massage, which was great, but I've had better massages.
Overall I'm on the fence about the spa. I'd only go again if I had a free service or a deep discount (to try it again). But I wouldn't pay full price to go again. -

Perhaps my best experience at a Tula yet!
I popped in for a Friday-afternoon Hot Power class last week. It wasn't my first Power class, after attending one with Brittany at west last fall; however, due to instructor variance, changed sequencing, or perhaps even my own development, it wasn't quite as "powerful" as I recall. I found the sun salutes somewhat slow, disjointed; almost as in an introductory class. I also didn't find that I didn't get as much of a sweaty sweat on as I had previously at Tula classes. But, it was a nice cap to my work week. The instructor was calming (though slow...well, slow for me).
I wasn't too keen on the actual location; thinking it was straight-up "Liberty Villiage", I was a little lost, wondering if I was in the right location as I went even further west than the BMO field. It was a lower level suite, down a few hallways; not a draw, but different from the other two locations. The studio was lovely, but there was something up with the lights; I found it distracting as the lights kept surging every 5-10 seconds. The changerooms may have been a crowning glory; what gorgeous facilities!
Thoroughly enjoyable, but a little far. -

Hot yoga in the basement? No, thanks. Clean studio though.

Despite the great location, and beautiful decor, something about the place did not work for me and I don't think I would come back.
When I get there, the receptionist was new, and did not know what the Passport to Prana was. I felt weird that I knew more than she did, and there was no manager or instructor on hand to help her. I had also asked if they had blocks, and she didn't know what they were (and they didn't have any - what kind of yoga place, other than Bikram, doesn't have these props?). I think a yoga studio should at least hire someone that has some yoga knowledge.
The lounge area is spacious and big with lots of magazines, tea/water and nice big couches. Along the narrow corridor to the changerooms, the door was open to a large storage area, and there were rags on the floor.
The change rooms are a decent size. Two big showers, some space for clothes, and bathroom out of the way in a separate area. However, it did get crowded after the class during the changeover.
I was early for the 5:15 Heated Hatha Flow class, and she was finishing up with the last class. They finished exactly at 5:15, not really leaving a lot of time for relaxing and getting used to the heat in the room. I guess this is why she spent a good 10 mins in the beginning in Savasana (I felt a little waste of time).
Charlotte was an okay instructor. Her soothing voice put me to sleep esp when we were lying down. However, there were only 2 of us in the class today. It would have been nice to have more interaction, more corrections. At least have us introduce ourselves, and talk about things we would like to work on, or our yoga experience. There was nothing, and she ran the class no different if there were 20 people in the room. Adjustments were minimal. I wasn't impressed.
The class itself was supposed to be Hatha Flow - I barely broke a sweat. There were some vinyasas, but the pose sequence was not enough to get a heart rate up. Maybe this is just the nature of Hatha Yoga - but I've been to a non-flow class that did give me a good work out - who knows. -

This is my favourite yoga studio in Toronto. I love it so much. The instructors are great, the atmosphere is wonderful and it's well maintained.
I have been practicing yoga 3-4 days a week for about 8 months at various studios across Toronto and Ottawa. Tula South is now my 'home studio' because the vast majority of teachers work hard to provide adjustments and run classes that offer great workouts.
I practice yoga and get massages from Lora here. Lora has used her knowledge of osteopathy to help me greatly. I plan on trying their spa services in future! -

Love Tula South! This is a pretty, clean, and welcoming studio. Great yoga teachers. Both hot and regular yoga classes available. Lovely instructors and overall great atmosphere. I've yet to try their spa services, but they all sound great and are at reasonable rates.

Was pumped about the Tula hype and decided to check it out. Upon entry of the studio, there was a man sitting behind the reception desk...I think he might have been the owner...he didn't greet me really...not friendly...actually somewhat stuck up and arrogant...horrible introduction to the studio. The class was suppose to be a HOT Power Flow...lead by a female instuctor...won't say her name, just cause she seems like a nice enough gal...BUT the class itself was horrible!!! The heat was not cranked at all! I was actually feeling cold air blow on me at one point. The sequence/flow...well what sequence/flow???! She had a strange theme for her class...and really, some of the stuff that was coming out her mouth made no sense and had no correlation to her theme. She also would make moaning noises and close her eyes when giving instruction...I kept looking around at the other students...wondering if this was normal??!! I am a conditioned Yogi, and can appreciate authentic and heartfelt guidance...but this class was an utter joke! I was extremely dissappointed...I got a better work out and meditation walking there, than the actual class itself. The studio is beautiful...but really....that does nothing for me...if you can't lead an intelligent class....or create a friendly enviroment for the people paying your studio bills Mr. Stuck UP Owner...I will take my business happily elsewhere.
