Weird but true: their salmon is delicious. And they don't just steam broccoli for your veggie side, you get an assortment of squashes, onions, etc.
Trivia night is fun, too, 'cept I know too little to win. -

Typical Irish tavern bar experience... decent food, a bit pricey.
Not bad during the day but at night it turns into a frat house complete with obnoxious college drunks. -

So instead of celebrating Cinco de Mayo with margaritas, Mexican cuisine, and pinatas, the bf and I had a hankering for meat and potatoes... so we went Irish! After some menu researching, we decided that Trinity Hall had what we needed. We arrived pretty late, but the festivities were definitely going on in this place.
There was much merriment happening with a boisterous crowd singing and dancing along to live Irish music. There was no outdoor seating left, so we sat inside and were very close to the music - almost TOO close to really hear anything other than "Danny Boy" and the like. At this point we were too hungry to talk to one another anyway, so we anxiously awaited our waiter. He came pretty quickly and the food came out promptly. I got the Mockingbird Sundae which came with lamb in gravy, fried potatoes and broccoli, mashed potatoes, and soda bread. The plate was HUGE and the broccoli and fried potatoes were placed in a ring around my beautiful scoop of mashed potatoes. The gravy was a little sweeter than I wanted, the lamb was a little chewy but had good flavor, and the potatoes really hit the spot. Despite being hungry, I ended up taking home 2/3 of my plate. My boyfriend got the roast beef with mased, carrots, and celery. He inhaled the whole plate, so I think he really enjoyed it.
Oh yeah, we both got beers because that's the only way to truly enjoy a meat and potatoes meal at an Irish pub. I got the Left Hand Milk Stout, which was a great dark beer that was rich with coffee and chocolate flavors. My boyfriend tried to order several British beers, but he struck out twice and settled for a Kilkenny. It was a little surprising that they didn't carry Boddington's, but I think they have other good substitutes so no biggy.
We had quite a bit of trouble getting a hold of our waiter - he would pass by our table but not make eye contact or stop to check if we were ok. I had to scream over the loud music and chase down the waiter for the check. Instead of apologizing for the wait, he tried to make the excuse that he didn't want to interrupt our conversation since it seemed like we were very intent on chatting with one another every time he passed. Even so, we definitely were not still shoveling food into our mouths, which means we were ready for the check, dude. This was a minor hiccup, we still enjoyed ourselves and went home with full bellies and very satisfied with our dinner destination! -

I've had a drink here a time or two, but I tried the food for the first time last night...it was great! I had the potato skins with ranch dressing. It was very good. The waiter we had was very attentive and the place, overall, was very clean. Not too loud and decent music for a backdrop. The patio was really nice as well, ample seating and smoking is permitted there as well, if you're in to that.
I'll be back! -

I've been here for both professional networking events and for events with my MeetUp group, and it's always a great time. Impressive beer selection, and the ambiance is about as close as I'm going to get to the Emerald Isle (for now anyway).
I've never eaten here so I can't rate that, but everything else is great. Parking is easy (it's garage parking right behind Trinity Hall, and it's free), the servers and bartenders are friendly, the beer selection is extensive, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting...just what you would expect from an Irish pub.
And I'm going to have to check out the whisk(e)y tastings...didn't know about that! That's why I love Yelp. I learn something new every time I'm on here. :) -

The food, the beer, the people! Oh this place is great.
Let's start with the beer... tons of it. 99 bottles of beer (if you will...) and the best variety I've seen in a long time!
We went around 8pm on a Friday night, and the place was busy, but it just got busier. The music started going (live Irish music), and the place was packed by about 9pm. We drank and ate, and had a very merry time.
The food was ok. It wasn't amazing, but it was ok. The wife had the pot roast which was good, and the Mont De Carlo reminded me of Bennigan's. Our friends had the leg of lamb, which was described as "lamb jerky," and the fish and chips, which were decent. Overall, the food didn't suck, but it could use some improvement. Then again, it's a pub, so whatever. It's pub food!
This place, to me, is great. IF you're going for an Irish Pub. You have to know what you're walking in to. Order the right foods, the right beers, etc. Also, the environment here is killer. They have live music, poker nights, etc, etc, etc... seemed like there was always something going on, so we'll definitely be back!
I'd highly recommend this place and we'll be back for sure. Just hopes the food gets that extra... something... that was missing. Try it out! -

