Review from Chris C.
So this place is the perfect marriage of great beer & pizza. If they only did one or the other they would still be a great place, but when they do both so well it makes this place very special.
They had a whole host of interesting pizza options, but ended up going with one that had sausage, peppers, onions, cheese & rosemary. It was more of a traditional style pizza then the thin crust or flatbread ones that most places are serving now. Very tasty and it was pretty large so there was plenty to go around. The prices were on the cheap side & the service was very friendly & informative.
The day I was there they had 10 beers available on tap. You could either order them as a sampler rack which had 7 beers in it, single serve samples (which strangely were cheaper by themselves than if you ordered them in the sampler rack) & pints.
The only beer they had which I didn't like was the Oatmeal Stout. It tasted good going in, but had a strange aftertaste that I didn't care for. The Hoppin' Mad Trout & Northern Brown which were decent offerings. The Whitewater was a wheat ale that had some banana notes to it & was good. The Scottish Ale had a good malty flavor with a subtle chocolate aftertaste. The Nitro Coffee was exactly what its name would suggest and was a good offering. The Red Ale had a nice bitter flavor although a bit too subtle for my liking. The Doppelbock was a very good offering with a great subtle malty flavor, but went down real light & smooth. The IPA was great with subtle bitterness & a spiced aftertaste I couldn't quite pin down. The last one I had which was my favorite was the Knight Slayer. It had a bitter taste like a coffee stout, but the after taste was like licorice. It was so unique and definitely deserves a try while you are here. -

I loved this place! Great beer and great pizza- what else does a girl need?We had the beer sampler, and added on three more samples, so we could every single one of their beers.
In order from best to worst:
1. Whitewater: tastes like banana chips, delicious
2. Dopplebock: light carbonated, light malty , like cream soda, light alcohol
3. Red Ale: bitter, plain-ish, good aftertaste
4. Hoppin' Mad Trout: not too hoppy, citrusy/lemon
5. IPA: tastes spicy, not too bitter or floral
6. Scottish Ale: mild, choc stout-ish flavor, bitter, malty
7. Knight Slayer: bitter stout coffee, licorice/syrupy/roasted coffee aftertaste
8. Northern Brown: not bad, strong, slight bitter
9. Nitro Stout: light carbonated, liquid syrup, bitter aftertaste like coffee
10. Chocolate Oatmeal Stout: weird funky taste and aftertaste, skunked flavor
The pizza we chose had sausage, red peppers, onions, feta and cheddar on a garlic olive oil rosemary crust. SO DELICIOUS, and it came out fast and hot!
It was cute inside, and we had great service, and the prices were very reasonable. I had a great experience and would definitely come back!Listed in: Vermont Beer

We had to make the drive here to get our beer passports stamped, and were happy we made the trip. Their beers are all very good, our favorite being their rainbow red. Their pizza was also very good.
The bar/restaurant area has a very homey feel, and is a great place to hang out with friends and family.
Once we made it back to Burlington we realized that we forgot to have them stamp the passport! We thought about driving back up there, but decided to mail them with a note asking them to stamp them and mail them back. We weren't sure if we would the passports again, but we got them back a few days later!
We were eventually able to fill our passports and got our little prize pack!
If the passport still exists, I would recommend people try and fill it out only as an excuse to get out and see the state. -

I've been going to Trout River brewing company for pizza ever since I was a little kid. Every friday during the winter months, my family would look forward to stopping in at Trout after our 4 hour car ride for delicious food and great company.
This is thin crust, sour-dough pizza with gourmet toppings. Something far beyond what you'd expect anywhere, let alone a small town in Vermont.
The best pizzas here are not marinara based - they are the unique creations like the "Mexican" (do not leave Trout River without ordering this pizza). The reviewer who said the pizzas lacked cheese and topping must be used to mainbrand pizza like Papa Gino's or Dominoes. I have never received a pizza that was lacking in toppings or cheese in my 13 years coming here. And every friend I've ever brought up to Vermont has agreed that it's the best pizza he/she has ever had.
Also, don't be afraid to ask for custom orders. It's pizza. As long as the toppings are somewhere on the EXTENSIVE menu they are more than happy to prepare something of your own creation. If you like your thin crusts extra crispy, ask them to leave it in another minute.
Although I am still not yet old enough to drink, my Mom adores the chocolate oatmeal stout and my Dad can't get enough of the knightslayer. They have extremely picky palettes, especially when it comes to alcohol, so I can only imagine this beer is absolutely fantastic. We have a kegorator, and Trout River beer is the only stuff that ever goes into it. Over years of watching people drink it, I've never heard a single person complain.
Simply put, no pizza place in the world will ever compare to Trout River in my book. If you're in the area you MUST stop in. -

