This place makes the most delicious lattes in town, and their wee squares and loaves are wicked. The cafe is warm, the staff are personable and efficient. Prices are very reasonable.

Unfortunately, this cute, independent coffee shop was a disappointment. Perhaps I was dreaming to hope it was on par with Rooster, Mercury or Crema.
They have the very basic drinks on the menu (no Cortado or Macchiato, for example), and the owner had cursory barrista skills. She could make a latte, just not very well. Her tamping pressure was too light, and the milk was steamed too much which resulted in the latte being too hot.
She was friendly, and the place had a nice, unhurried vibe, but I won't be rushing back.Listed in: Coffee

This place is mis-named since it has delicious soups and sandwiches at a ridiculously low price. It's a fabulous place for lunch or a snack, especially if you find yourself in the Woodbine area--not much else around that's great cooking. It's worth the schlep from my Riverdale home to get their soup. The quiche I had was also fab. The baking is very good, even though the European style pastries are not quite to my taste. David M is likely correct that the lattes, etc aren't on a par with the top Riverdale/Leslieville spots (Rooster, Mercury, Broadview Espresso) but few are. Anyway, go there for tasty and healthy fall/winter soups, etc. and enjoy a decent, if not exceptional, coffee with the pastries