One of my favorite places to meet someone for a beer. Great selection of beer with good seasonal/rotator taps as well. The wife and I hit up TH last wknd when she was wanting some fish and chips. I had the bangers & mash, made with Kuby's sausage, and it was awesome.
I like hanging out here because there's almost always a lively crowd, but you can almost always find a seat as well. The space really lends itself to putting down a couple of pints over good conversation.Listed in: Best Beer Bars

I really really like this place. Pretty laid back with a great beer selection and pretty damn good food also. There's a big patio during the nice days and on the weekends there's typically live music. Check It out now!

Pub food, beer, grunt... ugh... grunt some more and have corn beef and cabbage... bangers and mash... Irish pub food! The waitress was awesome, even when I turned back a beer for another one, she swapped em without asking, SCORE! The interior is expected wood interior, pub grub and beer... did I mention that?
I had the pulled pork and I bet it came from a pre-made bag... cole slaw was disturbingly bad and the potato salad wasn't recommended. I swapped em for the french onion soup... sorry.

I like Trinity Hall more than my 3 star review would suggest but not quite enough to make me turn the corner on a 4 star review. I like the look of the place. There is a good beer selection and the Mockingbird location is really cool. They have a fine patio that is the perfect place to enjoy cold beer on a nice day before or after taking in a film at the Angelika.
Trinity is 'nice' it looks classy and feels classy but Dallas does 'nice' in abundance and for whatever reason Trinity Hall never seemed to have much personality/ The service is professional but not always warm and all the quirkiest aspects that make a bar really great just are not found here. Everything is okay to good, the food, the selection etc is all solid but none of it is good enough to really grab my attention and keep it for very long. The good location and patio mean that this place is worth a stop when in Mockingbird Station but this is not a destination bar as far as I am concerned. -

I've been meaning to make it out to the Trivia Night here (or tasting nights, for that matter), but haven't had a chance yet.
However, I have had the chance for many other wonderful, scotch-filled evenings here. So far, the Ardbeg has been my favorite Islay here. Oh my, just thinking of it makes my mouth water; I think I know where I'm going this weekend.
On the note of their Scotch, I've always been rather impressed with their staff. The server I had last visit was fabulous and made the best recommendations, and even followed through when I told him to surprise me (which is how I scored the Ardbeg find)!
The food almost loses it a star, as sad as I am to say. I've seen a similar complaint from other patrons. The cheese board was sub-par, and I felt like I was eating slices of generic packaged cheeses, just in pretty colours. The fact that they also cut them up in little triangles also baffled me. The sausage platter didn't seem too terrible when a friend ordered it, but the fries and curry were just 'meh.' I'll need to peruse their selection more thoroughly, but so far I've been fairly disenchanted. Luckily the rest of the environment is so good that I'll keep 'em at a solid 4 stars.
In closing, it's honestly not in my preferred area of Dallas lately, but whenever I'm anywhere near Mockingbird I have to stop here. -

This place used to be within stumbling distance of my old undergrad pad. I used to enjoy many a pint & reigning as the trivia queen in my halcyon days. I used to watch some UK football here with some friends back when I was fascinated by it. Great beer selection & colorful bartenders.
The food, greasy pub fare, is also good. A star is docked for their then-usurious New Year's cover charge. -

This place is alot of fun. I go here to watch soccer matches with my friends. They open early so you are able to watch them live. I also enjoy there food and traditional pub fare. The only reason it doesnt get 5 stars is that during the games they seem to be understaffed and it can take awhile for service. Favorite is the Curry and chips a simple and delicious dish.

More refined bar I guess. They've got their fair share of beers here, and some of them are unique or hard to find. The server was pretty knowledgeable and she was quite chatty, so that was good.
It's a good place to kick it after work, especially if you're looking for a place away from the younger crowd. -
Review from David L.
When you're in America, it probably isn't worth quibbling about the authenticity of "Irish" bars, and you're really going to have to suspend disbelief on the second floor of this contemporary, 'urban' development that's less than a decade old. On the upside, the upscale context allows them to avoid some of the Irish bar cliches, like particularly tacky things on the walls. Instead, it feels relatively old-world with plenty of seating and a decent beer list.

