This is another Main St. hidden gem! If you love pizza, you got to try this place out.

My partner and I were taking our after work stroll up and down Main St. We saw this quaint little pizza joint, went in, was impressed by what we saw, but because we weren't "hungry hungry" so we walked out. After 15 seconds of "What do you think?" and "Would you do it?" We went back in, got ourselves a two-person booth.

We saw a family of 4 (mom & dad with 2 toddlers) ordering a tomato bocconcini pizza which I couldn't resist ordering the same (the wait was about 10 minutes because they were making it from scratch). While we waited we got ourselves a small margarita pizza which just came out of the oven.

The pizza slices were in small wedges and served on a wooden cutting board. I really enjoyed it. I've never had a pizza that burnt the roof of my mouth..okay I may have over shared but this tells you how fresh I had the slices. I love the pizza dough. It was crunchy but had a chew in the centre of the pizza. For me the highlight was the tomato sauce. It was clean, fresh, and sweet. I did ask the pizza maker if they bought or made their own tomato sauce. They said they buy stew tomato (couldn't tell me the brand, trade secret) and cooked it with other herbs (trade secret) in house. The whole melted cheese, cold pressed extra virgin olive oil, dusted salt and pepper did it for me. I was in love. The pizza was on the salty side but it's no big deal. Oh and no it wasn't greasy for me even though Marc D. found it on the oily side from his previous review.

10 minutes later our tomato bocconcini pizza arrived. LOVE IT! It was literally like eating tomato bocconcini salad with mixed greens on top of a yummy pizza crust. It was refreshing, fresh and not salty at all. When my partner and I were in our own la la land devouring our pizza, our pizza maker, Justin (very cute young man but you can decide for yourself), brought over 2 slices of complementary Vancouver pizza which was tomato sauce, melted cheese and salmon. He said these pieces were too small to be sold as a "small" so he may as well give them away instead of wasting them. I am not a fish fan and the Vancouver pizza turned out to be my favourite! The tomato sauce and sliced salmon was such a beautiful marriage I couldn't wipe that silly smile off my face!

The total bill came to $8 something but I gave Justin $10 because I love my experience here. Pizza here is unique and I felt like I was eating a piece of art. Love it!

I really like this place, I was a bit thrown off to find that my favorite cafe had closed down upon arrival; but was pleasantly surprised when I ate there and the place still offered good good times!

I order the vegetarian pizza every time I go and though the small pizza is more than enough to fill me up I  order the large and hoard it ALL!!!

Also whats great there but I have yet to try (I always get take out from there) is you can get slices of a variety of pizzas and try them all mmmmm...

I live over by firewood pizza (another great traditional thin crust spot) now so don't get to eat there too often but my bf is willing to drive over there every week!

    Says something!!!!

Picked up a whole specialty pizza yesterday for a potluck.  Apparently 2 feet is the same as a regular sized pizza box, who knew!

Did half Vancouver (smoked salmon, organic salad) and half Caprese - the only two cold toppings that can be combined for a whole.  Lots of layered nice quality smoked salmon.  I probably should've gotten just one whole Vancouver pizza, it went pretty fast!

Will be back to try their other selections!

The real deal!  This is the kind of pizza you find in Italy, although you probably won't find a "Vancouver" there, but Im sure glad you can get it here ( Smoked salmon pizza - its delicious! )
Great prices, excellent food, friendly service.

A wonderful, happy palace of pizza. So many delicious sounding options, and if they don't have a pizza ready-made with your choice of toppings, they'll gladly make one for you if you're willing to wait the extra 10 minutes. My one gripe is that the margherita did not prominently feature fresh basil the way that I like it. MOAR BASIL.

The system whereby you order a length from a long, rectangular pizza doesn't actually gyp you, but actually worked in my favour when I visited because "well this isn't quite a large, so I'll charge you for a regular". So fair! Pricing is very reasonable, and I really appreciate the combo options for those that want to have their pizza, soup, and coffee and eat it too.

The pizza is delicious and I look forward to trying some of the other offerings here. I also look forward to coming back just to be called "bella".