A small brewery which offers about 6 microbrews, but no tours. The beer is tasty enough, I am partial to the Rainbow Red Ale, which is a tasty red with a woodsy after-taste. All beers on the menu could use a tad more carbonation, but all are well done efforts. Because the brewery also functions as a bar, samples are not free. A small 2oz sampler is 50 cents while pints are a mere 3 bucks.
The brewery serves specialty pizzas, there were too many to name, but all featured a vast array of gourmet toppings that ran the gamut from gorgonzola cheese to summer sausage with fresh fennel. No vegan items here, but several all-vegetable/cheese topped pizzas were on the menu.Listed in: Breweries and Brewpubs, New England

A great little place in Lyndonville that has amazing, unique pizza (but only during dinner hours) and fresh Trout River beers on tap. They will even let you taste several of them for free, then decide which one you want. You can purchase a refillable growler to take home with you and bring back (rinsed) anytime for a refill. The refill charge is still $6 I believe. The Rainbow Red is definitely my favorite. The bar staff is very friendly. I once went with a friend who spilled a couple of tasting mugs of beer on the bar and was immediately given free refills with a smile!
The atmosphere is very casual, with lots of local college kids and residents coming in for pizza on a regular basis. There is space to sit if you want to, either to eat your pizza or have a beer while you wait. The exterior is nothing to get excited about, but it doesn't really matter. Everyone told me how amazing this place was, and I have to say I laughed at the little shack-like place when I pulled into the parking lot. Whatever - this is no tourist trap, just plain old Vermont! -

A couple of my buddies and I stopped here while traveling to the remote Northeast Kingdom region of Vermont. We were starving and thirsty (if you know what I mean).
Trout River is one of the great micro brews of Vermont. The beer was fresh and tasty, and the gourmet pizza they serve in their restaurant was wonderful. This was a great place to stop, in breaking up the beautiful but long drive across the rural routes of Vermont.
We forgot, but should have grabbed a few Trout River "road sodas" for the rest of the drive. =) -

Surprisingly wonderful little beer and pizza place! We stopped in on a Fri. early evening while driving up to Jay Peak. The place is small, casual, and clean. Our server was very friendly and fast. There were 6 people in our party and we never had an empty glass....very attentive service. The brew master was nice enough to entertain my bf's questions about the brewery set-up.
The beer was awesome! We ordered a couple of samplers and were able to try everything on tap. The Knights Layer was my favorite and the Chocolate Oatmeal Stout was a close second. We also got a couple of growler to go and they were a big hit with out group. We had 3 different pizzas with toppings like mushrooms, goat cheese, peppers, onions, spinach, etc.; all were very hot, fresh, and tasty. The pizza was flatbread style (think Upper Crust) and about $12-$15each...very reasonable.
Overall an awesome spot and worth the stop if your in the area!Listed in: At, on, or around the Slopes!

I was driving from Boston to Quebec City after work on a Friday and didn't want to drive until the wee hours of the night all the way to QC. I thought it would be great to find a good place to eat, drink and sleep before continuing on my journey... and it was great! My husband and I got the brewery at about 8:15pm and there was one open table, just for us.
They have all kinds of unique pizza combinations posted on chalkboards throughout the restaurant. We got a smoked trout one and it was delicious. And, just the other reviewers say, the red ale was the best one. All the ones we tried were good, but the red was great.
If you are in the area looking for some good pizza and a little atmosphere, you will enjoy this place and maybe take a growler to go!
Note: This restaurant is only open from 4pm - 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays. -

The meandering backroads of Stannard Mountain wound our thirsty party down to the Trout River Brewing Company in Lyndonville, a fine drinking establishment in what turned out to be a decent town. They brew a nice beer here and make a damn good bar pie too. . . Checked out their IPA, Rainbow Red, and Whitewater styles: Unfortunately, Knightslayers were unavailable to accompany "The Magnifico" (artichoke hearts, portabello mushrooms, sausage and marinara pizza), but the vibes were good and we were able to get our night off to a good start, from which, with growlers in hand, there could be no turning back.

The beer at the brewery is very good. The pizza is not. We sampled two different pizzas - one vegetable, one with meat - and they both tasted roughly the same. Over-oregano'd and lacking cheese and other toppings.
Save yourself a few dollars and just buy some beer to go. -

Trout river beer is really tasty. I love the Rainbow Red. You can go to the brewery on Fri. or Sat. when they serve pizza. It's a flatbread style and is the best pizza around here with out a doubt. It's better than most places anywhere as a matter of fact. Get a growler of two of there beer for a fun night with friends

This brewery is worth a stop if you're in northeastern Vermont. They have some pretty good brews to sample, but their sourdough pizza is great!