Review from Jen B.
Went in for dinner with a friend and wasn't overly impressed but there was good mixed with the bad.
It's irish food and thought for the most part the options were just heavy and hearty so decided on a gilled chicken sandwich, not very irish of me. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to trying new food, especially when I could end up with a whole plate of food I don't enjoy, but that's me. It was a pretty good chicken sandwich.
They had a live irish band which was enjoyable. Not too loud and I happen to like irish music.
However what I didn't enjoy was the service. It was spotty, and that is being kind. Our waiter took our order but we had to flag him or another waitress down for anything past that (more water and drinks, ketchup, our check).
Then there's the seating. It was seat yourself and they weren't busy for a Thursday night. We sat in a section where there weren't a ton of people and one side was a booth. A group of people came to sit next to us and we quickly found out that the booth was not bolted down. My energetic neighbor made me fly into the table and my food multiple times...I hope they bolt that down soon.
I'd like to give them two stars because service is that important to me but feel I should be fair since I didn't really have irish food which is probably something they do even better than my good chicken sandwich. -

Love this place! Great food & great crowd.
I started going here with friends as a good place to catch up over a few beers- plenty of tables/booths and bar area to wile away the late hours.
After one particular trip I decided to try the food (beef pot roast) and was hooked. Now, I come here as much for the food as I do the drink. Although, the hot toddy is very comforting on a cool night.
Trivia night on Sundays and live music periodically also makes this a place I really enjoy. -

Trinity Hall is one of my favorite places in Dallas. My boyfriend and I usually go together or with another couple, and have found a few really good dishes on the menu. The Irish stew is fantastic - lamb, potatoes, and vegetables in a thick dark red stew is served with their awesome soda bread on the side. If you haven't had soda bread, you need to try it -- and it's good alone, no butter needed, although they do bring it. When we want a healthy dish, we order the roasted chicken and vegetables with rice. The veggie wrap is super light and fresh, perfect if you're calorie counting.
Of course, Trinity Hall is usually where I go for my cheat days. The bread pudding dessert is HEAVENLY. It's steaming hot, sweet, crumbly bread pudding with a syrupy yellow whiskey sauce and sliced strawberries. This splurge is worth eating carefully all week long. They offer a nice Irish coffee, too, though their black coffee is good enough quality that I just drink that by itself.
The beer selection is vast; the servers have always been happy to talk to us about different drinks and make recommendations based on the types of things we like. In the fall during Oktoberfest, one server recommended a pumpkin beer microbrew out of Salt Lake City, and when I hesitated, he brought me a 2-3 oz. glass to try. It was excellent, and I enjoyed a pint of a great beer that I would have not tried otherwise. I've discovered a few great drinks at Trinity Hall this way.
The service is generally good and sometimes downright excellent. I like the dark-wood, traditional European pub-style atmosphere, and the neat little artworks perched around, including a replica of the medieval Book of Kells on display in a glass case.
Sometimes there are rugby matches, football or soccer games, or other sporting events that draw loud groups, and the restaurant has multiple TV screens so people around the whole place can see. It can get a little loud then, so I prefer the quieter Sunday afternoons with live traditional Irish folk music. There's a regular group that plays, and sometimes patrons will get up and dance. There's also a lady harpist whose music is a beautiful complement to the experience. Between performances and sporting events, the restaurant plays a mix of Celtic and traditional music over the PA, with some rock and blues, and a lot of U2 (which is great by me).
Overall, Trinity Hall has a nice kind of family/community feel. It's not a bar or a club or a dive -- it's a pub. There are families, couples, college students, elderly, sometimes kids, but not as often. I like it because it's a laid-back atmosphere with friendly, personable staff, who are willing to answer your questions or just let you hang out quietly. The pricing is reasonable -- not cheap but not overpriced, either, in my opinion. We really appreciated their generous birthday special (your age as a percentage off food for your whole party on Sunday the week of your birthday) the last time we went in.
I highly recommend grabbing a beer and a meal here, especially on Sunday afternoons. -