By all means am not a pizza connoisseur but had a great overall lunch experience here. Stopped by with my husband and was impressed with the great service and simplicity of the menu. Definitely a cozy little spot, this is a no frills place where the menu is on the wall and you order at the front counter. The lady taking our order was kind enough to show and run us through all the different kinds of pizza made that day. There were some that weren't listed on the main menu.

We both had the Pizza Combo for $7.95 which comes with pizza, a soup or salad and a drink. They were kind enough to substitute an Americano for my husband instead of regular drip coffee. I ordered the Milano Pizza with Prosciutto and Mozzarella, which I liked and a soup. Especially enjoyed the slices of house bread that came with the combo that I dipped into my soup. Yummers!

Definitely will be back next time to try their Paninis.

    * Nice new casual Italian offering *

Located in the old Reentry Espresso location, this new spot is a welcome addition to the area.

Their owner and chef is from Rome, and makes the long "tell me how much you want me to slice off" type of pizza.  They slice off your desired portion size, and serve it to you on a wood board.  I tried the special of the day, which was arugula, sausage, and mozzarella.  The crust had a nice chew and was perfectly charred on the edges.  The bite of the arugula combined nicely with the other ingredients.  But the highlight was the sausage, which was a perfectly seasoned non-commercial tasting sausage.  So many places put a nasty commercial tasting sausage on their pizzas.  Not here.  Good stuff!  My only wish would be if they would use just a fraction less olive oil in it.  It was delicious, but could have been just slightly less oily (not a lot, just slightly).  Photo:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

They also have a coffee and pastry combination available.  There were no pastries left at the time I was there, but they offered to take some fresh baked  roma bread with a side of marmalade or nutella.  Magic words.  I couldn't resist nutella!  What came was several pieces of freshly grilled roma bread, which had been baked in house earlier, along with a small cup of nutella.  The kind person behind the counter suggested, "If you need more nutella, just let me know."  Nice.  The bread had a nice crust and a good chew.  Very good bread.  Photo:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

The double espresso was served in a HUGE regular coffee cup.  I hope they buy some espresso cups for their coffee service.  The taste of the espresso was surprisingly good.  I did not ask what type of beans they are using, but they skillfully pulled the shot.  Photo:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

So a strong 4 stars.  A tad bit less oil on the pizza toppings, and a better espresso cup is all that is needed from my end to bump this to 5 stars.  I have every reason to think they will work out the start-up kinks and become an even stronger offering.

Just like being in a bar in Italy.......without the liquor or table charge.

Panini, soup, pane Roma or pizza, so many possibilities for lunch! We decided on pizza but neither of our pizza choices, the Attilio and Garbatella, were already made so one was whipped up for us and ready in about 10 minutes.

Allessandro knows how to make pizza exactly the way I like it - a nice thin chewy crust with a slightly crisp bottom and high quality toppings distributed in a perfect proportion. And no triangular slices, a Trilussa slice is a true Roman slice cut from a long rectangular pizza.

I know I will be back soon to try some more pizza and the other menu items. Besides, what lady doesn't like their order taken by someone with an Italian accent who calls them "bella"?!

Delicious Roman-style pizza in a cozy cafe setting. These pizzas are the flat, oblong-shaped ones, kind of like at Whole Foods, but a whole lot better. There are five meat offerings, including a VANCOUVER topping of smoked salmon and organic greens. It looked exquisite, but I couldn't pass up the TRASTEVERE with pancetta, mozzarella and pecorino. It was perfect! There are also five vegetarian offerings. TODAY'S SPECIAL was potato, pesto and some kind of cheese. I love potato pizzas, so ordered a large slice of this one. It was good and satisfying... until we bit into the pancetta pizza. Sorry, but that cured meat just makes the fat lady in me sing.

(After I looked at the menu again, I saw that there's actually a flavor called CAPRI, which consists of potatoes, pesto and pecorino cheese. Hmm. I suspect there wasn't any "market selection of the day" and I was given this instead. Oh well--same price, and, as I said, I love potato pizzas. Just makes me wonder.)

Large slices are $7.50 and regular $5.50. When you dine in, Alessandro cuts up the slices into smaller rectangles and serves them to you on a wooden board. Nice touch!

