Another 24h pho place in East Van other than Pho Hoa and Gold Train?  Yes.

Parking is available on the side streets. There are also 4 or so spots at the back of the restaurant.

When we first walked in, only 1 table was taken.  I wasn't sure what to expect, but then the friendly waitress came up and started talking to us, and we warmed up.  She was so friendly, she even kept checking up on us as we were waiting for the rest of the group to show up.

Interestingly enough, throughout the course of the meal, some people showed up.  Then more people came.  By the time we left, there were 6 tables occupied.  Not only that, but at least 3-5 groups came in for take-out as well.  This is at 0100.  The other amusing thing is that half the customers were in their pyjamas.  I mean that literally.  It looked as if they decided to get out of bed and mosey over for MSG nightcaps.

As for the food, there was some quality here for sure.  I had their #30 chicken and bamboo with noodle in soup.  The dish was nice and stinky because of the bamboo.  Oooh yeah.  The chicken was nice and moist (most pieces), and had just the right amount of flavouring. The soup had MSG for sure, but it wasn't overwhelming.  The noodles were also cooked well, and were not soggy.

I will definitely be back, though from this point on it'll be a tough one between this place and Mui Ngo Gai down the street.

I'm told this place is under new management.  I never came here when it was run by the previous owners, so I can't compare in that sense.

Unlike the vast majority of reviewers here, I came here during normal hours, so my opinions aren't at all influenced by hours of clubbing, when often, anything open will taste good (Dennys, I'm looking at you).

The food is reliable. The banh mi pate sandwich was decent, with a generous serving of deli meat, though a bit heavy on the mayo.  The fried chicken wings have some great spices on them.  The wrapped Banh Bot Loc (Vietnamese Clear Shrimp and Pork Dumplings) were good for a restaurant.  The pho did not disappoint.

Not amazing.  Not bad either.  Worth a return visit.  During the day even.

Came here the other night to try their bowl of noodles. I heard it was 24/7 so I had to drop by after an amazing event of clubbing. It was fairly busy and it was loud in there. It is hard to hear each other with the annoying loud music playing in the establishment, and it drove me insane...

The parking wise wasn't as great as I thought... there is parking behinde the building but the spaces are everywhere. It was weird, so I parked onto the street beside the establishment.

The waitress was very nice to me and my friends. She was smiling and always happy when she was talking with us. She instantly gave us tea and the menus as we  entered the place. The only thing I didn't like as much as I thought was the bowl of pho...

The only place where it needed a lot of change was the bowl of pho. I ordered a regular stable bowl of pho (Raw Beef slices with Tendon) and it was not up to my standards for a bowl of pho. The raw meat was extremely not delicious. The meat was very low quality, atleast use medium quality if you want people to be satisfied. The meat was extremely chewy and flaky. It felt like the meat has been soaking in the broth for way too long.. T_T Over cooked meat with raw beef? I don't understand... And the tendon were all small pieces and they were the bad boney types too... they were hard in the middle... UGH.

The only thing I actually like that I ordered that night was the Vietnamese Sandwiches. It was cheap and delicious. I think I will be ordering their sandwiches here from now on. The quality of the bread is mediocre, but it's the grilled meat in the middle that made me drool... Perfectly grilled and seasoned pork.

Overall, I love the service, the place is clean, take out the loud annoying music and make the pho a bit better please... I LOVE the sandwiches, so for sure coming back here for that.

This is a 24 hour pho place - but I think I like it more than Pho Hoa, Kim Penh Xe Luam, or Gold Train Express.

Service is pretty good and they treat their regulars very well.  They screwed up my friends' order and profusely apologized and offered to replace it - which is a pretty big deal in a Viet joint.  In my experience, most joints will just tell you to "deal with it".

Obviously, you lower your standards with a 24 hour pho joint - but nothing amazing or offensive.  But at time of day I visited, my judgment was impaired.  But nothing seemed vastily amiss with my pho dac biet - good enough for 3-stars.  And think I'll be dropping by again for my late night pho fix.