Trinity Hall is one of those places where there are no real issues or complaints, but I wouldn't go back.
I met a group of friends here for drinks on a Saturday night prior to a show at Hyenas. It was okay. Drinks are good, no complaints there. Every table was packed. Wait staff seemed annoyed by this. We were there from 8:30p to 10:00p and it only got busier.
The live music was funny, could be turned down a notch, I don't like to yell at people to have a conversation.
This review is short because there isn't much else to say. If I do ever go back, I'll try the food and update my review, however, there are so many nondescript pubs in Dallas that I may get lost in another. -
Review from Kyle A.
Basically, Trinity Hall is an Irish themed Applebee's.
We were stuck here on a layover from the nearby Angelica, as I suspect most hapless victims of this establishment are. By the time we left, we were convinced that this was what Dante was talking about with that whole nine circles of hell thing.
We arrived to meet friends and found it completely packed. Not one table available. We lurked about the door, periodically staking out the far reaches of the dining area to see if anything came available. Finally a table opened up, but was missing a chair. When a server finally appeared, we asked if she could find us one- nope. Not that she couldn't find one, she just wouldn't. She answered our query in a wispy non-committal tone and then just drifted away without taking our drink orders. Meanwhile, one of us was left to stand at the table.
About that time we saw a table getting up to leave and rushed it. Now seated in a different section, we got a different server. This one was an improvement. She soon brought our drinks and took our food orders. There was nothing on the menu that looked particularly good or interesting, just standard pub stuff like burgers and sandwiches. We got a sausage plate and a French dip- and boy did we eventually regret it.
The sausage itself was from Kuby's so no problem there, but everything on the plate that was "house made" was terrible. The sauerkraut had to be out of a can, or worse, spoiled. It had a tinny metallic flavor to it, reminiscent of Del Monte. The potato pancake was an absolute catastrophe; one of the greatest feats of culinary incompetence I have experienced in recent years. Imagine an object that is simultaneously pasty, floury, greasy and yet somehow still mostly raw grated potato. The potato itself had the pinkish hue that comes from sitting out too long in the air. It had the density of a hockey puck, and I imagine a similar flavor.
The French dip was wretchedness on a plate. Greasy onions and peppers slathered over a mound of cheese of unknown provenance- covering what looked to be a gelatinous pile of beef(?) and sogged-over bread. How this was supposed to be dipped into the tepid pool of salty instant beef bullion served along side it was a mystery. There was no way this languid mass was going to be picked up without utterly disintegrating. When tasted, it conveyed nothing more than a mouthful of old grease. The beef was lost in a maelstrom of oil, peppers and cheese, while the bread had become wetted down to the point of needing a spoon to consume it- and this was before it had even been dipped in the bullion flavored brine. Limp, undercooked fries accompanied.
There is a decent selection of old world beers and American small brews. There is nothing terribly unusual though, certainly nothing you couldn't get a hundred other places in a five mile radius. As far as we can tell this is a "pub" for suburbanites who venture to the city to see an indie flick at the Angelica, and just don't know any better.Listed in: Bars We Like (and hate), Publife