I also tried a ROMA SANDWICH, which has mortadella (a heat-cured pork sausage, cold-cut style). The housemade bread (choice of white or wheat) was great for the sandwich, though the mortadella wasn't all that unique in flavor, if you generally eat a lot of cold cuts already. Maybe next time I'll go for the prosciutto, bocconcini, or portobello and brie...

A 12-oz. cup of coffee isn't cheap ($2.30) but it's a tasty brew served in a nice white mug. Soda is fairly priced: Coke, etc. ($1.00) and San Pellegrino ($1.75).

Credit cards accepted. Fast and friendly service. Plenty of pizza flavors means plenty of visits will be required.

This place isn't really 4 star but not really a 3. I'd give it a 3.5 if I could. The food was really good and the place is cozy.  The pizza was crunchy and presented well. Reminds me of Sciue but more neighbourhood style.  I had the tomato boccocini pizza and the French Onion Soup; which was amazing.  It wasn't the North America style where the cheese is baked overtop.  It was the real deal, just light onion soup with sprinkled cheese inside. It was perfect for the kind of weather we're getting.  It hit the spot for a snack but for a meal and sitdown place, I'd visit a pizzeria restaurant.  They also serve pastries which looked attractive, I'm sure they would be delicious.  Overall I had a good experience.

They offer their pizzas from 3inches so it's great if you just want to have a light bite.

    Outstanding food and excellent management.

I had an issue with the price charged for my lunch the day before-when I returned and spoke to the owner he quickly refunded me the difference-it seems a new employee was mixed up.

I actually enjoyed the flatbread they sell more than the Pizza.

Gulping down a large rich slice of pizza after a long bike ride wasn't the greatest idea-the toppings are excellent but again Very Rich.

Maybe next I'll try the delicious looking baguette-so many lunch options but only so many lunches.......

Trilussa is in the former Reentry Espresso spot, and it's so good that it almost makes up for the loss of that great coffee shop. We stopped in today for lunch. Very impressed by the thin-crust, low-cheese, no grease Roman-style pizzas and fresh-made sandwiches. The bread is chewy, peasant style, with lots of tooth and texture.

Owner Alessandro is from Rome and was very friendly. Service was prompt, too, and the prices were good ($6 for a sandwich, or $8 for a combo with soup or salad and soda or coffee).

Bar none, this cafe serves the best pizza I've ever eaten in Vancouver. The pizza base is absolutely exquisite. It has the right bite, the right texture, the right chewiness, the right flavour. Everything about it is right. I had the Vancouver pizza with the smoked salmon on top. One word, delicious. I can't wait to back and try all the other pizzas and the sandwiches and soup for that matter.

I've passed this cafe numerous times and had only walked in yesterday because I had read about it on yelp and was merely curious. I didn't have big expectations. But I can say this, Roman pizza rocks. I don't think I can go back  to eating pizza at other pizza restaurants in Vancouver because it's that good. In terms of value, Trilussa delivers. Totally underrated in my opinion.

Had the coffee also. Being a real coffee snob that I am, I can actually say that Trilussa coffe tastes great. I thought the service was truly wonderful. The young lady who served us yesterday had a beautiful Italian accent with a great smile to go with it. This is something I look for in any restaurant however small it is.

Kudos to Alessandro Fonseca, the Roman genius behind the concept. His pizza brought me back to my time in Italy. Anytime I need to escape, I am very pleased to know that I can just walk into this cafe and be transported to Rome. Incredibile!

I personally don't like Pizza.  They are often too greasy for me in general.  But friends referred this new Pizzeria to me, and it is probably the best pizza I've tasted so far.  It reminded me of Rome.  Very authentic taste of Italy for sure.

I LOVE their "Vancouver Pizza".  Fresh and tasty.  Highly recommanded.

