Review from Chuck H.
Was visiting London, and my host made dinner arrangements for a small group. Nice new American menu, though clearly they like to create "architectural food". But it was very tasty. Coming from a big US city, prices seemed quite reasonable. Ambience is comfortable for both those coming casually and in more formal dress. Though lighting is a bit dim.

If you are looking for a romantic night out in downtown London, this is the place to go. The quality of food is superb (though a tad limited) and tine staff is very friendly and seem genuinely concerned about your satisfaction level.
A little pricy but you get what you paid for. -
Review from Tash T.
Tru is one of the best restaurants in London. The food is always incredible, the servers take pride in their work, and the place is run effectively with care. Each detail of this restaurant is handled with obsessive attention.
On each trip to Tru, I have been blown away by the quality and presentation of the food as well as the tranquil atmosphere. Although the restaurant is expensive (I'm not going to lie), the portions are reasonable. The menu doesn't change too frequently, so if you develop any favorites, chances are they will be there when you return.
As London develops a market for more high-end restaurants, the prices at Tru will seem more reasonable. As long as the quality of standards remain, so will the restaurant. -

We made a reservation at Tru on a Saturday night. The place was really big and the decor very beautiful. The place was really dark and had a more romantic ambience to it. The waiters there were very nice and very enthusiastic in pointing out the location of the washrooms and letting us know about the specials etc.
When we went, they still had the $29 set course which had either the duck confit salad or cesar salad or soup of the day (which was a halibut chowder) to start followed by either the veal, salmon or chicken pasta entree and you can choose either the dark chocolate brownie or the mandarin orange cake for dessert.
The food took a long time to arrive. When it finally did, I tried the halibut chowder and the duck confit salad and both were rather delicious, however, I found that the salad was over dressed and the chowder was a bit too salty to my liking. My entree was the Australian lamb. The portion size was decent and the lamb was very delicious but a bit too greasy. I also tried a bit of both desserts, the dark chocolate brownie was very delicious, but the mandarin orange cake was only ok. It was very sweet and it was more like sponge then cake, it was very hard to cut and the texture was a bit like chewing gum.
Overall, Tru has a very warm and romantic feel to it and the food was decent, but it was a bit pricey. I would recommend this to couples on a romantic date or large groups for a get-together! -

Good-to-great food but if your out for the full experience of decore, atmosphere and inspiration, then your out of luck. The decore is awful. The logo was my first tip off (seriously) but i was invited so went against my better judgement. Basically, the food is the only thing this place has going for it.