Trinity Hall has a great menu. I have had the Shepherd's Pie among other "traditional" dishes.
But I have to say the Fish and Chips is VERY disappointing. Do not order it; it is not what you would get in Britain at a pub. Instead of a fish fillet, you get square pieces of fish. They almost look like a couple of Mrs. Paul's fish sticks were cooked together.
But overall, I recommend Trinity Hall. -
Review from Kate R.
I've mentioned in other reviews before that I'm a dirty liar. This is, again, the case here.
I specifically said in my last review that the next time I come here, I won't eat dinner and I'll order a different dessert. Half of that came true.
It was the boyfriend's brother's birthday, so of course, he chose Trinity Hall. One cool thing about birthdays at Trinity Hall is that if you have your birthday shindig here, the entire party gets a percentage off your food check. That percentage? Your age. So, tonight, all of our food was 29% off! Of course, this doesn't apply to booze, and all of the food has to be on one check to get the discount. Still awesome.
Anyway... I was hungry and ordered food. Thought about a sandwich, but just none of it sounded good to me today. Thought about getting a salad... nah. Damn. Pot roast, again. It was good as I ate it, as it usually seems to be, but sure enough when dinner was over and I'd hung around for about 30-40 minutes, emergency bathroom trip. Awesome.
I DID try a different dessert this time, remembering how unimpressed I'd been with the fruit crock the last 2-3 times I had it. So I got the bread pudding. First of all, for $5.95, it's a tiny ass serving: approximately the size of a coaster. Razzoo's bread pudding is 3-4 times the size for about the same price, and is tastier (which means boyfriend and I share a serving). The sauce that it's served in is NOT tasty, in my opinion, but I tend to dislike booze-flavored sauces. Thankfully, I got it on the side. The pudding itself was... okay. The texture was good for a bread pudding, but there was a funny flavor to the thing. Almost like a rum-raisin flavor, but there was no rum sauce and no raisins. We both added on a scoop of ice cream for an extra buck each. It's Haagendaz ice cream, so you can't go wrong. The whipped cream garnishing the plate was also delicious.
Sad news that I overheard when boyfriend's brother tried to order dessert: they don't have the Bailey's ice cream anymore. Apparently, they just can't order it anymore? Not entirely sure. But, if it's the Haagendaz brand Bailey's ice cream, you can always go get it at your local grocery. They have it there, too.
Again, as usual, the service was good. It was mostly better than usual. We had 2 servers helping us out and the male server was AWESOME. He had waters for me and the boyfriend in about 2 seconds, while the rest of the table was waiting for teas/cokes/waters for 15 minutes before the female server who took THEIR orders brought them over; the male server went to go check on the drink orders, and THAT's when they came out. The male server was definitely awesome and personable. He seemed to be having a good time at work and was generally great.
Also, pub trivia! We came in 4th, which was surprising as we kind of super sucked on the 2nd round and did only marginally well on the 3rd round. The guy who hosts it is a cool guy, tends to ask good questions, and walks around to collect answer sheets instead of making you navigate to the front to turn them in. Biggest downside? Mavs were playing tonight and sometimes it was hard to hear the trivia questions.
Actually, the biggest downside was when I got the only Beatles-related trivia question wrong. I've been listening to and loving the Beatles since I was born. I have their entire discography and have the lyrics to 90% of their songs memorized, plus I know lots of useless fucking trivia about the Beatles, except that question, apparently. FAIL BOAT. SAD KATE. ah well. We still came in 4th!1 Previous Review: Show all »

If you love coffee, and love alcohol, and think the idea of the two married in a large ceramic cup with the perfect layer of decadent foam on top sounds appealing, then say the following with me:
"I will order the Irish coffee at Trinity Hall." Now repeat 3 times. Tie a string on your finger if you need to.
After drinking 1 or 2 of those, you'll be speaking Gaelic and river dancing along to the live music. The decor is classy, dark wood, and has a homey feel. This is the place you will end up frequenting on cold nights, catching up with friends, before/after a show or shopping in Mockingbird Station, sporting events, and just for the hell of it. -

Anywhere that serves Guinness for breakfast gets my vote - especially when they serve it with a large Irish breakfast and a good dose of rugby too.
New servers this year, but all good. I did have to explain that giving a $10 and 2 $1s for $12 as change on a $48 tab means that the tipping is likely to be skimpy. Better 1 $5 and 7 $1s. That way the waitret stands a chance.
I was there for several hours today and had the shepherds' pie as well. Not exactly what I think of a shepherds' pie. For me shepherds' pie is a lamb dish - using left overs from the Sunday roast. The pie they served me was a cottage pie. Tasty though and piping hot.
I'll be back next Saturday for more of the sameListed in: Very special places

A few of us went to Trinity Hall as we waited for our show at Hyena Comedy Club to start. It is a pretty cool bar/pub with live music. Alright. Despite the overwhelming amount of snark in the response to my first review, I actually returned to Trinity Hall a few times and am thus writing an update.
For one, I went back to Sunday night trivia and had a better experience than I am used to. Even though we were 45 minutes early we couldn't find a table big enough until some sore losers vacated the patio, but even with the crowd and the table relocation our server (one I've never had before) was pretty good keeping us fed and drunk.
Had the cider on tap and the cheesy bacon whatever fries. Both were good but a teensy bit pricey (but I've had worse). Props to Trinity Hall for the improvement, but only one star instead of two or three because it's only one times out of many. I'm willing to up the star-count if future visits are equally improved.1 Previous Review: Show all »