Maybe I the staff was burned out from a post-club rush, but I went in late one morning at 3am to find pretty much every table filled with leftover food and mess from previous diners...  and no one doing anything to clean it up.
I waited for takeout for what seemed a good 20-25 minutes, even though there was only 1 other girl there also getting takeout.

    * Disappointing pho house on several levels *

I'm always suspicious of a place that toots its own horn.  Their sign reading, "Best Vietnamese food in Vancouver" was a bit of an eyebrow raiser.  The series of professional photos by a rather new Yelper was another.

But there were many positive Yelp reviews from established reviewers so I figured I would give it a shot to see what I was missing.

I ordered my typical test of pho tai gan (pho with rare beef and tendons) to see how it stacked up.

The garnish plate arrived first and it was a positive sign with very fresh and generous amounts of basil, good looking sprouts, chili, and lime (is the lime shortage of 2011 over finally?!?!?!).  Photo:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

But when my pho arrived it was a bit of a disappointment.  About half of the "rare" beef was overcooked and clumped.  There was one smaller piece that was still properly rare, but the bulk were rubbery chewy brown crumpled up ball of beef slices that had all melded together when cooked.  Disappointing.  The one small piece of truly rare beef was ok, but not the best cut.  Overall the beef was quite disappointing. The tendons were decent, but there were only 2 very small pieces.

The broth, which was highly touted, was also disappointing.  It was excessively oily with big pools of grease floating on top.  It was as if they hadn't taken the care to nurture the broth while building up flavours - it was a very one dimensional flavour.  The noodles were also slightly overcooked as well to the point of almost being mushy.  2 stars overall for this bowl of pho - there are much better options available at the numerous pho houses in the area.   Photo of pho tai gan:   http://www.yelp.ca/biz... and close-up of the ridiculous oil pools and overcooked "rare" beef:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

    Meh!

I came in for late nite to-go grub. Grilled Lemongrass Chicken on rice - yum! This was good and the chicken was just charred enough for that great texture. Also had fresh avocado smoothie with tapioca... sooo good. The shortstuff viet lady who took my order was cute and friendly with a nice smile. When it was done she personally handed it to me at the table while I was waiting. I was going to tip but she was quick with a "No no, not for to-go, it's ok".

Great food option for Days Inn customers (like I was) across the street... especially where there is a *gasp* 24 Hrs McDonalds next door to it. Sweet ladies and good food. Nice place for what it is.

P.S. I forgot which day, but she said they close at midnight and open at 4a. o_O?! Not sure if that's one day or what, but dayum. Maybe I misheard it as 9? The to-go menu says 9a-4a Fri-Sat. Whoa!

I can't say enough good things about Truong Thanh. I truly believe they are the best in town. We've been here 5 times now (I guess we're becoming regulars) and the staff is so nice to us. Best service I've received from a Viet restaurant ever.

The last few times they've discounted our meals, without any reason why, but it's a nice gesture. The food is continually tasty and hot.

The same menu but, better than everyone else.

A fresh birdseye chili is included on the garnish plate.  The broth is rich and meaty.  The grilled pork is grilled over very high heat so the edges of the fat are crisp.

Their sign on the side of their restaurant modestly states, "The best vietnamese food in town."  I say modestly because it just might be true.

I agree with the other reviews, the pho broth here is pretty darned good!  Service was also quite friendly.

They have a decent sized menu and they do the pho thing pretty well.  The thing about the broth is that I think it's pretty low in MSG, because afterwards I didn't feel that thirsty, which is usually a trademark aftereffect at most pho restaurants.  Their spring rolls were also quite crispy and well filled, although not as meaty as some other places like Pho Lan (in Richmond).

The Boy and I only had pho so I can't comment on the other items here but I would definitely come back.

3.5 This place is quite good! Service is more friendly than usual, pho tai hoa (HORRIBLE SERVICE) so this place was pleasant to be in. They did make my order incorrect a couple of times but fixed it, no questions asked! I'm a regular here now.. and will continue to be. Plus the food here is SUPER cheap, 6bucks for a SM bowl of pho and 7.50 for a rice dish that comes with soup.. TAX INCLUDED, wow. WIN-WIN situation.
