Came here today for a late lunch/early dinner (3pm - is that lunch or dinner?)

The atmosphere is typical of your little hole in the wall, family run restaurants - comfortable and clean with a bit of a mishmash of decor - nothing too fancy but overall decent. Restrooms were clean. I could have done without the Xmas carols playing but they switched to some less seasonal music a little later on.

The staff was really friendly and nice - service was attentive, water glasses were refilled regularly, and they came to check and make sure everything was going well periodically, without being intrusive or hovering.

The food was excellent. I ordered the conch roti, though there were a lot of other really interesting selection on the menu that tempted me, such as elk roti, bison roti, calypso beef, Jamaican patties and more.

The roti was really tasty, nicely seasoned with large chunks of conch. The conch was a bit chewy and probably would have been better if it had been cut into thin slices instead of chunks but it was still really good - I'd order it again. The roti was quite large and came with a salad which was pretty amazing - I'm not sure what exactly was in it, but it had a really great mix of greens, fruit, dried fruit & seeds with a really nice dressing. The salad is a side, but that alone would have been worth the trip out there.

I can't wait to go back and try their other dishes. This was a really great place to go for a meal.

Had chicken curry plate with salad, mixed rice, and chicken. 12 bucks and was great. I took a doggy bag home so for me there was two meals from the one plate. It is not  a fancy decor. It was kind of slow service but the food was great and you get a lot of bang for your buck

I LOVE doubles.  If you go to Tropikis you must start with an order of doubles (delicious fritters with a chickpea curry filling) and you must put a dab of hot sauce on each bite even if it burns (it hurts so good!).

Tropikis also serves up fabulous rotis and since I had been there last, sadly 6 years ago before I moved away, they have expanded their varieties to include prairie delights like bison roti too!  I'm a fan of the chicken roti though, classic and full of wonderful flavours and tender chunks of dark meat.

The atmosphere is kind of bland but the food more than makes up for it.  We had great service (attentive but not overbearing) and a very enjoyable meal.

If you've never had authentic Caribbean food you should stop in and give it a try, I doubt you'll be disappointed.