This place is GREAT!
Every time I have gone to Trinity Hall I have had a blast. I would recommend picking a night the band Seamus Stout is playing, those guys crank up the vibe a thousand notches!
Here's what makes it a cut above anywhere else you go:
Awesome atmosphere - It's got this really homey, alcoholic library-like feeling. Basically the way I imagine a true Irish Pub to be. Plus they have bands play there a lot of the time as well. Like I said, if you get to see Seamus Stout, enjoy, they rip up the stage with some blistering good Irish (possibly Scottish I'm just making an uninformed assumption) tunes.
Great beer selection - Getting to that point where ol Miller and Bud don't quite do it for you like Dogfish Head and Avery do? Well you are in the right place. Trinity Hall has about a dozen beers on tap in addition to tons of bottled selections. There's no way your beer fancies won't be tickled at this place.
Enormous Scotch selection - I read on a little advertisement sitting at our table that they have over 100 different types of scotches. Ron Burgundy would have tears rolling down his majestic mustache just thinking of this place.
Location, location, location! - This puppy is steps away from the DART rail's Mockingbird Station. I can't tell you how much I wish there were more bars located right next to the rails, seems like a no-brainer right?
There's not really much else that I can tell you about this place other than I highly recommend it. For New Year's Eve they have a great deal, $30 gets you admission and 3 drink tickets, plus they usually have a band, awesome deal!Listed in: Dallas' Finest Beer Bars

This place is as good a pub as Dallas has had in 20 years. It's an amazing combination of sports- domestic and abroad- and spiritous libations.
So often I'm annoyed by bars that have bands play on busy evenings because of the noise, but they work the music volume well as not to hinder conversations. Its always very festive.
It's not often you find a pub- excellent beer selection and all- with a wonderful menu (unreal French Dip sandwich) and fantastic, festive appeal, but you find it all at Trinity Hall. Did I just rhyme there? -

As far as I'm concerned, there's only one Irish pub outside of Ireland that I truly consider an Irish pub.
And trust me, I've been to many "Irish" pubs across the U.S. And they're all lacking something.
Trinity Hall Irish Pub in Mockingbird Station in Dallas (although they have a new location in Allen, I just haven't been there yet) is a true Irish pub. Right down to the wood.
Trinity Hall rocks. First off, the owner is Irish. Second, the food is bad-A (which means good). Not to mention they have quite a number of vegetarian options, as the pubs in Ireland do. Third, they know their beer.
They know their beer so well that Izzie (on of their bartenders) was awarded by Guinness for his pint pouring skills. Ever have a perfect pint? The answer is simply, ever been to Trinity Hall Irish Pub in Dallas?
In the mood for something hot instead of beer, get an Irish Coffee or a Hot Toddy. Just make sure Joe is your server; his hot drinks are to die for. In fact, I'd feel safe betting that no one can make a hot, Irish drink that could beat one of Joe's. Having one of his Irish coffees easily turns into drinking three.
And if you're hungry, well, you can't go wrong. I hear the Bangers and Mash are excellent. I can tell you from experience that the Mulligatawny stew (vegetarian broth!) is heart warming. But one of my favorites is the Mockingbird Sunday, a baked potato stuffed to the nines with cheese, vegetables, and more potatoes.
Go up there on a Sunday for the Pub Quiz. Or head out there anytime, really. If there's a soccer or rugby game playing, be prepared for a truly authentic Irish experience; the place can get crowded. Other times, it's a great, quiet place for the whole family (yep, they have a kids' menu).
Try to sit in either Ollie or Joe's sections. And tell them Yummy Awesome sent you.

Trinity Hall is one of the better Irish pubs around Dallas. The parking is a mess and it feels a little corporate and clean cut for an Irish pub but they have good traditional service, good beer and lots of tiems they have live music.