Been coming to the place for American Mistos as an alternative to Little Mountain when it's raining out and don't feel like getting pissed on for 5 blocks.  I was a loyal Re-Entryer before the greedy landlords started changing the landscape of our beloved Riley Park community.  However, gotta say Trilussa was a great replacement and has earned my respect and contribution.  The coffee is decent.  Tried the pizza for the first time today and it was no dissapointment.  The spicy pesto was my favorite and the crust was perfect -- thin, crispy and chewy, comparable to the pizza at Campagnolo.  However, I tried the funghi and the crust was a bit different, not quite my favorite, as it was thicker and somewhat like their bread.  Great friendly service and excellent pie and selection.  I'm starting to dig this place over Steveston, Rocky Mountain and Firewood.  However, I'm stoked to checkout Pizzeria Farina in the next month!

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Trilussa earlier, seeing as it's my new favourite place in East(ish) Van. Maybe the reason is that I have been so focused on the slow but joyous emergence of Neapolitan-style pizza places in the city that I forgot to pay due respect the Romans in the game. Truth be told, for a long time, Roman-style "pizza" (which is really more of a topped focaccia) was the only good, authentic Italian pizza to be had in Vancouver. Scuie has been serving it for many years now, and many years, in fact, before places like Campagnolo, Nicli Antica or Novo brought us Neapolitan competitors that were up to the challenge. The problem with Scuie, though, has always been a) that their two locations are very inconvenient if you don't happen to work and eat lunch in either downtown or Yaletown and b) that I've always liked my arms and legs too much to use them as payment for a slice of unarguably tasty flatbread. At least for me, Trilussa has addressed both of these problems.

Not only can their pizza compete with the best of them (seriously, I don't think I've had better Roman pizza in Rome), it is also very affordable and  much more accessible, both in terms of their location in what is fast becoming the hippest part of Main Street and their business hours. Chef Alessandro is not only quite likely the nicest restaurateur this side of, well, anywhere, who always greets you with a warm smile and (to my diet's dismay) quietly starts upping the portions for his regulars, he is also an absolute master of the brick oven. The pizza is fantastic, but the ciabatta and filone he makes for their freshly made Italian sandwiches are really impressive, as well. In fact, we've recently started to go there on occasion just for the fresh bread. The prices are surprisingly civil and, in a slight deviation from the Roman tradition that Sciue follows, are not calculated by weight, but by size, with the customer being able to pick and choose pieces in three different sizes, from 3 to 7 inches in length. Three three-inch or so-called combo pieces go for less than $12 and, with Roman pizza being quite a bit more dense than its Neapolitan counterpart, fill you up like a whole pizza somewhere else - while also being a lot tastier than most. Trilussa is open from 9am till 9pm on most days (closed on Modays) and offers eat-in and take-out. If you're anywhere in the area (not that it wouldn't be worth a trip), you can't go wrong stopping in here for lunch or dinner ... or both.

What a lovely surprise after swimming at the nearby Olympic pool (Hillcrest Aquatic Centre, next to Nat Bailey Stadium at 29th Ave and Ontairio St.) This place is near 28th, on Main St. What I had had the freshest thin sausage and most perfect cheese within. I also had the vegetarian offering which included plenty of baby bocconcini. "Roman Pane" is what these pizza-like slices are called. They are actually much tastier than pizza. For @ $10 I had a small and a medium size of these pane which is filling. What a treat. Very good taste. Small: $3.50 Medium: $5.50. Large: $7.

Made my day. Coming from Melbourne Australia where good Italian coffee isn't hard to find I have been on the search ever since we arrived in Vancouver. I finally found it!!! Hands down the best espresso mach that I've had here.
Not only is the man that runs it sooo welcoming, his hospitality in sharing fresh bread and his passion for what he does was intoxicating. If I wasn't having contractions I would have stayed until lunch. Hahahha
Thank you for making us feel at home. We will be back for sure. Your food was brilliant and coffee outstanding.

I've been on the hunt for good pizza since moving to Vancouver. And this is the best. It's roman-syle square slices, fast and inexpensive, and sure to replace the ubiquitous cheap pizza-by-the-slice joints all over town. They use beautiful, fresh ingredients on a lovely thin dough with a perfect chew. This pizza is perfectly balanced, and not slopped in cheese or sauce.

He also makes a good espresso, making it the perfect 10 min lunch spot!