I'll be honest, the last thing I felt in Trinity was 'pub-ish' and more of an Irish themed bar. I have order many half-pints and screw taps across the ocean in true pubs, and there is just a different feel and ambiance that I have yet to have in the States.
It was dead on a Wednesday night (which surprised me) except for a cordoned off area for what looked like a small company meet and greet mingle session. It was a bit odd that I was sitting, sipping on a brew while these business casual folks wearing name badges were yucking it up. Who knows, not my thing but that's life I suppose.
So the bar is decent, albeit a bit small. Their selection was quite wonderful in brews thankfully, and I happily guzzed down a few. I was happy to note that the beers weren't significantly overpriced, unlike a few other places that I've frequented in the past (BWW for instance.)
Two things were game changers with Trinity Hall, though, taking this from a two star 'meh' place, to a four star experience.
First, the food. I ordered both the chips and queso, and the buffalo wings. I was expecting some crap bar food, and I was completely blown away with what I received. The chips and queso was surprisingly good, and that disappeared relatively quickly. The even bigger surprise were the buffalo wings. They were tasty, not drenched in sauce, and incredibly flavorful. I really, really liked them a lot.
The other part was the bar tender. Legit Irish actually in an Irish bar? Wow, pretty nifty. He was friendly enough to chat me up about the island and such, and I really appreciated it. Very attentive as well, and excellent in pouring a pint.
Overall, good experience. Probably not what you'll get in the Emerald Isle, but easily the closest to it that you'll find in Dallas. -

I lurve me some Irish bars. I love drinkin' harp and eatin' curry fries and tappin' my wee foot to the beat of a great Irish band (you know, the kind of music that Kate and Leo danced to down in the belly o' the Titanic before it got all wet in there). Trinity Hall, to me, is purty good. You know the bar isn't that old, heck- Mockingbird station isn't more than 5 years old, is it?-- so you lose some of that "old" charm and you just know it's a bit commercial. But for irish pubs in this town, the food can't be beat. The french fries are crunchy, salty, not too greasy. Curry sauce is a little congealey thick, but very tasty.
We got there just as the band was wrapping up -- crap! -- and had to listen to some radio type moooozac. Trivia was getting started at 7:30 (just as we were leaving). The Trivia was muuuuuch easier than The Tipperary Tuesday night brawl (one question was "What did the Kittens lose?").
When I'm looking for character, I'll go to the Tipperary. When I'm looking for good food, I'll go to Trinity Hall. -

After watching the Ireland vs. France World Cup qualifying match at the T-Hall on Saturday, I feel compelled to update my review of this place.
First of all, this is a great a venue to watch a Football (soccer) match. There are multiple TVs, including a big screen to watch the game on, ensuring that you can see the action, even if you have to stand the entire game. Which you very well may due to the size of the crowd that may be watching any particular game.
During the match, our waiter remained attentive and our food came out in a timely fashion, even though there were disgruntled fans yelling, "get up you twat" and "fuck off referee" and all sorts of cheering and jumping going on at different intervals.
My Guinness tasted as fresh as getting it straight from the distillery in Dublin, and our food was good as well - as it always is here.
The down side was to be a part of this action it's a $20 per person fee. They say it's for the pay-per-view charge. With the size of the crowd at the T-Hall for the game that day, this is a pretty greedy amount of money.
They could have charged $5 a head and still made a nice profit, and it's not like everyone there wasn't eating and ordering large amounts of alcohol - because they were, and this place is pricey as it is.
Yes, I will go to this pub for the occasional night out, but I can't imagine spending $20 every time I want to watch a World Cup Game this summer, I'm going to have to step up with my raiding and pillaging of small seaboard villages if I'd want to do that - and I do need to sleep at some point.
I would hope that the good folks at the Trinity Hall have something in mind for the World Cup games this summer, or I'm going to have to suck it up and get cable TV.Listed in: Best Pubs to Watch Football…

I only got to have one beer at Trinity Hall, but it was delicious and recommended to me by our waiter, so yay to that. The prices were decent and I enjoyed the short time spent inside. The staff seemed super nice and if I'm in the area again I'll definitely hit it up for some food and a Guiness... or some whiskey.
Only downside is that it's in a fancy mall type place and if I drink too much I'm bound to march my ass down the way and start buying everything at all the cool stores. Uh-oh!
EDIT: The beer I tried was something called Kona something or other from Hawaii and came in a cobalt blue pint glass. That's the other great thing about Trinity... they have the different glasses for the different kinds of beers. I appreciate that a lot!
